Roasted Potatoes

Made this last night in my toaster oven. Came out great, although I crushed the garlic too much which resulted in burnt garlic chunks. I'm guessing that leaving them more whole would have yielded edible cloves.

Thanks for the recipe.

Electric Pressure Cooker?

With the electric pressure cooker how are the aromatic effects in the house? I know it's an odd question but I live in a loft that is attached to my business and I can't cook things with an odor that extends past 9 hours.

I would use a crock pot for most soups but the all day stewing would make my store smell. I'm hoping that a pressure cooker is more ideal for the containment of odor as well as restricting the cooking time. Am I correct in this assumption?

Oh, and anybody play around with a pressure fryer yet?

Good Thai in KC or Overland Park?

My inlaws rave about Thai Place but I found the food to be servicable yet slightly over priced. Like their pineapple fried rice, you're only paying that much to have it served in a hollowed out pineapple shell.

Ultimately, its food is comparable to an average Thai place in Los Angeles. Reading these reccomendations here it looks like I should try Thai Orchid when I get the chance.

LA folks - Couple of questions

Sad to hear. What happened?

LA folks - Couple of questions

You should check out the Japanese area on Sawtelle Blvd. There's a string of little awesome restraunts and of course Furaibo all within walking distance of each other.

Dream Sawtelle dinner would be getting sloshed on wings and beer at Furaibo followed by fried meatload curry and wine at the Sawtelle Kitchen.

I need to get a plane ticket.

Cajun Dirty Rice

So many angry traditionalists here. I love it.

But you guys need to publish your own recipes.. It's frustrating to read somone's light version just to then have to frankenstein something more substantial together by reading a chain of criticicisms.

What regional foods do people just get wrong?

Too true.

I think this happens because most restraunt owners have huge egos and think they will make a name for themselves with their own bizarre recipes. So they dellude themselves into thinking they can improve on a classic when all they end up doing is undermining it.

Gyu Don

I used to get this stuff at Njiya market in LA. Great stuff... I'd like to give this recipe a try but finding dashi and real mirin out here in Missouri is impossible.
