Good "French Canadian/Quebecois" food
I have some friends coming next week and they requested I find a good 'french canadian/quebecoise' restaurant for supper that isn't greasy, ie. good quality traditional cuisine on the menu as well as other things. They don;'t much like heavy sauces, either. I am thinking of something in the range of 30-40 dollars per person for a meal, without wine.
Any suggestions most appreciated.
Where is the best West African restaurant in Montreal?
There is a place on Park just north of Mont Royal on the west side of the street. It is a combined grocery/restaurant. Very good and very authentic.
Edible flower essence
Akhavan has rose water and orange blossom water and probably others. You can probably find these in any Middle Eastern store as well as Indian store.
Cozy Café in Montreal
Great coffee, yes, but very small and busy. Not cozy in the least. When spring comes you can sit on the terrasse; that's a bit less noisy.
Cozy Café in Montreal
I agree about Ncochi. They have changed owners but still have basically the same quiet vibe and great desserts and a great selection of tea. Can't vouch for the coffee, but it will probably be good given the other quality stuff they sell.
Anyone been to Pastaga yet?
Went just before Christmas. It was excellent. Great wines. Great service and the tapas were wonderful.
Breakfast and wi fi downtown or St. Henri
Yes, went to La Bistrote this week. Had a bagel and smoked salmon, and the atmosphere was wonderful (it was quite empty at 9 am though!). But was looking for full breakfast. I didn't realize Toi Moi et Cafe had wifi as there is no sticker on their door saying that. Will check it out. Always looking for other recommendations too!
Breakfast and wi fi downtown or St. Henri
So, given my clarification, still looking for help for weekday breakfast and wifi!
Breakfast and wi fi downtown or St. Henri
Thanks. I should have specified that when I wrote 'breakfast' I meant also at breakfast time on a weekday...ie. around 9 am! Burgundy Lion isn't open until 11:30 am on weekdays according to their website so not sure how they could serve breakfast at that hour!
Breakfast and wi fi downtown or St. Henri
I am looking for a place which serves 'real breakfast' in the downtown, westmount, or st. henri/notre dame west areas that also has free wi-fi. When I say real breakfast, I mean bacon and eggs, pancakes, waffles, etc. Most of the places on other sites list places with wifi and breakfast but most of them only have croissants, bagels and coffee. Thanks
An Alternate Layover in Montreal
Is The Layover a TV show? On what channel? And when was this broadcast? Will it be on again? Thanks. (ps. who is "Tony"?)
Hungarian food in Montreal? Or other central European
The old stand by, and quite inexpensive, Mazurka is Polish. On Prince Arthur east of St. Laurent.
Best Pastry shop (patisserie) in Montreal?
I had "moeulleux" at Rhubarbe yesterday. It was exquisite! (I had never had something like that before). By the way, what is a good translation of moeuleeux in English?
We also tried Farine et Eaux Fraiche on Amherst. Wonderful!
Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice Tea
Can't seem to find this tea in stores n Montreal. Any ideas?
Looking for a good restaurant with good vegetarian options near Quartier Latin cinema
Went to Menthe et Chocolat. It was quite good and the waitress was really friendly. Thanks all.
Fiddleheads in Montreal
I am making a recipe this week that involves fiddleheads. I know the season for fresh is in the spring, but anyone know where I might find fresh or frozen fiddleheads? Thanks.
Mont Tremblant Ski Area Eats - Walking Distance ONLY
Take a shuttle into St. Jovite. It is worth it as the re are good restaurants there. You can always take a taxi back.
Reasonably priced chef's table
Is 'chef's table the same a table d'hote? If not, what is the difference?
Looking for a good restaurant with good vegetarian options near Quartier Latin cinema

Looking for a good restaurant with good vegetarian options near Quartier Latin cinema

Looking for a good restaurant with good vegetarian options near Quartier Latin cinema
Thanks. Is it a relatively quick place to eat? Any other suggestions that might be closer? (some of our party walk very slowly so 15 minutes on google might be 25 minutes for them)
Looking for a good restaurant with good vegetarian options near Quartier Latin cinema
That is my request for help. Part of our party going to a movie there is a vegetarian. Most of the restaurants on st. denis nearby are more for tourists. Any suggestions within walking distance of Quartier Latin Cinema, near de Maisonneuve and St. Denis most welcome. Thanks.
Anybody been to the bistro at the Mont-Royal Pavillon?
Had the worst meal I ever had in Montreal there a couple of years ago. Warmed over chicken, tasteless tomato sauce, dry couscous. We were so embarrassed for the restaurant we walked out without complaining. Service was also humdrum. Maybe it has improved; I hope so, but we will never go back until I hear more than one superlative review.
Any fabulous restaurants worth driving out of Montreal for?
Bistrogolf (I kid you not) is an excellent restaurant in St. Sauveur. The food is not expensive, is from Ile de la Reunion, different and tasty and served in these litte metal pots and the service is top notch. And if you like to golf, you can try out their virtual golf!

Regina shopping for fine food
The Indian store (which has more than just Indian food) is called Tony's. It is just west of Arcola, not east).
PS in terms of bigger grocery stores, Sobey's on Hillsdale has a good selection of gourmet items. They didn't have sherry cooking vinegar, though. I tried everywhere but the only place that had that was the Safeways at Southland.
Seeking destination restaurant in Southern Vermont
We went to the Prince and the Pauper in August. We just happened by there and could only get bar seats but that was a great choice. Got to chat with the barkeep and enjoyed an excellent meal. Well worth the visit!
Help me feed a crunchy BC hippie relative...PLEASE!

Les Délices de l’ile Maurice Restaurant: Horrid experience
Sylvester sold or gave the place to his nephew a while ago. Not sure if the owner now is the nephew, or whether a new owner is there now.
