Recommendations in Beirut?
I was curious if anyone had any recent thoughts on this Beirut food query. I'll be there visiting/sightseeing in early December and would love one or two good places to hit. I've lived in Manhattan for ten years and come from an Arab heritage.
Top 5 Most Underrated Restaurants in NYC
I agree with iFat. Porchetta is a nice concept but for better or worse its reputation has far outpaced its offering. It's still a great spot to grab a quick bite but underrated it's not.

I agree with Tailor. In fact, it's SO underrated that it had to close : - (
Best donut in Manhattan?
I second (third, fourth, fifth) props for Donut Plant. Their chocolate covered banana cake donut is heavenly. They've recently been carrying a fresh peach cake donut which is quite tasty as well.
Good Mexican downtown that takes reservations?
Itzocan IS tasty but tiny (I live on this block), and Barrio Chino is reservation-less, raucous and requires a long wait. Mercadito and La Palapa are decent options for what you're looking for. You could always do the overpriced "faux sceny" Dos Caminos on Houston and West Broadway. I personally love the food and enormous margaritas at Los Dos Molinos but it can get painfully loud there on any given evening.
Nice-ish lunch Monday in East Village?
Lil' Frankies on 1st ave btw 1st/2nd st - Italian
Lucien on 1st ave btw 1st/2nd st - French Bistro
Prune on 1st st btw 1st/2nd ave - New American
I think all those should be open for lunch on Monday but you should call to check just in case.
How's the food at MOMA?
I think THE MODERN is one of the best places in that immediate vicinity for what you're looking for. The only other place that comes to mind is a wine/small plates establishments a few avenues west from there called Casellula.

A New Yorker looking for places to dine alone in Montreal
I'm gonna try for both Au Pied de Cochon and Joe Beef during my stay. Thanks so much!

Thanks much. I tried searching through old threads but wasn't able to dig up the info you provided.
Rate my NYC Dining Weekend
That's a pretty packed itinerary, have you hired a driver for the weekend? I hope your Breakfast at Clinton Street Bakery is on a weekday because the line for a table can often be more than an hour. Other thoughts...
1. Shake Shake is waaaay overrated but nice if the weather is pleasant.
2. Substitute Di Fara's with Lucali's in Carroll Gardens
3. 'Ino is great, especially considering the value.

Which place for dinner
Centro Vinoteca is nice but not comparable to other places on your list. I'd go there for a pre or post dinner drink. Kittichai is overpriced and a bit "worn out." The only reason I'd go there is if you could get a good sitting reservation for the separate, sceny upstairs hotel lounge (If you're into that sort of thing). I'd lean towards Degustation, a really nice, intimate but not overly formal dining experience in a lively part of town.
A New Yorker looking for places to dine alone in Montreal
After reading a fair bit posts/reviews of Montreal dining on this site and others I wondered if you could help me in layering an additional filter: great solo dining at the bar. A four day trip I was originally planning to take with my now x-girlfriend has become a one-man sojourn.
FYI I'm a 30 year old male and 8 year New York City 4-borough restaurant veteran...
Thanks!
