Cafe Metro (Denville) has a new chef

Cafe Metro is one of my go to places! Look forward to getting back there to see what changes they might have made.

Need suggestions for catering an office lunch in Rockaway, NJ

That's the place. The owner, Tom, has worked hard to make it a great neighborhood place. My son swears by the steak sandwiches But I've never had one. His bacon is the best...always crisp on any sandwich

He only has two types of Empanadas...beef or chicken. We definitely favor the beef ones.

Both places already mentioned are great, you won't be disappointed, and a third favorite of mine is 53 Grill on Rt. 53 in Denville. His sandwich platters are great, his sloppy joes- delicious, and his Empanadas the best. I don't know if he delivers though.

Roadside Stand on Rt 15

It's part of Anderson Farms and, yes, they've fixed it up nicely. Got a Summer Smash Berry, Blueberry Crumb, Strawberry Rhubarb and Peach Raspberry pie...all were delicious, as were the fruit and tomatoes I picked up.

rehersal dinner suggestions

How many people? Il Villagio in Morris Plains/Parsippany is great - we've been there for both parties and just privately for ourself. Heritage Grill in Denville has a room upstairs but its not huge.

Roadside Stand on Rt 15

Does anyone know if the roadside stand that sold homemade pies is still there. It was well before rt 94, almost right at the point where Rt 15 went from being a freeway to a two lane roadway? I don't remember the name of the farm, but they always sold fresh berry pies. I haven't been that way this summer at all, and have some guests coming tomorrow, and was hoping someone could confirm they're still there before I take to 40 minute ride to buy some pies.

Flood damage--let's report in

The Second Half, in Denville, opened yesterday! Doc's in Denville has reopened.
Denville Dairy is hoping to open later this month. Amore Pizza is moving to Main Street (Rt 53). No word yet on Sergio's.

Pancakes-Best in NJ?

I like Toast as well. The Nutella french toast is a fav of my daughter's.
I'd like to put the word out that Doc's in Denville has reopened after being severly damaged by Irene. For the time being, its cash only...but if you want to help an independent, that has some of the freshest most delicious bread, pancakes and french toast, its worth the ride.

Real New Jersey experience

Yes! As Meg said above...they aren't ready until mid-July. The first ones are the best, but the rest are still amazing. A combo of Jersey soil and weather gives them a taste that I don't think you get anywhere else. Stock up on bread and mayo.

Real New Jersey experience

Fortunately for me, my dad's backyard. A farm stand will suffice if you don't have any friends or neighbors with an over abundance that they're wiling to share. Speaking of farm stands, anyone up in the area of Route 15, know if the stand right where the road comes down to two lanes is open ye...it must bet.....Summer Berry smash pies....a pie made from a mixture of berries...hmmm, thats a taste of summer right there.

Oh....heaven is a Jersey tomato on soft white with Hellman's sandwich. Pity the rest of the country who will never taste a true Jersey tomato.

LOL...definitely a regional thing, which my daughter and her college friends love to argue about. I think one of them even research the name calling difference and it had to do with a mistake in packaging at one point. Chalk it up there with those that go to the beach or down the shore :)

I agree with Mr. Bingley, but have it with Taylor Ham ;p
Also, NJ pizza....better than anywhere else.

Pancakes-Best in NJ?

Definitely Doc's in Denville. Melt in your mouth pancakes...usually a daily special too. Homemade bread for their French toast too.

White Rose System - Highland Park

LOL...my husband discovered White Rose System in 1982 when he was a student at Rutgers. It was his go to place after a late night of studying. The best part of his 1.25 hour commute now is that it takes him past the White Rose System again. He stops in at least once a month.

New Jersey's best burgers: Where Are They Now?

I'll second both of these places. The Alexis Diner burger is great...sometimes I order it just for the onion rings. Arthurs is our first choice when we want a good satisfying burger.

In Search of Classic Onion Soup

The best french onion soup is at Arthur's Tavern in Morris Plains. A delicious soup to savor once you get through all the cheese melted on top.

Seeking Morristown Recommendations for dinner

Since you have a car, you can take Rt 202 north into Morris Plains and go to Arthurs for an awesome burger, or right next door to Arthurs, Monday is Lobster Night at Collins for $11.95.

Best Hibachi around Morris County

It's now called Soho and while I haven't been there, I heard that they've renovated and updated the interior and it's received good reviews. Its on Rt.46, westbound side in Denville.

Sunday breakfast for group of 12 near 287 corridor-inexpensive

If you get off on Rt 10 in Whippany, there is the Brookside Diner, or The Original Pancake House (a little more expensive, but huge portions, you'll have a breakfast doggie bag). I haven't been to Willie's Tavern in Bernardsville in years but they used to have a nice breakfast.

Best Cheap Chinese Take Out in Morris County

I'll be interested in this as well. My fav is China One in Denville, but there is a noticable decline in the amount of shrimp in by shrimp and broccoli. I guess that's the way the keep afloat without raising their prices. Its still delicious though. I tried other places, and always go back to here.

Any NON-DINER Breakfasts in N. New Jersey?

Oh, I have a treat for you. Anthem, a new restaurant on Rt. 53 in Denville - the owners have relocated from California and are offering new healthy options (http://www.anthemsandwich.com). Their breakfast sandwich is made with i soft scrambled egg, taylor ham, gruyere, arugula, tomato confit for example. They have a facebook page where they post their daily specials which depend on what they picked up at the farmers market.

Also, around the corner, I believe its on 1st Street in Denville is Doc's, down a couple stores from the Hardware store. All their bread is freshly made each morning, so breakfasts are by far some of the best.

BYOB's in Madison

I went to Amici's on Park/Main Street for the first time last week and loved it. Small and casual. BYOB. I had a pasta and shrimp dish that is now one of my all time favorites. They had several seafood specials that all looked delicious as well. (This place was across the street from Brocolini)

Can anyone please recommend a place for a post rehearsal dinner in the Whippany, NJ area (preferably Italian)

I'm going to second (or third) Il Villagio's in Powder Mill...it is BYOB and I've been to parties there and just dinner for 2 and its always delicious and reasonable. Il Giardino's was less than stellar the last two times I was there.
