Help, need straightforward special-occasion dining for this Friday! Meat for him, seafood for me

Frascati would be perfect. Romantic, intimate; the menu would fit your tastes. Acquerello is also a great special-occasion spot. Best meal I've had in some time.

Lunchtime Japanese in SF

+1 Takara.

Looking for an awesome porkchop

Best chop I ever had was at Boulevard.

Need place to eat & watch NBA Finals

Gordon Biersch, a brewpub along the Embarcadero, is close to you and should have the game on. A lively scene. Also, the Double Play, at 16th and Bryant, has an old-time San Francisco sports theme. The Balboa in the Marina has a few TVs, probably the best food of the three, but it might be more difficult to watch here.

Mark Bittman's review of Tartine

Agreed.

List of good creme brulee places in the city

Best I ever had was at Zuni.

tiny gem of a resturaunt in SF?

Range or Canteen I'd say.

Recent feedback on Chez Spencer?

Went about 10 days ago. Don't be put off by the entrance, as it's a sophisticated experience inside. On the pricey side. A real French restaurant without the stuffiness; since many of the new openings in S.F. tend to be bistros, this is welcome. Wine list covers the waterfront. Didn't encounter a clinker on the menu. Go.

San Francisco dinning with children

Quite a few kids at Delfina last night, from infants to teenagers. Since it's a loud place, you didn't really notice the squawks from the little ones. Great food, too.

Boulevard Restaurant

Had the best pork chop I've ever eaten there, but agree about the poor service; it made us resentful about paying the hefty bill.
