Don Antonio - New Neapolitan Pizzeria in Midtown
Perhaps describing it as "thick" is inaccurate. Better to say, not thin and crispy. I just don't like pizza with a soggy middle (and it's soggier still with any toppings on it).
Don Antonio - New Neapolitan Pizzeria in Midtown
We went To Don Antonio for an early dinner after the theater this afternoon, and there were lots of tables. Somehow I was thinking thin crust pizza: wrong. The usual :a bit thick and soggy in the middle. The toppings were fine. A lot of hype: I thought Don Antonio was nothing special. .
New Harmony Vegetarian (Chinatown)
I know this restaurant fills a niche-- vegetarian, kosher in Chinatown. I ate there last night: food and service both poor. I won't be going back. I've certainly had better vegetarian Chinese.
Excellent Dinner at Vedge
We loved Horizons and look forward to trying Vedge. I am surprised to see no further discussion on the Philadelphia Board. Has anyone else been to Vedge?
Fiorino in East Falls
Reviewed in today's Inquirer, anyone been? We've been disappointed by some of his favorites in the past.
Lunch in Yardley
Canal Street Grille was perfect choice. Thanks for the recommendation!
Lunch in Yardley
Looking for a place for weekday lunch in Yardley with an old friend from elementary school here with his teen-aged daughter. Decent food, non-meat options, not expensive, and not for a prolonged meal. Easy parking and not too difficult to find also would help.
Can you bake or broil smoked salmon?
We have a large unopened package of smoked salmon from TJ's (overbought for a party) and are looking for things to do with it within the next week. We've considered the usual-omelet, pasta dishes. My husband has this idea that we could bake or broil it. Nothing I've ever encountered nor thought about. Any thoughts?
PHL Airport Dilemma -- Is there a solution?
Maybe get some delicious takeout and bring it to your friend at the airport, along with something for the dog?
Good bakeries in the burbs?
I also am not a fan of Weinrich's. Heavy-handed birthday cakes, the kind my kids would like (and they do).
Soy ice cream
Anyone have experience making soy ice cream at home in an ice cream maker? Any recipes?
Looking for a Moroccan restaurant anywhere in Manhattan
The subject line says it all.
Dinner at Argan
It was relatively empty between 7 and 7:45 or so on a Saturday night, but there was more activity after that. It was never packed. We had the Moroccan spreads (they were okay) and another appetizer not on the menu with phyllo and chicken. It also was okay (a bit bland). All of us had soup (harira). Again, okay not especially flavorful. The meat eaters had couscous with lamb or chicken, not particularly flavorful. No one was jumping up and down about the couscous. My husband said the lamb was hardly recognizable as lamb. I had the vegetarian pasta dish, which was okay (and not really Moroccan, I suspect). We didn't try any of the desserts.
Dinner at Argan
Try it: I'd love to know what you think. We expected to love the food, so if this was an off-night, that would be good news! And of course typo in my original post (should be, "did LaBan eat at the same restaurant?").
Dinner at Argan
Craig LaBan had great things to say; did he ate at the same restaurant? We anticipated the great flavors of spices used in Moroccan cooking, but our foursome found the food to be bland. Nothing was terrible, but we don't plan to go back. I know people rave about the lamb sandwiches, but we found dinner at Argan thoroughly uninspired.
Turkey for Thanksgiving in Montgomery County
Thanks all. Took your advice: this year's turkey from Bolton's was a winner! And pies and breads from nearby Tabora Farm and Orchard also were wonderful. Ours was a memorable Thanksgiving dinner!
Bagels, theater district
I'm going to the theater this weekend and would like to bring good bagels back home to Philadelphia, land of the mediocre bagel. One posting mentions Times Square Bagel but it doesn't seem very close to where I'll be. Any other suggestions?

Thanksgiving out minus the pork?
Not sure where you are in the region, but Jim Coleman's Normandy Farm seems to have plenty of non-porcine choices. We also are non-pork eaters.

Turkey for Thanksgiving in Montgomery County
Looking for a high quality turkey in Montgomery County (we live in Ambler). Any suggestions?
Kosher Catering Philadelphia
Food Designs, Inc. did Shabbat dinner for my son's Bar Mitzvah 3 years ago (Jannette Axelrod) 215-284-7569. The food was excellent. I don't have current cost information, but at the time their prices were very reasonable compared to some of the other kosher caterers around. I would recommend them with enthusiasm.

Good Pizza? Montco
I'll be interested to hear what AmyRF25 thinks of Grandma's Grotto. Not a fan of the pizza from Grandma's, so I'm still looking....
Good Pizza? Montco
I also come from New York and live in Montgomery Cty . I'm still searching for good pizza. I was disappointed in Jules (Jenkintown) and won't go back. Arpeggio in Spring House has respectable pizza.
Great milkshake in ambler area?
Costa's is my son's favorite milkshake place. if you go, you'll feel that you're entering a time warp. The place probably hasn't changed in 50 years.
Tutto Mario in Chalfont
Anyone know about this BYO, in particular, what's of special interest on the menu?

Uses for lots of sliced French bread
We had people over for a reception and have a lot of leftover food, including a lot of sliced French bread. Any good ideas for what to do with it other than to discard it?
Fathers' Day: Ft. Washington-ish
Have you looked into Jim Coleman's place at Normandy Farms in Blue Bell?
