Kane Sushi, Lafayette (review)

Kane Sushi serves a very poor version of Japanese food. Over priced, heavy handed flavorings, and artless service. I visited with a friend from Japan. She was shocked by the strong garlic flavor in what should have been a common (garlicless) spinach appetizer. I mentioned the surprising flavoring to the waiter who took the dish away and had the cook come out and (with a Chinese accent) ARGUE with us that the food was fine! Then they refused to take the item off our bill. The sushi's rice flavoring was similarly exaggerated (too much vinegar), overpowering the sashimi. If you can't find Japanese in Lafayette then just drive an additional 15 minutes to the better choices in Oakland, Berkeley, or Alameda. Or try Trader Joe's.
