GODFATHER style Italian restaurant
Clinton Restaurant on Clintonville street and 10th ave. in Whitestone, Queens. It's owned by two older Italian sisters and the food is amazing. Also, the vibe is just as you described it.
Mei Lai Wah closed by DOH?!?
I was a block away from Joes Shanghai. And they did run out. The guy 8 people in front of me ordered like 30 buns.
food near astoria movie theater?
Cafe Bar is also called Monica's. Because it really doesnt have a name so thats what people called it since, i think, the owners name was monica.
Papazzio's in Bayside?
This place is awesome, dont think twice about going. The foods good, the place is really nice and cozy, the service is excellent. I wen ton saturday night with my gf. She had the angelhair pasta in rose sauce with chicken, i had the rigatoni in cream sause with sauteed shrimp. Both dishes were dynamite. We also split a salad that had goat cheese balls and toasted pecans in it. GET THIS SALAD. It was fantastic , oh and for desert i would definently recommend the polenta chocolate mouse cake. I usually dont like desert and only take a spoonful from my gf's but this time i had more than half of the plate. it was excellent. The portions are also very big so you will definently need a glass of averna at the end of your meal !!!!
Best Chinese Food in Astoria, Bayside, Whitestone ?
Hey Chowhound Foodies. Where is the best Chinese food in Astoria ? A place where you can order some sweet and sour pork, some short ribs, some wonton soup and some shrimp fried rice.
Upscale restaurants of Queens
Deluge sucks. I went there on V-day for some dumb reason and even though my reservation was at 8 we were seated at 9:20 and they had run out of the lobster bisque. They felt bad so they gave us free drinks but the place is small and way over their head when they get crowded. The waitress actually said while apologising, "i'm sorry but as long as ive worked here theres never been more than 3 groups of people at the same time". This place is a joke in my oppinion.
food near astoria movie theater?
I would go to Monica's on 34th ave and 35 street. Great sandwhiches and a very cool atmosphere. Bit of a hipster crowd, which sucks, but what can you do.
Mei Lai Wah closed by DOH?!?
So did this place open or what ? I have never heard of this place, but I was in Chinatown in Decemeber of this year and found myself on a 35 minute line waiting for some awesome pork buns that definentlt delivered. I don't know if I was at this place or not.
airport diner in astoria
Theres a jackson hole in bayside as well and the burger at both locations are exactly the same. In my oppinion they make great burgers. I wouldnt say the best or anything but its a big tasty sloppy burger that leaves me satisfied every time. And the airline diner location is very charming because of its old school unchanged interior. Even the waitresses seam to be from another time and place, they dont look like astoria chicks.
BTW - i dont know if anyones ever had breakfast at this place, but that might be even better than their burgers. tons of good home made food.
Bread in LIC?
Parisi bros. - bway and 31st. Maybe the best bread in North America =)
wedding at Grand Prospect Hall
I just have to say that the grand prospect hall tv commercial is the greatest 30 seconds ever caught on film. my prediction is in 20 years that commercial will be a cult classic.
Astoria Eats
Tried a new place the other night and I think theres a new Greek King in Astoria. The place is called Loukoumi (on Ditmars blvd. and 45th street by the new condos) This place was great. The owner was very friendly and also treated us to an extra carafe of the house wine. We had grilled sausage which was amazing and flavorful, fried eggplant and zuchinni with skordalia (garlic dip) which is one of my fav plates that i order at every greek restaurant and i think this was the best ive ever had), saganaki (fried cheese) which was a small portion but again very good, and as a main plate i ordered the lamb burgers which where absolutely delicious. The portion was HUGE too !!! Also, my gf had mousaka which came in an individual clay pot and was exceptional. The place is small and very cute and they even give you a free piece of galaktobouriko when they bring you teh check. Highly recommended.
Restaurants along Broadway in Astoria
There used to be a brazilian place on b'way named Sabor tropical. It moved to a new location but i think its not too far. Great restaurant. yuka fritas are the BOMB !!! The strip steak is great and they make a mean mojito. Oh and the biscuits that they bring you to start with must have crack in them cause i cant stop eating them.
Pizza in Astoria
I had some Michael and Angelos the other day. It really was very good. Although its not new york style pizza, and a large thin crust hardly feeds 2 people. Their chicken parm hero was laso excellent. Im glad this place opened, great addition to the hood.
OUTERBOROUGH ECONOMEALS under $10 PP
AVLI- in Bayside is the best new greek "gyro place" around, and you can get a ton of stuff for pretty cheap.
IL VESUVIOS- in bayside for a coke and a chicken parm hero. best chicken parm hero ever.
SAL CHRIS AND CHARLIES-in astoria for a sandwhich is amazing. order the bomb for 6.50 or so.
BKNY- thai in bayside with some great prices for lunch specials
Best Burrito in NY?
Anyone ver try Blockheads on 2nd avenue around the 50's in manhattan. That place is great and the burritos are amazing. Im probably not a good person to answer this debate though. I love every burrito ive evr eaten. I even love a steak grilled stuffed burrito from the always delicious taco bells !!!!
cherry valley deli
If you don't mind eating something completely unhealthy but super delicious, you have to go to cherry valley and get a "TCS". Its a chicken cutlet sandwhich with american cheese melted on top and soaked in gravy. Get it on a Hero and you will be happy !
Pizza in Astoria
The best triangle slices in Astoria in my oppinion are "Frankie's" under the N train on 31st street at the Ditmars Blvd. Stop. and "Politto's" which is on Broadway, between Steinway and 38th street. Both plaxces are your typical old dirty pizzerias but if you wanna get 2 slices and a coke, you cant do any better in astoria. Polittos is especially terrific.
disappointing meal at Stamatis! where's the real Greek food in Astoria?
If you want good seafood, go to Kyklades. If you want good gyro ro souvlaki, go to Romano's on Broadway.
Best Gyro?
Anyone remember a place in astoria called Lemonia ? It closed down a couple yeas ago but it was amazing.
Want cold beer. Will travel.
How has noone referred this man to The Czech Beer garden in Astoria Queens. This place is an outdoor hipster fest. You probably have very few weeks left to enjoy this place since it dies out after the cold weather settles in. This place has a lot of great European Beers on tap and some decent Czech food.
I would also recommend The Sunswick in astoria. Its by the Kaufman studios area. I think 34th ave, and about 35th street.
Best pizza in queens??
Ahhhh Polito's....good call. Great triangle slice, very cheesy. Ever tried Frankie's in astoria under the Ditmars N train stop? That's my fav astoria pizza joint. A lot of people like Rizzo's but I don't. Every time I get a slice at Rizzo's the blotch of cheese in the center fall soff in one bite, and that shouldnt happen.
Best Pizza in Queens ??
Hey guys, new to the forum. Love all teh posts, and I live in Bayside so I'll be driving to Amore for lunch today, see what all the fuss is about. Anyone ever heard of Frankie's Pizza under the N train on 31st street in Astoria, between 23rd ave. and Ditmars Blvd. ? I have been going there for about 20 years and it's my fav place to get 2 slices and a coke. Very crispy and chewy. An amazing plain triangle slice.
