Craft??
okay, I think it's EMP for certain. Any menu suggestions? I don't know if I am brave enough to try sweetbreads, I have a mental block with some things.
Craft??
thanks for the replies. I have been reading a great deal about EMP on this board over the past year or two, and always wondered if it would live up to the outstanding reviews. maybe a few more people will chime in and help solidify this for me.
Craft??
Hey Guys,
Where should I go for my anniversary? I was thinking about Craft, Babbo, Ramsay's The London, Gramercy Tavern, or maybe EMP.
I have never been to any of them, but obviously hear excellent things. The best meal I ever had in my life was 9 years ago at Le Cirque. I have also been to Perilla and Keens, which were both outstanding (I have been to a few other excellent ones, but they are not "famous" enough to bother mentioning). I do not get the opportunity to frequent the restaurants in NYC that often because I live in NJ and have a 4 year old that I don't like to leave with a babysitter. Hardcore French is probably not a good idea because my wife does not get into things like foie gras, squab, and sweetbreads, that said, French is not totally out of the question. Price is not an issue (within reason, I don't want to spend $1,000 on a dinner for two, but with wine I would go $500 - $600), however I really do want a meal that will replace my 9 year old favorite meal of all time. Some of my favorite things to eat in no particular order are: Veal, Halibut, Wild Boar, Crab, and Scallops. I really value the opinions on this board, and look forward to your suggestions.
Thanks!!
Anniversary - Wife is kind of picky
thanks so much, I will run the menu by her. I think it might be down to USC, Perilla, or Craft
Anniversary - Wife is kind of picky
I have seen a lot of posts that say USC has fell off and not really worth it anymore. I already showed her the menu for GT and she didn't like it. what about Perilla?

thanks so much guys. Gotham Bar and Grill was actually one of the ones I was considering.
Anniversary - Wife is kind of picky
I need a top NYC restaurant for my anniversary. My wife gets put off by French type menu's but often likes the food I order at nice restaurants (I recently got her to fall in love with wild boar once she gave it a chance, and yes I know wild boar is not French, I was just making a point). Is there a great restaurant that has a menu that won't freak her out? We have been to places like LeCirque and she just stares at the menu and gives me a look like I hate everything on this menu (even though she usually enjoys the food in the end). She is very simple, loves Mexican (I know NY has not figured out Mexican yet), Hibatchi and simple Italian dishes. However, it's my anniversary also, and I don't get to eat at the type of places I would like to go very often. Is there any middle ground? Is there place with enough inventive but "normal" choices, but still some interesting things for me? Price is not important, cuisine is not important, but a cround under 40 is important to her.
THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!!
