Best burger in Mon/OC?

Here are my recommendations.

1) Gaithers in Sea Bright. I personally avoid that town at all costs.

2) Pine Tree Tavern in Old Bridge. I swear I had the best burger there one night that was so good. I took my young son back and I swear if you could recycle a burger it was done. The bacon was dried and and like had been sitting around for 5 or 6 hours. Friends say it is back to the original way things were done.

3) Globe in Red Bank.

Need recommendation, Sea Bright/Long Branch

I like Zacharys which is across from Monmouth Park Track on 36. Not much of a view but the food selection and prices are right on for what your looking for.

McLoones Riverside.
Bahrs?
Wind and Sea
Crabhut.

I always recommend staying out of Policetrapville...(SeaBright)

best reastaurant to hold a celebration in central nj for 50 people

bak7701,

These are the places I would recommend if you wanted to take photos and such for the backdrop. All of these places are within 5 miles of each other and on the water. They are all easily able to accomodate your size party.

I agree with the previous mention of the Channel Club by HillJ. Good spot for reception, I wasn't impressed at all with the food and the style it was served but that could have been the choice by the parties holding the wedding too.
http://www.channelclubnj.com/

On the Sea Bright side of the strand.
We have had numerous corporate picnics at this place and it is very accomodating and does a huge amount of weddings and receptions. Might be pricey, but none the less a really good place to remember that special day.
http://www.merrimakers.com/locations/watersedge.html

Just down the road is this hotel which we had a Corporate Meet and Greet. Easily able to handle your size of party, right on the beach, I believe it was owned by someone else when we had our functions so I can't attest to the food now.

I also think McLoones Rum Runner the one at the top of the strand facing the river would be a good place. I have heard the food is some of the best and driving by it alot and being a photographer it would be a good site to have a wedding.

The Molly Pitcher in Red Bank is nice and has some great views of the Navesink River. Its on the bottom of the list as I just don't think the photography options are all that great here. Food is okay.

Salt Creek Grille. Can't stand that bridge. Have heard and read too many hit or miss stories on the place. You can use search function on here to do reviews of it.

gourmet markets/deli's

I'll second the nod for this place. I like going in for just the smells.

I will also add on RT34 in Aberdeen there is an Italian place next to the McDonalds which is also very very good. The name is similar but I want to say Fertellis, Federuccis, Fratellis....something like that.

Where can i find a GREAT lobster roll in Monmouth/Ocean Counties..or close by?

The food has received alot of good reviews in a bunch of papers. We had the lobster penne and my son raves about how good it was and wants me to make it or take him back.

We will definately be going back. We only live a couple of miles down the road.

The one other place that always has a good lobster roll is Legals Seafood restaurants. Short Hills Mall or Palisades Mall.

Any excellent Indian food in the sayreville/south amboy area?

Right by the Sayreville Water tower there is a good place up the hill. Its behind Patels Indian grocery that you may or may not be able to see from 9.

Pastrami, Hot Dogs and Pizza near Eatontown, Asbury Park, Jersey Shore

Goldens Deli on Staten Island is about the same distance and the portion sizes are actually human!

However nothing beats the sizes if it is the first time as a Harolds.

White Castles off of I-95

Bring up Google Maps.http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&...
Click on the find businesses tab and type in White Castle Restaurants.

There are 24000 locations. Shouldn't be that hard.

I would plug start and stop destinations in and then do the above and you can actually see those or detour to those along the route.

Piero's ~Union Beach

Always busy, family and friends say they have very good food but pricey. They all recommend instead Cervinos which is about 3/4 of mile from Pieros.

I might add depending on the weather and winds the IFF plants across the streets can leave some mighty strong odors which may be good or bad. Sometimes the area smells like really really strong Irish Spring, other days its just OOOH what is that!

Authentic Mexican Food in Monmouth Cty

Tried out El Monterey in Asbury Park on Rt71 next to the Salvation Army Store. Food is really good. Large Menu...all in Spanish, prices are reasonable, huge sitting area. BYO, decor is plain but interesting. Chips and salsas before meal make it worth going back for. Everything is Mexican including the sodas. Don't believe they sell anything gringo. Only complaint is they nuke the whole plate in order to melt the cheeses which...nukes everything.

Filipino Food in Red Bank/Middletown

It is closed. Talked to the guy that owns the computer repair store next door today, and he said they left about two weeks ago. Didn't say why they left except that they were gone for good.

Pirates Cove at or near the Belford Coop has some really good dishes. Would highly recommend it on a nice summer evening or weekend day.

The Flakey Tart - OMG-My Review!

As you are driving towards the Harbor its right across the street from the elementary school next to the Marina/Boating Store on the left hand side of the street. Memphis Pig out is actually about a good 6 to 7 hundred yards down the road.

Their brownies and macaroni and cheese are heavenly.

Middletown/Hazlet - good take-out pizza?

If your favorite Hazlet Pizza was the one next to Toys R US he has a place across the street from Childrens Wearhouse in the Holmdel Commons Strip.

A little further up 35 towards RedBank is Fratellis next to Baja Fresh which is good.

Naples in Belford has a great Marghertia Pie.

