Martha's Vineyard suggestions

Thanks to all. I agree with all suggestions and have only one more to add:

Best lobster roll is served Friday nights Vineyard Haven, Grace Episcopal Church--$13.00 including chips and a drink. We watched many many locals come in, order 5-10 and take them "out" home? or picnic? or you can do as we did and just eat it right there. It was great. Its a fund raiser and they serve 5pm-8pm but the week before we were there, they ran out at 7pm!

Our favorite dinners were at Sweet Life Cafe-- and Slice of Life for lunch.

Excellent sandwiches can be picked up at the "general store" near Beetle Bung corner in Chilmark!

Thanks for all your suggestions!

Martha's Vineyard suggestions

Thanks for the heads up re: Thurs. bistro night at Beach Plum. Will also look up Le Grenier.

Any other suggestions for good food (but not a rip) are always welcome (bargains are not generally expected at MV!) Have a week there to enjoy as much as possible!

Martha's Vineyard suggestions

Went to Martha's Vineyard last summer and heading back July 1. Our experience was: Beach Plum restaurant-- Menemsha-- fine dining and excellent.........Sweet Life in Oak Bluffs also excellent. I enjoyed reading other posts and if any updates are out there it would make a nyc gal a happy one! Thanks!

Best Vegetarian in NYC

Blossom is my #1 vegetarian pick-
Gobo -- GV-- great for quick-- but getting a little frayed
Pure Food and Wine excellent vegetarian fine dining and outdoor patio-- but for indoor vegetarian fine, can go to the top restaurants in NYC which have vegetarian tasting dinners and really get blown out of the water! (i.e.Gramercy Tavern veg. tasting)

Baked Frozen Gefilte Fish Loaf

I too use the A&B frozen loaf brand and I boil two loaves in a very large (soup) pot with the following ingredients added: soup greens, parsnips, turnips, carrots and two tbsp. per loaf of sugar. Our guests love it; no comparison to the jarred (yuk) and..........I have made fish from scratch-- this is way cheaper and tastes just about as good.

vegetarian friendly in Murray Hill

Love Hangawi. Very zen, great food. Sublimely relaxing.

Artisanal: Terrific onion soup and steak frites; a gougeres suggestion

Fondue (artisanal) with bread and other sides (potatoes, veggies) was spectacular. And... request the table in the cheese room. Its super!@!!!!! when you can get that seating the ambience is far superior to Balthazar. (By the way, never had better fondue -- not in Switz., not at La Fondue in Paris, and not in my own kitchen with my wedding gift fondue pot from long ago!!

Any knowledge of Dell'Anima?
Went to Crispo last night and thought it was just ok, even though several raves about it on this site.

West Village favorites near the Lortel Theatre?

Looking for recommendations for excellent food about $40-50 pp pre theater during the week? Last time we went to Little Owl loved it; another person took us to Cowgirl--- hated it. Thanks in advance for all your input!

Need Help Planning 50th Anniversary Dinner for Parents

I must chime in I would not recommend Town for your event-- yes it is pretty; it is subterranean and therefore "sealed" --that's a negative as far as I am concerned. But more importantly it is overpriced and overstuffed with its own sense of importance. Important places know they are and need to make diners feel comfortable and enjoy. That has not been my sense of this place--

please suggest a downtown (34th st-14th st) rest?

Thanks so much. Trying Crispo it is!!

please suggest a downtown (34th st-14th st) rest?

Wondering what is the general understanding of how to run a restaurant and if I am the only one who has been treated rudely, suffered awful service, and its been twice in three weeks??
Anyone want to share? What do you do? Is this place only for the world's biggest traders?

Best places for an Anniversary Dinner

We just celebrated our anniversary at Gramercy Tavern. It was fabulous. Ordered the vegetarian tasting menu and had the option to change some things. Our fantastic waiter recommended the trout and it was melt in your mouth delish. We had fabulous service and food.

Celebrated my birthday at Danube and would never go back.(see another thread posted a few min. ago)

Danube vs. Wallse

Went to Danube and really felt they mostly dished "attitude" with a capital A. I live in area and would never go back there!
