Best burger in PDX

Hands down Foster Burger with bacon, 2 yr. aged cheddar and grilled onions. It's THE best burger in town, and I've been on the search since I moved here 6 years ago. Damn, I want one now...

visiting downtown portland

When are you coming to PDX? The Portland Indie Wine Festival takes place on Saturday, May 2nd. It's definitely my favorite wine-o/foodie event of the year. Some of the top restaurants will be there - Ten 01, Biwa, Simpatica...it's awesome. Check it out at www.indiewinefestival.com

If you're not here that weekend, I'd definitely hit up Ten 01 in the pearl district. They just got a new chef who's on fire. He's really down to earth and will most likely stop by the table. Also try the carts on 9th and Alder. You'll get $5 - $7 feasts. I am a big fan of Davis Street Tavern also in Old Town, which will be a nice, but close, walk. Go for the clam bisque...mmmm!

Romantic dinner in Portland?

I LOVE Tabla MB! Michael (the Sommelier) is brilliant with wine pairings and Synaca (chef) is a true talent. Tabla Tuesaday's is a must - for those who haven't been - 3 wines paired with 3 dishes a la carte. MMM.

Romantic dinner in Portland?

I'm taking my boyfriend to Park Kitchen this week for a romantic birthday dinner. A friend recommended the $40/person chef's menu, which, as I understand it, includes four plates and each person gets different line up than their dining partner.

Sounded like a steal. I'll let you know how it is!

Go-To dinner spots in PDX

I just went to Byways on Saturday morning for the first time. The Eggs Florentine was so so (I shouldn't have ordered it since tomatoes are out of season), but the hash browns and side of sausage made up for it. Finally somewhere that serves some good 'ol fashioned shredded potatoes. Yum!

Go-To dinner spots in PDX

I'll definitely try tanuki. Unfortunately, I usually am off work after happy hour so my hours of dining tend to be around 7 to 8...

Thanks for the tips! Saucesupreme - I LOVE nicholas'. We need some good Lebanese on the west side. Has anyone been to Indish yet?

Poor quality of chowhound recipes

I'm having difficulties with a Bitters recipe from this site, in fact, I can't even get into the link to make comments on the recipe! Aida, I saw that you posted the bitters and I need your advice. After scouring the world to find "gentian extract" I was told to get it from a pharmacy, which I did, but it's bright blue and says it's a topical solution that shouldn't be ingested. If anyone has advice on where to get the right product, or has insights into my dilemna I would love to hear from you.

Go-To dinner spots in PDX

I just moved to Northwest Portland and have found myself frequenting the same three dinner spots on a regular basis...boring, I know. I need to venture out! Any locals have some favorite go-to dinner spots to offer up? Price conscious please...Lucy's Table and Cafe Mingo are too $$$ for me these days.

In Need of Fine PDX Chow between Xmas and NY

I second JillO's suggestions - I LOVE ten 01.

If you want to try something new in a cool area, go for Davis Street Tavern. It's in a great space with an interesting menu. I loved the crab bisque and steak...Definitely sitter worthy.

In Search Of....The Utimate Gyro (in Portland)

Try Nicholas on MLK. I'm not a lamb eater, but I've seen some pretty juicy gyros when I've been there.
