Bday dinner recommendations - S. FL
Grazi at 701 Washington--a guaranteed birthday success. Great food, serivce and vibe.
Au Pied de Cochon
Went last night with my husband--WORST SERVICE IN RECENT MEMORY and Miami is capable of bad service. Oysters and clams were microscopic in size. Shrimp were healthy but that was th eonly above average item and Nemo's has much better shrimp any day.
We will not be backn--French are often critiziced for arrogance--in that case our waiter brought a touch of Paris to Miami.
Groceries/Market Open on Xmas Day on Miami Beach?
Does anyone know if a grocery (even a smaller market) is open on Beach today?
Please comment on my Miami restaurant choices
Grazi is a must --best restuaranteurs on the Beach. Ask for the Salmon Shelly--not on menu but excellent piece of salmon on top of grilled veggies
Between Denver airport and Boulder
Arriving in Denver tonight and driving to Boulder. Need recommendation for a restaurant on the way. Trying not to go into downtown Denver. Looking for good food good atmosphere. Hoping to do much better than a chain. Concerned we won't get to Boulder until 10 so it may be too late to wait until we get there. Any recommendations will be appreciated.
After Theatre Dinner
Any suggestions for dinner after Jersey Boys Thursday night? Would prefer heavy on the quality and scene as opposed to the weight of the meal.
Four Seasons Istanbul
Balikci Sabahattin. Walking distance from hotel. Seating in outdoor patio. Cold and hot mezzes and very fresh fish. Loved it so much we went back a second time while we were there. Hotel is wonderful - best service ever - excellent location in old city.
Best restaurants in Boulder and Denver
Great question. I realized my comment made no sense as soon as I pushed send!! Although my husband will eat anything I am quite a picky eater and after looking at the menus L'Atelier and Flagstaff they seemed to have more options that I would be happy with. I generally stay away from heavy sauces or dished made with heavy butter/cream. With that said Frasca has very few options on their menu without these ingredients but when I was there last year they were incredibly accomodating making me an amazing fish dish prepared simply in olive oil and lemon with sauted spinach. It was really quite delicious and they could not have been any nicer about making the change for me. The reality is any good restaurant will be accomodating in this way. We have not received any exciting reviews of L'Atelier or Flagstaff so we will stay away. Your point is well taken!
Best restaurants in Boulder and Denver
Thanks for your suggestions. We are definately set for Denver. I now wish we were there more than one night. It will be Fruition, Mizuna or the latest suggestion Luca d'Italia looks amazing - we love great Italian.
Still looking for something in Boulder. Black Cat Bistro looks wonderful but maybe too French style for us. Any other suggestions in Boulder would be appreciated.
Thanks again for your help!
Best restaurants in Boulder and Denver
My husband and I will be in Boulder for 2 nights and Denver for 1 night.
So far we have a reservation at Frasca in Boulder the first night (we have been there before and had a wonderful experience). Looking for a recommendation for the second night. We appreciate very good (melt in your mouth) food, quality service and a nice wine list. I don't eat meat so seafood/fish options are a must (although this never seems to be a problem at a good restaurant). Based on some research we have the following possibilities on our list for Boulder:
L'Atelier
Flagstaff House
Restaurant 4580
For Denver we have the following possibilities on our list:
Mizuna
Rioja
Jax Fish house
Rioja
Bistro Vendome
Venice
Recommendations from those up-to-date with whats good in Boulder/Denver will be much appreciated.
Thanks!!!!
David Bouley's "Evolution" Comes to The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach
We tried Evolution as well. It was the best dining experience we have had in South Florida. My husband had the tasting menu and I did not - I had an appetiser and entree. The chef felt badly that I would not be eating while my husband had his middle dish (salmon) so he served me the same dish at no charge. I had the seafood appetiser and scallop crusted seabass for my main entree. Everything was melt in your mouth delicious. Service was exceptional. Expensive but worth it if you can afford it. We will be back.
Fried Chicken
Thanks for all your suggestions. We ended up taking out at both the 11th Street Diner and Cafeteria. Cafeteria was by far the better choice. We actually asked for the fried chicken entree without the waffle and with fries instead. The chicken was crispy and flavorful. The fries were large thick steak fries and were very good.
Fried chicken was what my husband wanted for his birthday dinner - and he was very happy! I think Joes will remain his number one choice but Cafeteria is a good/close second.
Thanks again.
New dim sum King in Miami
We completely agree. We have been loyal patrons of Tropical Chinese for many years. But we live on the beach and were very excited to try something new and close by. The dim sum was very good. It seemed like they has less of a selection than Tropical but the quality was better. We also tried Mr. Chu for dinner one night. They don't have dim sum at night but the meal we had was excellent. The jumbo shrimp and vegetable dish had perfectly cooked EXTRA JUMBO shrimp in a delicious white sauce. And they are very accomodating. We requested a side of spicy eggplant which was not on the menu and they were happy to prepare it for us. It came to the table steaming hot and it was delicious.
Fried Chicken
Looking for the best fried chicken on or near miami beach - something besides Joes - Joes is closed until October.
