Archway Oatmeal Cookies

Sadly, they no longer carry Archway. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Archway Oatmeal Cookies

I have been scouring the city looking for a store that sells Archway brand Oatmeal cookies (not iced oatmeal or oatmeal rasin). I need these cookies to recreate a family recipe for Thanksgiving tomorrow.

If you know of a store in Manhattan that sells these, PLEASE let me know.

Thanks.

MarkJoseph v. The Palm

Yes, they just opened a location on Chambers Street.

Which is the better steakhouse? (We are geographically limited to lower Mahattan so please don't suggest someplace in midtown or Brooklyn)

Opera Singing Waiters

Are there any Italian restaurants left in NYC where the waiters sing opera? I remember going to Asti's many years back, but that has since closed.

Best of Chelsea?

I recommend Gascogne on 8th Ave and 18th Street. It feels really rustic inside. Also, 1/2 the menu is presented on a chalk board full of nightly specials, so don't think what you see on menupages is the whole menu.

Looking for Polish Smoked Meats - Sausages

There's a Hungarian Meat Market on 81st and Second Avenue. I also recommend Schaller & Weber, a German butcher, on Second Avenue between 85th and 86th Streets

Best Upper East Side Diner

it's called the lexington avenue candy shop and it's just ok.

Alternatives to per se?

I haven't been to Per Se, but the food at Fleur de Sel (on East 20th Street) reminded me of my meal at the French Laundry.

Wine Bar on UES

I love the Etats-Unis bar on the north side of 81st between 2nd and 3rd (not to be confused with the restaurant Etats-Unis, on the south side of the street), but it can get crowded so try to get there before 7pm. Otherwise you may have to wait a while to be seated.

If you HAD to pick a Steakhouse in/near the Theater District

I suggest calling Del Frisco's back the day before you want to eat there and again day of to see if they've had any cancellations. Also, ask if they serve dinner at the bar. That might be a fun option if there are only going to be two of you.

One 83 (UES)

Has anyone been to this Italian Place on First Avenue between 83rd and 84th? I'm thinking of going over the weekend since it's so close to my apartment but read mixed reviews on Menupages, none of which were recent.
If you have been and *didn't* like it, I'd love a recommendation for anything else in this neighborhood that doesn't require a reservation (i.e., not Sfoglia), not even necessarily Italian.
Thanks!

If you HAD to pick a Steakhouse in/near the Theater District

Del Frisco's has a special "early bird" pre-fixe if you order before 6:30pm: for $39.95 you get a salad (probably mixed green or an iceberg wedge), 8oz filet mignon or salmon, 2 sides, and dessert! I think $40 is a real bargain for all this (especially when you see how expensive this place is). Plus you can always order some other stuff a la carte to share (e.g. onion rings or their excellent but VERY pricey crab cake). Since you'll probably be ordering before 6:30 to get to the show by 8pm, consider this option.

If you HAD to pick a Steakhouse in/near the Theater District

I like Del Frisco's and I think it's probably even closer to the theater (since it's on 49th Street) than Ben Benson's (which is on 52nd, I think)

Best Pasta Bolognese?

Babbo serves my favorite bolognese sauce with pappardelle. But if you can't get down there, I'd try Paola's on E. 84th Street (I haven't had their bolognese, but I like everything else I've tried there)

Pre-dinner cocktails before dinner at Little Owl

I recommend Employees Only - 510 Hudson Street (it's around the corner from the Little Owl).

Best Chinese Delivery UES (90's)

I thought Sunny was just ok. Their lunch special (at $4.95) is $2 cheaper than most of my favorite neighborhood places (i.e., Pig Heaven and Our Place), so if you're looking for a real bargain, it's worth a try.

Periyali

I would like to eat dinner there tonight but no one is answering their phone. Anyone know what's going on? Have they closed?
