Sunday brunch in Old Montreal

Suite 701, which is in your hotel has one of the nicest terrasses in the city! I'm not sure they have a sunday brunch but if they do just take the elevator to the roof. Cartet, Holders are both great but no terasse. Unfortunately everything else around are tourist traps.

Most Overrated Beer?

Most overrated: stella artois\heineken. Great beer that i haven't been able to find in ages is Tucher Dunkles a german brown that i thought was awesome!

Le Bourlingeur - under my radar

It's nice to see a restaurant pick up their game, i went about three years ago and ordered my beef rare and what i got was three pieces of shoe leather in a tasteless unidentifiable brown sauce. Not sure i'm brave enough to try again, for the same price, i'd hit Holder or cross the street to Stash instead. Would love to read other reviews so that maybe my mind might be changed, i live two blocks from there!!

Paella pan-what kind to buy? - moved from Home Cooking board

It might sound weird but i've always had the most success cooking paella in a wok. It might even be the only time I use it.

Am I the only one with this absurd pet peeve about bagels and cream cheese?

Agreed, I'd rather have a bagel with too much cream cheese than not enough!

Best place for business dinner in old montreal??

Holders is great! It might be tough for a group but Stash is always fantastic.

Not for a million dollars!!!

Ok, for a million dollars I would eat anthrax and hope for a cure! But there are some "foods" out there that you would have to pay me to eat.
- durian (if it smells like a duck!!!!)
- casu marzu (food shouldn't wiggle)
- rotten shark (the only time i saw Anthony Bourdain wince)
- balut (seriously why?)
- bugs (am i on fear factor!)
Just thought i'd throw it out there. Food for thought.

I've never had!!

I guess I've never considered insects as food. I don't think I could do it!! Sure would solve the world hunger problem since they outnumber us a million to one!!

I've never had!!

Wow, durian. I mean really! Can it really be that bad? Has anyone tried it? Saw Anthony Bourdain eating it on "No reservations" and he was loving it. Sometimes the effort is worth the rewards.

I've never had!!

I would like to think I have tasted everything but i haven't. I've never had:

-white truffles
-fresh porchini mushrooms
-a scotch older than me
-kobe beef

These are just off the top of my head, is there anything that you haven't tasted yet that you want to. I'm sure there are a hundred things i didn't think of.

Soggy cereal!!!

- Wow maybe i'm just nuts but i'm the opposite. If the cereal is not submerged in milk it's not ready.

Soggy cereal!!!

I' m sitting here eating a bowl of cereal, I've let it sit in the milk for at least 10 minutes. Is there anyone else who likes it soggy. If so, share which ones and why? Would love to know i"m not the only one with the soggies. It's how i roll!

I wanna be a jerk

So it's winter and bbq season is over, but i'm craving jerk chicken and am calling all chowhounders to help. I need a good jerk recipe w/o a bbq.

How much of a beer snob have you become?

Wow, if Guinness is not good enough for you then I don't know what to say. There is nothing better than a smooth, creamy guinness.

Do you pronounce the "t" in moet?

I had an argument with my brother and I won't back down until i am proven right. I'm not going to influence the answers by revealing what I think!

Sake: hot or cold?

I'll drink a mediocre scoth with ice, but a great one neat. It's the same with sake. At room temp...

Piri Piri

I've been to Janos, a very decent portugese grill restaurant, but it just so happens that their piri-piri is incredible. If you ask, they will let will let you take some to go. I put this stuff on everything!!