Tough Question - Outdoor Facility for a Birthday

Our Hockey team always uses Geick Park on 516. Its more then adequate for what we need. Hurry and reserve though early as Graduations are heavy during that time frame.

If that is a nogo you might also check with some of the nicer housing communities as most have a clubhouse that they may rent to you,

Buying fresh seafood in Monmouth County

The Belford or Port Monmouth fishery is about 5 miles from the Asian Market which is in Middletown on Route 35 also sells plenty of fish. I swear in the one shed alone there are 25-40 tanks of lobsters swimming around. Its close to the Pirates Cove restaurant which I might add is very good. As for prices they were comparable to what you would pay just about anywhere else for whatever you want.

Authentic Mexican Food in Monmouth Cty

Stopped in at Chalupas in Red Bank tonight 12/29 and the place has changed names and portion sizes. It is now Senor Peppes. We used to order a Spicy Pork Burrito off of the Adult menu and split it. Tonight it wasn't big enough to feed a 11 year old. The salads on top and even the ingredients had changed. My son was so upset he vowed to never return. While the menu remains the same the sizes are way down. Even a bowl of refried beans is not the same. The prices remain the same though.

Also stopped in Sapo Verde in Atlantic Highlands this week. Food was nuked or not prepared freshly. I guess were back to Jaunitos or driving to Freehold.

NY Style Jewish Deli and Chinese Food in Asbury Park Area

It very well could be. It was probably 3 years ago. All I remember is it was right over the train tracks on the left side if you were driving down Park Avenue towards 35. Or it would have been right before the train tracks on the right, if coming the other way. I also remember a sign for Kosher Gelat(?sp} Chicken near it that may have been fairly large.

There used to be a place in the strip mall in Aberdeen a couple of stores down from the Aberdeen Toy Store that was good but it has moved or went out of business.

If I have to get a fix I make it a habit to hit Goldens on SI or Harolds in Edison. If it is Goldens I also try and hit Alan and Andrews as they have a great 2 for 1 on Sundays.

NY Style Jewish Deli and Chinese Food in Asbury Park Area

In Deal on Park Avenue near the train tracks there is an excellent Jewish Deli. The name escapes but it is in a strip mall and when a family friend died who was Jewish that is where all the food came from. My SIL who is Jewish thought it was very good.

This place is pretty good. Its about 6 miles from OB to Union Beach.

I also think this place in Middletown is good.

I thought this places Sushi was very good, it is on 36 about 10 miles east from the place in Hazlet/Union Beach. However the service was so slow that what started as dining in turned to take and leave. I had a young child who was starved.

Where to get cheese curds in Central NJ

I don't think they have made it out here yet. I am from one of the Midwest states well known for this product and I have yet to find it.

My wife and kids love them. So do most Cardiologists as they are very hard on the arteries. But oh are they so good fresh out of the fryer.

ANY good Indian in Monmouth?

Up off of 9 there is a group of Indian grocery stores. It's right near Ernston Road near the water tower. You may be able to see a Indian Grocery Store from Ernston Road but that is it. There is one restaurants on the back side of the grocery store. You won't even be able to see it as you approach as it is on the backside and over a little incline. Neelams buys alot of his supplies from the grocery store and he told me about it and I have bought sweets from the Indian Store I belive it is called Patels. This link if you go to satellite might show the water tower and then from there you can see the grocery store at 9 O'clock which is where the stores, restaurants and I believe its a Indian Movie Rental place. http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=s&trf=...

Also if you type in the word Indian in the little "Find on the map" place it will show you exactly where I am talking about.

Bakeries - 'down the shore'

In Little Silver in the strip mall next to the A&P grocery store there is an Italian store that is at least equivilent and probably in fairness for those diehard Italians, better then Caputos. However they both are very good for pastries. The name I believe starts with an F but I could be mistaken too. Great place to pick up anything Italian.

Overrated in Monmouth County

I give my vote to the Mexican Fish Taco stand that is now heralded as the best in Monmouth County. I am withholding the name so as to prevent injury and loss of appetite to those whom do not know what restaurant I am referring to.

Now please help me understand this. No view, next to a major highway, nothing else noteworthy around to look at or do, and we proclaim it is our best resturant in all of Monmouth County and depending on whom you read the whole state?

I hate to say it but I think PT Barnum was onto something and sadly he was right.

Hunterdon/Somerset/Mercer Source for cream that is not ultra pasteurized?

Good Luck,

The only options I can think of are one pay a dairy farmer to get a gallon straight from the bulk tank or possibly the Amish.

Having grown up in the heart of dairy country you will be hard pressed to find anyone that will openly advertise or dispense of unpastuerized milk. I believe the FDA makes it so that all creams have to be ultra-pasturized.

If I had a dime for every time I drank milk straight from the bulk tank as a kid I would be a millionaire. I swear at temp, (38 degrees) you can't find a better drink for kids on a hot humid day who just climbed out of a 140 degree haymow.

By the way if you find a farmer who will let you get milk out of his tank, one of those 5 quart plastic ice cream buckets will yield about a inch to a inch and a half of solid cream once it has sat in the refrigerator over night. Which comes pretty close to a good cup and a half of cream.
