Best Shrimp and Grits in the FQ? Has anyone tried the Shrimp & Grits at Le Meritage? ----- |
We've narrowed our choices to two. Restaurant August & Le Meritage. Thanks to everyone for their replies. |
I'd like to hear more also. |
Thanks for the quick replies. We have already printed out a menu from August......realize this won't be what will be served in May but just to give us an idea. I've read reviews for Le Foret but have not for Le Meritage. Will look for some. We might have to try more than one tasting since we will be there for 3 nites. Thanks again. Just looked at Le Meritage sample menu. It's on my list now. Thanks edible. |

We're coming back for more good food & need suggestions for a restaurant with tasting menus. We've already tried Stella! & would like to try some others. We'll be staying in the Quarter so somewhere nearby would be good. Thanks in advance. k |

I'm Back! My Nova Scotia Recommendations We're going in September too and I've already printed out your list. Thank you so much. |

Nova Scotia dining thus far... We'll be heading to NS in a couple of weeks. Your posts have been so helpful. Thank you. |

Need Suggestions for NS Dining. Great review. It's a big help for us as we making the drive around NS in September. With 2 nites in Cheticamp, I'm really looking forward the the Hometown Kitchen. Also, I had taken Hall's Harbour Lobster Pound off my list as I couldn't find any reviews of it. Now it's back on the list. We had planned to eat at the Fundy Restaurant in Digby as we've been watching the harbour from their webcam. Maybe now just a snack instead of a full meal. Will watch for the Clucking Hen on the Cabot Trail. |

Suggestions for chowder and fresh seafood on the sunrise and cabot trails NS Thanks so much for all your suggestions. We're headed in that direction in a few weeks. Did you try any of the restaurants in the Cheticamp area? Thanks again. |

Anniversary dinner at Latil's Landing at Houmas House Plantation-reviews needed This past December we were there for a wedding & dinner. Although the food was served buffet style, it was wonderful. We are still talking about the food & the setting. |
My vote would be for Stella! |

"Stories" Any one been lately? Thank you Winewolf. We really enjoy tasting menus so I will keep it on our list. Since it is a small dining room, I will be making reservations also. Thanks again. |

"Stories" Any one been lately? The reviews I had read on "Stories" have been mixed. We will be in Halifax for three nites and I have them on my list of places to eat. Should I switch to somewhere else? k |

Foodies going to Houma/Thibodaux 1921 Seafood. Have had some great crabs, crawfish & shrimp there. |
I've got Morris East on my list too. Yes, we will be going to Lunenburg. I've looked up Fleur de Sel and it sounds great. Thanks for the tip. |
Thank you Bob Mac. Both restaurants you mentioned were on our list too but had hesitated after reading the other reply. Unfortunately, our list is getting longer than nites we will be there. |
Great news. Plus Chives was on my list. Thanks for your reply. |

We're in the middle of planning our trip to Nova Scotia which will include 3 nites in Halifax. As we will be traveling over a two week period, we are trying to pack as light as possible. Where can we have a wonderful evening meal without bringing dressy clothes with us. My husband will have his dockers & nice shirt but nothing dressier. Thanks for your help. |

I think sending the local ones directly by two day mail would have the same result as Gambino's even with the additional delivery day. My cousin has sent both the filled & unfilled to me each year. Mine always arrive in good shape even tho I can tell FedEx has thrown the box around. The one that arrives at work ends up sitting out and no one has gotten sick yet. :) I say give it a try. |

Yes, I did ask and was told all they were serving was turkey & dressing as they did not buy the supplies to prepare anything else. We did enjoy trying their brisket that we had heard so much about. The turkey & dressing were good, but not what we were hoping for. I should have called to confirm the menu but got lazy. |

We were only there for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. Lunch Chrismas Eve we ate at Acme. Had the Char-grilled oysters. First time to try oysters and they were great. Stella!, of course. Christmas Day we took two tours & squeezed in Tujaques between the tours. Very disappointed. I knew it wasn't going to be "fine dining" & reviews were mixed. I was hoping they would have their regular menu but not so. We weren't prepared for turkey & dressing. It was good but not what we were expecting. I was hoping to try their "garlic chicken". Cafe du Monde Friday morning and then we hit the road. |

It was crab instead of shrimp. After five days of seafood, I had a senior moment. We thought the squash soup was wonderful too. |
We had the tasing menu and shared the wine tasting. We thought it was great overall. I'm not a fan of avacado, so the shrimp/avacado salad was my only complaint. The "fish & chips" was one of our favorites of the tasting. First time we have tried a wine tasting and I think it really added to the dinner. Each course was well paired with the wine either improving some dishes or improving the taste of the wine. |

We ran into Chef Boswell outside of Stanley's as he rode up on his segway. After chatting about our dinner at Stella! on Christmas Eve, he said he had to go in and check on his new..........I inserted "baby" and he said "monster". We had to leave town just after we saw him or we would have tried it for lunch. k |

Luke for Christmas Day? Also, CE decision. sibeats & rmw555, we're eating at Stella on Christmas Eve too. |

Thanks Shiloh. I'll have to do a search and see where that is. If we can't make it there, who in the Quarter has the best fried catfish? k |

Does anyone serve thin sliced fried catfish in the French Quarter? If so, who has the best? Thanks. k |
