Quiet breakfast spot

I haven't been there since I was a teenager. What kind of breakfast fare do they have?

Peking Duck House, Chinatown

Great minds think alike! As long as the duck in genuinely good and there are a couple of decent side dishes, we're good to go. Thanks again!

That's a big help. Those sound like good recs. We will definitely go for two ducks and keep the extras to a minimum. Thanks for the lowdown!

Peking Duck House, Chinatown

Some friends coming to town for TG weekend would like to eat Peking duck. It seems that despite its shortcomings, PDH is the only game in town at the moment. So here's the question: Can someone suggest the best way to order for eight people. We are all big, enthusiastic, well-traveled eaters of Asian food and would like to keep the Americanized quotient as low as possible. Thanks so much for your suggestions!

soba nippon vs shinbashi for lunch?

I hadn't heard about Katsu-Hama. I'll have to try it one day while I am alone. I don't think Yakitori Totto does lunch. I agree about Sushi Den, but only if you sit at the bar. Thanks so much. I'm going to go with Shinbashi. Will report back. This is completely off-neighborhood, but I ate at Wasan on E 4th Street the other night, got the NY Local menu and thought it was overall excellent - and a great deal.

Quiet restaurant for a friend in need

Thank you. Definitely food for thought (especially the distressing part). Hoping this dinner will be more like a distress antidote. Any additional suggestions as far north as Chelsea or Gramercy Park would also be appreciated. Thanks again.

Quiet restaurant for a friend in need

Thanks! They look great. I am looking for something a bit more casual for this occasion, a place where we can relax . Anything else come to mind?

Quiet restaurant for a friend in need

Taking a close friend in pretty serious distress to dinner and looking for a quiet (but not romantic) place with VG food, any type, preferably below 14th St. Dinner w/wine for $100 per person or less would be ideal. Reservations a must. Thanks so much.

Trader Joe's turkey anyone?

I hate to seem super slow, but if you buy a TJ brined turkey and your recipe calls for you to brine your turkey, do you just skip that step? My first Thanksgiving dinner... Thanks!

birthday dinner for 4/under$300

we are taking a friend and husband out to dinner for her birthday in 10 days or so. i'm looking for something along the lines of red cat or five points quality-wise -- really enjoyable without being awesome nouvel continental or american (no ethnic). ideally, the four of us would be able to have at least two course each and two bottles of wine for about $300. any suggestions would be really appreciated. thanks
