I think you should try your inquiry at bayridgetalk.com. There are many posters at that site who are very helpful with questions about neighborhood merchants.

Clemente's - Crabs in Sheepshead Bay

I haven't been to Clemente's but I have been to Jordans. Food is okay and if you eat outside you are basically looking at parking lots. Not worth the trek from Manhattan.

The Bay Ridge location of John's is no longer in business.

Agnanti-Bay Ridge...or other Greek

I like Elia. It is upscale as compared to Agnanti. The food and service at Elia are excellent. 8611 3rd Avenue.

Royal Crown Bakery--baguette

I agree with all your wrote about Royal Crown but you gotta lose the dash in the address. Brooklyn isn't Queens we don't do dashes.

Bay Ridge- private/semi private

I think that is kind of a small party for a private room. Ponte Vecchio is a quiet place to begin with and the food is excellent. If you let them know they will give you your own private area. They have valet parking for those driving.

Tempo closing

"So for us old timers to hear that the location is associated with the word "costly" is ironic".

Absinthe in Brooklyn?

At Puffys Tavern in TriBeCa they have had a drink called the separator because "it separates your mind from your body" - and it did just that. Puffy's Tavern 81 Hudson Street at Franklin.

Another suggestion, Zest on Bay Street.

Traditional election day fare?

Does anyone know of any foods that are eaten on election day in NYC? I heard of a couple of people, old time New York Democrats, who order Chinese food every election day and watch the returns. Anyone else do anything similar?

Butcher in Bay Ridge

The place is loved for fish was closed down due to violations this week. Chef with Sole. That was a very good place. I went to a place on 5th around 80th Street this Friday and the fish was good.

There is a butcher on 3rd Avenue between 86th and 87th street (not the place on the corner). It is next to Estia Greek restaurant.

desperately seeking brussel sprout sandwich

This might sound outrageous but maybe it was homemade.

Carmel Apples in Brooklyn

The Little Cupcake doesn't have them. I shouldn't be eating the one I am going to buy so making my own is not going to happen. I don't want leftovers. I will check into Hinsch's. Thanks!

Carmel Apples in Brooklyn

Not bogus supermarket ones. Bakery? candy shop? Prefer Bay Ridge but will travel.

A polish deli on 3rd Avenue and 82nd Street in Bay Ridge has excellent pirogies and homemade polish fare. They are not open on Sundays. Also Eagle Provisions on 5th Avenue off Prospect Avenue near the slope.
