Nice Picnic Locations, Bucks-Mont Area, Any Suggestions?
Thanks VE, DelVal is close. Thanks all.
Nice Picnic Locations, Bucks-Mont Area, Any Suggestions?
Thanks for all of the suggestions. Just looking for something other than the run of the mill park picnic areas.
Nice Picnic Locations, Bucks-Mont Area, Any Suggestions?
Does anyone know of any nice picnic locations for a romantic picnic. Not the typical picnic areas that are located in parks such as Peace Valley or Nockamixon. Somewhere where one can be relartvely alone with nature in a tranquil spot, with shade, possibly a nice babbling brook or creek. Suggestions appreciated.
Tn'T Pies, Anyone Know Where Available?
Thanks everyone for the input. Yes they are the ones that used to be in an open end wax paper bag. I would assume that they may have changed the package to something more tamper evident in this day and age. I would imagine that they are readily available throughout the Lancaster County and Central PA vicinity which is no too convenient when I may get an urge for one or two pies. Used to be all over the Philly area years ago.
Tn'T Pies, Anyone Know Where Available?
Thanks gakski but I've already been that route trying to find a local outlet. Still waiting to hear from their local distributor.
Tn'T Pies, Anyone Know Where Available?
Years ago I used to be able to get Tn'T single serving pies locally at some convenience stores. They are baked in Lancaster County and in my opinion are superior to TastyKake Pies. Recently I have had a craving for them and have contacted their bakery to see where they might be available in the Bucks-Mont area. The bakery responded that they would have a local distributor get back to me but as of yet no response from them. Anyone know where these might be sold?
Where to buy good prepared horseradish?
I've found that Kelchners is not what it used to be. Maybe it's hit or miss but I may have gotten my horseradish tastebuds changed and spoiled with Zayda's. Problem is it can't be found in the burbs. The only place that I know that sells Zayda's is Swiacki Meats polish butchers on Salmon St in Port Richmond. http://swiackimeats.com/
Live Crabs in Bucks or Montco
Once again thanks for the good responses. Will have to try Pike's.
Live Crabs in Bucks or Montco
Thanks for all the replies. A co-worker had asked where to get them. There seems to be fewer places than there were years ago.
Live Crabs in Bucks or Montco
Anyone know where one can buy live crabs in the Bucks/Montco area? By the dozen or bushel. Used to see places with signs or trucks by the side of the road occasionally, but not recently.
Legal Seafoods at Philadelphia Airport?!?! Is it true?

The elusive fried oyster

The Stadium, former Hilltown Pub
Thanks Bucksguy. We were looking for somewhere simple to go and always liked the Pub on occasion. We did go Sat night. Very different. Sports bar with the typical sports bar food, burgers etc.
The Stadium, former Hilltown Pub
Anyone try this since the renovation and new management?
Tried the new Ooka tonight in Montgomeryville
Went to Ooka Montgomeryville last night. This was our second visit there and have been to the Doylestown location numerous times and always enjoyed our visits until last night. We ate in the Hibachi grill as we enjoy the food and the show that the chefs put on. We were not disappointed with the chef or the food, or should I say the food that we actually received. We ordered drinks. The two beers came out realtively quickly but the 2 martini's seemed to be MIA. We had also ordered appetizers. Seemed as if our waitress was also MIA. The chef rolled in the cart to prepare the main courses and low and behold here comes the 2 martinis, still no sign of the appetizers. The waitress informed us that they would bethere momentarily and we told her to cancel the order at that point. Perhaps she was new so we'll give her some slack. After the main couse was well underway another waitress came out with a sushi order and apologized for the delay. We did not order sushi, another couple at the table did. Never was another drink order taken or water glasses refilled. We finished our meals and at that point all we wanted was the check. Here she comes and informs everyone that she had gotten the orders mixed up with another table and could we all once again recite our orders. About 10 minutes later she return, with the check? Of course not, she once again wanted to know what we all had to eat. That was it, the slack we had given her just just disappeared as my wife and I bolted for the manager. He informed my wife that he had numerous complaints about her and she indeed was not a rookie. Kudos to the manager as we was truly apologetic and reissued a check which he reduced by more than 10%. I did not stiff the tip as I was pleased with the chef and the remainder of the staff. I'm sure that this was an isolated incident and I would not hesitate to try that location in the future.
Gimaro Seafood & Steak, Montgomeryville PA
hungrygirl, I agree, we also tried it as it is not far from home, terrible.
Live or Steamed Jumbo Blue Crabs in Bucks-Mont
Does anyone know of anyone selling either live or steamed jumbo blue crabs in Bucks or Montgomery Counties. I hate to have to go to Philly or Jersey to find them. I've had Crabby Larrys in Chalfont, never saw that he had jumbos, and I know of Hellers in Warrington but have never bought there. Might just save me a trip to Woody's in North East, MD, although it does make for a fun day. Thanks for any help.
Zayda's Horseradish, Where to buy in Buck-Mont area?
Does anyone know of any retailers in Bucks or Montgomery County that sells Zayda's? Or do I have to go to Swiaki's on Salmon St in Port Richmond? I am in the Montgomeryville area.
Thanks for any hepl.
Fish and Chips (Mont.Co.)
Had dinner at Chadwicks in Audubon last night while visiting friends in K of P. Had the Fish & Chips and it was the best I've had in a long time. Just the right amount of crunch then the flaky cod. I've pasted the description from their menu:
Beer Battered Cod Fresh cod loin flash fried in a Corona® beer batter and served with a jalapeño tartar sauce.
The fries were great, crisp not soggy. If you like mushroom soup theirs was very good as well. Never had mushroom soup that was so full of flavorful mushroom.

The Sands, Bethlehem, Hellertown Area
lvsnyder & EastPA thanks for the responses. Really looking for anything, not upscale. My wife's aunt just moved up from Texas to Bethlehem. They both like to gamble and we will be up there today and we are looking for some diversity in the area when we visit. Springtown Inn looks like it might be good as it has not only full meals but also their Tavern menu, so we might give that a try. Any suggestions in the area are helpful as we can get her more acclimated to the area. Thanks again.
The Sands, Bethlehem, Hellertown Area
Was at the Sands Casino a few weeks back and had dinner at the Irish Pub at the Sands. Service was extremely slow, and the food nothing to write home about. I know Emeril's is in the Sands but may be too rich for my wallet. Any suggestions for a Sunday dinner in the vicinity. I read some reviews on the Springtown Inn that sound good.
The elusive fried oyster
If Perkasie is not too far, A Country Place on 313 was excellent last time I was there which was quite some time ago. Plump, fresh and hand breaded.
More about Hoagies
I've only ever had a Wawa hoagie once. Took it out on a tuna fishing trip. After 4 - 5 hours travelling out of Barnegat to get to the canyon and fishing for a few hours was I ever hungry. Two bites of the Wawa hoagie and I threw it overboard. Needless to say it was a long day on an empty stomach.
Broad Axe Tavern opening
I was wondering where will you park? The parking lot that was there now has a bank, I believe, on it. Even when that was there parking could be tough.
Lunch Recommendations in New Hope?
My wife and I enjoy the Logan, and Havana is good as well. However there are many good places in New Hope that we have not tried.
