saturday night in poughkeepsie?

hey solstice444 & leslie, thanks for the recs. we ended up at beechview or beechwood tavern and had some good appetizers, fried calamari and this awesome plate of brie w/ roasted garlic cloves and this bell pepper type bruschetta that was delicious. then we ended up at crew for a martini. that place was nice, vibewise and decorwise. i really would like to try the food next time! and no, ive never heard of gunk haus, but it sounds right up my alley leslie!

saturday night in poughkeepsie?

hey everyone, i will be in the area saturday night, and am wondering what's good and maybe off the beaten path in poughkeepsie or nearby. nothing too expensive, something like a place w/ good bar food and good beer. i was thinking of new paltz, but have been to most of the spots there. are the vietnamese places in town still there, and if so, any good? thanks for any info!

good peruvian bakeries in PC?

i figure if there's good peruvian restaurants, there must be some good bakeries...i am yearning for some good coffee and an alfajore like nobody's business! or any other bakeries that make similar stuff, like some good empanadas. muchas gracias for any information

LA transplant craving fish tacos - Westchester

hey AC, do they still have $0.99 fish tacos @ TBE on wednesdays? oh how i miss that place, and just LA in general. what kind of fish do they use there, do you know?

in need of assistance! both delorenzo's locales are closed mondays; should i go to papa's?

papa's ended up having really good pizza. we were the first customers in the place, and i loved the old school ambience; awesome service by cindy too! we had the monday pizza special: a large white broccoli pizza for $15 ($2 extra for fresh spinach), which i thought was very reasonable. it was DELICIOUS! i could hardly stop eating it...nice, fresh ricotta, fresh spinach, al dente broccoli florets, yum. the crust was nice; a lil chewy, charred and just the right amount of salt. next time, id get some fresh garlic on it, but garlic powder sufficed just fine. we also ordered a tomato pie, which was good also, but not as good as the white! i liked how it was a bit sweet though, although i'd be happier w/ more tomatoes and less cheese. i did like eating one white slice then one red slice though, ill admit! i also had a taste of the red cream soda, which was way too sweet for me, but i liked sipping it after the garlicky pizza. anyway, if you haven't tried papa's, give em a shot; they haven't been there 99 years for no reason!

in need of assistance! both delorenzo's locales are closed mondays; should i go to papa's?

hello, ive had delorenzo's on my must try list for a looong time now, and will be in PA about 40 miles or so away from trenton, and whaddya know? both locations are closed mondays (except for one in some cafe called risoldi's i think?)! now, ive never had a trenton tomato pie, so don't know what to expect, but since papa's has been around almost 100 years and has just as good reviews on yelp, i figure i should just go there. thanks for any info, it's much appreciated!

what's good around chalfont/doylestown?

hello, i will be heading to this area tomorrow, and am wondering if there are any not-to-miss places in the area. i really want to go to trenton to try delorenzo's, but alas, they are closed on mondays! either pizza or some down home PA style cooking would fit the bill. thanks for any info!

if no galatoire's for NYE, then what?

just wondering what a good back up plan is if we can't get in? right now it's all booked up, so ill have to stand in line; does this mean ill have to eat dinner super early? i'd like to eat around 8ish, not at 5! the pelican club came to mind, never been, but looks really nice. green goddess too (went for lunch once last october). also, places that are less expensive i'd like to have on the radar as well...thanks again!

new years in NOLA; what to expect?

hey bill, have you ever had the jazz brunch at commander's? we will be arriving next friday morning at 10:30 a.m. (weather permitting), and am unsure of where to eat first. i actually made a res at CP for a 1:00 lunch, and then i was thinking of galatoire's for dinner, but i agree w/ you being too much in one day. then i thought the brunch would be something fun to do on new years day; any particular favorite jazz brunches, because i know a few places do them. i really need to get my itinerary in order...thanks for any info!

new years in NOLA; what to expect?

hello, i will be returning to new orleans just in time to bring in the new year, but have no clue what to expect restaurant-wise. i imagine it's utter craziness, but i just hope it won't be impossible to get a reservation. i also have no clue where i would want to have a celebratory dinner (i have been to clancy's, brigtsens, CP, etc.), so would like to try a place ive never been), but my friend and i would love to have a fantastic seafood dinner, then catch some live music. also, what's up on new years day; is everyone recovering, w/ not many places open? i appreciate any info, and thanks for reading!

best breakfast on the way to thomaston from portland on a monday?

ok, i think this should just about cover it. i would like to stop at morse's for breakfast, but of course they don't do breakfast mondays. since our plans are undecided where we're staying as of now, i don't know if we will definitely be in portland, but not too far from there i imagine (heading north). maybe moody's diner since ive never actually eaten there, just have taken pie slices to go. ummm 4 berry pie for breakfast! thanks for any tips!

best breakfast in north conway on a sunday? & north conway to portland, ME; what's good?

thanks for the heads up moira and pbanjo; i will check to see if they have menus online. i'm sure there's a lot to choose from, and last time i was up there we didn't eat any meals out. any good friday night dinner recs, not too expensive, maybe like a pub w/ some good local beers and grub? thanks!

2 nights in rockland; suzuki's or conte's?

hello i'm trying to decide which place to eat dinner at tuesday. i wish i could eat at both on the same night (i guess this is feasible), but seems silly. ive eaten at suzuki's, but never conte's, and am dying to try the food there because i just love the ambience. i think my friend would really dig it too. are the portions so big there that 2 people can eat 1 entree? and what's the best spot for a good lobster roll in the area? man i can't wait...thanks for the 411!

best breakfast in north conway on a sunday? & north conway to portland, ME; what's good?

hello, my friend and i are driving from NH to portland, ME this coming sunday, and i have no idea about anything in the area. i love quirky, off-the-beaten path types of places, and i love local anything. an ice cream spot, or pub would probably be sufficient (i doubt we'll be very hungry). we plan on either staying in portland sunday night or hopefully finding a good camping spot by the water; i hope we can find one! thanks for any info

what's good by burlingame state park in RI? also, fave breakfast in (or on the way to) newport?!

hey, thanks for the great responses all; i cant wait to check out some good ole fashioned new england seafood in RI! i'm hoping matunuck oyster bar is easy to find? anything i must order (i eat anything from the ocean, be it raw, fried, steamed, etc.)? @john, what is the difference between the 3 breakfast places you mentioned? i like homestyle breakfasts w/ excellent baked goods, waffles, etc. and if they combine fish w/ breakfast stuff, that's a huge +! thanks again...

what's good by burlingame state park in RI? also, fave breakfast in (or on the way to) newport?!

hello, my friend and i are heading up to the folk festival this wknd, and will be camping in burlingame saturday night. i am wondering what's good for an excellent, yet casual seafood dinner; i'm hoping there's a shack type place not too far from the campground. also, where should we stop for breakfast on the way to the festival? i'm sure everything will be packed, so we will be sure to leave early. btw, is aunt carrie's a must do, because i loves me some pie & indian pudding...thanks for your help!

on the way to baxter this wknd!

greetings folks, i am curious as to what may be good in millinocket or its environs. we will be arriving some time friday evening, so not sure if we'll be eating at the campground, but if we don't, i want to be prepared! cuisine is not so much an issue, but somewhere w/ a good wine and beer selection is a huge + (we are big beer drinkers!). also, we'll be coming up 95 and would LOVE to get some lobster before heading inland; what place would you recommend that's not terribly far from the highway? i was thinking the place in freeport, harraseeket, cuz ive seen it pop up a lot here. oh, and lastly, where's the good ice cream spots, cuz we can't forget those! many thanks, ciao
