Anyone been? Thinking of stopping in for lunch this wknd. What's good?

Moti Mahal Delux

Went for lunch today, amazing food. I had the non vege set and I honestly think the appetizers would have been enough but then the chicken & lamb curries arrived w/the saag & the rice & nan..all for $13. The service was gracious even as the place started filling up.

Cooperstown - What's Good?

Went to Alex & Ika last Thurs. arrived at 1:30 or so, place was empty except for a lone diner and a family w/an infant & 2small boys. We were 4adults w/15 month old twins. It took over an hr to get our food, and the twin's Mac & cheese arrived last. Staff was nice but clueless, gave menus and plates & utensils to the twins. My new york was bubbling over, I wanted to say "I'm not sure what the hold up is but can you at least bring the kids Mac & cheese out" but I was trying to relax and not get annoyed. My med sandwich, when it finally arrived, was boring. The Mac & cheese we finally got to taste was very good, but not worth the wait. Friend's steak sand and pork dsh looked good, also enjoyed the potatoes but still Wish we had gone somewhere
else w/ better service. So I wouldn't recommend if you are looking to be in and out in less than 1.5 hrs or have small hungry children.

San Telmo Buenos Aires

I need to plan a dinner for 8 of us in San Telmo on a Friday night, Oct 5. Any favorites? Will be the welcome meal for most so a place w/great atmosphere & steak will be a plus.
Thanks

Layover?

Thanks everyone! I need to take some time to look these recommendations over & will report back.

Layover?

Hi. A friend & I will have a few hrs to kill on Tues Oct 2 in b/t arriving from NY (2:30/3pm) and leaving for Buenos Aires (9pm). Any recommendations close to a MARTA stop for some reasonably priced, unique-to-ATL chow? I realize we'll be dining at sort of in- between hours since we should be back at the airport by 7 but was hoping something fit the bill. Maybe seafood ( not sushi) since we'll be indulging in Argentinian beef for the next 2-3 weeks or any local favorites. Also, my friend has never been to Atlanta before so a place in an interesting neighborhood, maybe where we can stroll around and get a few drinks would be great.
Thanks very much in advance.

D.C. late night bars, food

thanks for the info! looking forward to my trip.

D.C. late night bars, food

Just decided to do the same w/a few friends, driving down from NYC next Friday afternoon. Where did you decide to stay? Does anyone have any recommendations for good bar food at any of the neighborhoods mentioned above?

El barrio restaurant week

None of the places listed are showing the $20.12 menus. Very annoying.

After the Ball Fields

Hi, a friend and I want to check out the Red Hook Ball fields next weekend and I was wondering where to stroll for more interesting things to sample afterwards? Is there one particular street/ave that would extend our appetite for the variety that Brooklyn has to offer?

Sunday in NY-lunch before plane to Europe-Upper East Side

Glasers Bake Shop, 1st and 87th. Old school. Great black and whites. Amazingly friendly service. And for pizza I like San Matteo on 2nd and 90th www.sanmatteopanuozzo.com
Deli? 2nd Ave deli opened a location on 75th & First. Haven't been so don't know if it's as good as other location.

Best Greek restaurant in ASTORIA and bakery too(Greek) for dessert!

Neptune Diner?
Glad you liked Artopolis. The coconut baklavah is incredible. So is everything I've had there. Last time I bought the frozen spinach pies and they too are amazing. And the service is great. I'll admit it's a bit pricey but so worth it.

Lunch in or Near Suffern

My cousins who live in Montvale took me to Turkois Grille in Airmont last Sunday and it was fantastic. The dips were great. amazing freshly baked pide bread. I had the Manti entree, best I've had in many Turkish places in NYC, my cousins can't seem to order anything but the lamb kebab as they love it so much. The service was very attentive as well. I'd highly recommend it to anyone, I hope it gets some buzz on the NJ board as well since it's so close. Surprised yours was the only mention of this place on the site, JRBlack.

Veatery on 2nd @ 88th

Ate at Italian restaurant this weekend and they only offered bottled water - sparkling or flat

"the bottle of water was 7 dollars which is not a lot of money".
$7 isn't a lot of money? For water? When you have the world's best tap water for a fraction of that price? I would have said "no thank you" or just left.
Is there a reason why you haven't named the restaurant? Many here on chowhound know about Sapori D'ischia in Woodside, would you mind telling us the name of this place so we are forewarned?

Thanksgiving Buffets

Try a hotel, Hilton by Grand Central comes to mind. Maybe you'd consider a family style place which I believe are more prevalent. Try opentable for a quick search.

Holiday Lunch in Queens for 15-20, Private Room a plus..

Well, seeing as I got such an overwhelming response to my query last year...we went back to Ponticello and they gave us a private room but it was quite large, am sure it is usually used for 3 or more large tables rather than just the one long we had. Anyone have any thoughts for this year? The only other restriction is it must have a full bar and preferably be close to a train (E, R, N).
Thanks in advance.

Lots to choose from.
Have you searched "Citifield" or "US Open" or "Flushing" or "Corona?"

Same comment about the shrimp salad. All I tasted was onion. I actually prefer the shrimp salad at the 86th St Tal.
And I actually threw out the roasted cauliflower from the app dept. I don't really love cauliflower but this stuff looked pretty good and one bite..ew. Just a really weird taste. So far have only been really impressed w/the baked goods (a blueberry crumb cake was to die for) and a work friend goes nuts over the fresh bagetttes. Before hurricane shopping she could have sold hers for a large profit from people on the street disappointed that the store closed that Saturday at 10AM!
