Dinner Suggestions-July

This is good to hear. A couple of people have recommended Beast but I have read mixed reviews on it. In your opinion not worth switching out any of our 3 choices: Castagna, palsy's Place and Andina for Beast?

Dinner Suggestions-July

Appreciate yours and oregonjim's response. We will be there 7/3-7/5 (and were restricted to what is available on the fourth). We went with:

Paley's Place
Andina
Castagna

Did not see that Castagna was mentioned but came highly recommended from others. Any thoughts on Castagna are appreciated. Thank you!

Dinner Suggestions-July

We are traveling to Portland during July and looking for dinner suggestions. We would be considered foodies-like creative top quality cuisine and don't mind paying higher prices for quality. Open to any area in the city. We need three suggestions. Among our top list from other reviews are: 1) Andina, 2) Veritable Quandary 3) Paleys Place. I would be interested in any comments on the three above or any other "must go" suggestions.

Saratoga Springs Brunch choice-Sperry or Fifty south ?

Our families are foodies, we like fresh, creative food in a nice dining environment preferably near downtown Saratoga. We have narrowed the choice down to these two. I would appreciate comments for those that have been to both.

Palm Springs Weekend

For overall quality and innovative dining:

1) Copley's on Palm Canyon-outstanding creative cuisine. Attracts those who know excellent food.

2) Jillian's - the locals know it well, off of El Paseo. Very consistent, excellent quality.

Christmas Day in Naples

Two ideas:

1) Bites...in the lobby at the Ritz, tapas style , nice selections and a LOT more reasonable than the buffet.

2) M Waterfront Grille, consistent, good but not great .

Choice between Meredays and Osteria Tulia-Naples?

I appreciate your reply. Will look into Escargot 41. We have been to Bha! Bha! and thought it was good , not great. We are going to Lurcat not only for the food (I agree-good not great) but we like the atmosphere, fun/alive. Have been to Bites will look into Veranda E.

Choice between Meredays and Osteria Tulia-Naples?

Thanks for the reply. I am intrigued by Mereday's and how creative the menu is. We have already booked (and like from previous visits) for the other nights we will be in Naples: Bleu Provence, Chops and Cafe Lurcat.

FYI- we are going to be in Naples between Christmas and New Years and Meraday's apparently already has bookings during that time.

Choice between Meredays and Osteria Tulia-Naples?

We are planning a trip to Naples and have one night open and would like to go to one of these two restaurants. I understand they are completely different formats and cuisine but we like both menus and they both have had outstanding reviews. Any thoughts if you have to choose one and why?

Will be staying at Ritz Carlton Buckhead over next weekend. I was looking for suggestions for dinner/lunch relatively close to the hotel. Very open as far as type of cuisine and price. Our family are considered "foodies" , enjoy quality innovative food but again are open to suggestions?

Mani Osteria-Ann Arbor-thoughts?

I have read a few reviews over the last year (mainly positive). I am going to take a group of my daughter's college friends to Mani Osteria? I am interested in anyone's recent reviews. Thanks.

Maguro Sushi & Steak Naples

Lil...Thanks for the reply. I will consider changing our reservation to Barbatella. We are already booked for Alberto's, Chops and Cafe Lurcat. I couldn't agree more on Campiello. We went last year (between Christmas and New Years) and it was a madhouse. Service was poor and the food I thought was just okay. Someone we sat next to (he had been going for years) said on his most recent visits he felt they had slipped.

This sounds interesting. We are planning a trip to Naples next month. We are trying to decide between two restaurants for our Italian choice Alberto's on Fifth Avenue OR Caffe dell' Amore. Have you been to both and what is your preference? We have been to Angelina's in Bonita and like it a lot but want to try something different. Your thoughts?

Italian Selection Naples- Caffe' delli' Amore OR Alberto's?

We are planning a trip to Naples in December. We enjoy excellent italian food. We have gone to Angelina's the last couple of years and enjoyed it but wanted to try something different. Both Caffe' dell' Amore and Alberto's (on Fifth Avenue) have come highly recommended. Which of the two would anyone choose and why?

Babymoon in Naples

Interesting comments above. Although not living in Naples we have been going there for a few years and eat out at a wide variety of restaurants:

1) Sea Salt-felt was WAY overrated and expensive for what it was. The service was also average at best.
2) Lurcat as I mentioned above I feel it the most creative menu we found in Naples and the food exceptional.
3) Bricktop is our feeling a "dressed up" TGI Friday's..nothing more. it is not a chain of two it is a chain in five or six in different cities. Not bad but again nothing exceptional for the prices.

4) Chops we felt was definitely superior and more unique than Capital Grille (again another chain) .

Again, just my opinion.

LilMsFoodie:

You are absolutely right. you did recommend Cafe Lurcat and we think it is outstanding.

Question:

We are traveling to Naples again during Christmas and New Years and was wondering if there are any new , interesting, creative restaurants ? Also what do you think of Sophia's?

Babymoon in Naples

Regarding your list and suggestions:

1) Bites is good, not great. I felt it was pricey for what it is. Atmosphere is okay (basically in lobby of Ritz).
2) Would second the recommendation on Angelina's, it is excellent. Another suggestion for Italian would be Sophia's. We tried Campiello and thought it was okay, service was poor.
3) Two other suggestions we really like:
a) Cafe Lurcat (downtown Naples): VERY creative cuisine, great atmosphere and excellent service. Is probably our favorite restaurant.
b) Chops (on 5th avenue in downtown Naples): If you like steak this is the place to go. Not only excellent steak but great sides and superior service. We also tried Capital Grille (another steakhouse) but MUCH preferred Chops.

Hope this helps.

Help! Foodies in palm springs

Have traveled several years to Palm Springs area. Three suggestions that are our favorites:

1) Jillian's-Palm Desert, it is expensive but great food and atmosphere. The locals who are well aware of it.

2) Copely's-Palm Springs, very creative, excellent service.

3) Shame on the Moon- Rancho Mirage-extremely reasonable for the quality of food, fun environment.

Hope this helps.

TINTO PALM SPRINGS

We are traveling to the Palm Springs area over Memorial Day weekend and have been to the area several times. I have booked Tinto for a first time visit. Was wondering how do you compare Tinto to some of our favorites in then Palm Springs area: Copely's, Jillians', Shame on the Moon, Corktree. Also any other restaurants (preferably in Rancho Mirage, Laquinta, Palm Desert, Indian Wells area) that you would recommend?
