Your 2010 "Must Try" List

Best cheesecake I've ever had. I've never used the term bananaballs but it does seem appropriate in this case.

Coop's

Went to Coops when we landed last Friday bc it was one of the few places serving food at midnight. The food was very good and worth going to. The bar tenders were more aloof than rude but not enough to bother us. It was a decent way to start off our weekend.

Best Restaurant Tasting Menus??

Just cam back from New Orleans. We had the 7 Course Degustation at August. It was $85/person without wine pairings and worth every penny. We ate for nearly 3 hours and every dish was amazing. Highlights were a sear scallop studded with bacon over lentils, a petite filet with a sauce made from reduced oxtail and red wine, and pork belly with black eyed peas with a broth that almost made me slurp from my bowl. It may have been the best meal I've ever had.

4 Nights in the City - Budget itinerary almost there!

I'm a huge fan of Dinosaur BBQ but I've recently discovered Fette Sau and I'm in love. Check it out if you don't mind going to Williamsburg. As for diners, I'm convinced there the one's in the city aren't worth going to and I dont think any of them are cheap. Enjoy your meal elsewhere, unless you're willing to travel to Jersey.

Which of Bobby Flay's Manhattan Restaurants is better? Mesa or Bar Americain?

I enjoyed both but definitely think Mesa Grill is much better and more interesting.

Late Friday dinner?

We're flying in this Friday and landing around 1030pm. I had originally planned on going to Acme Oyster House for a late dinner but found out they're only open til 11. Any good recommendations for a late dinner? We're staying at the W in the quarter.

Need brunch and lunch recs...no tourist traps!

I need brunch and/or lunch recommendations for a Saturday and Sunday. We are staying in the W in the French Quarter. We don't want touristy type places and don't want to spend $100 on lunch. Ideas?

perry street?

Went to perry street last weekend. It was excellent. We had the glazed short ribs and butter poached lobster for entrees and the tuna (highly recommended) and black pepper crab dumplings. The chocolate pudding was phenomenal!

Shameful questions about two, um, less-than-five-star eating establishments

Shake Shack is pretty darn good. Venture up to the one on 77th and Columbus. I've never waited more than 10 minutes.

Got time for 1 amazing dinner

Going to New Orleans for my 30th birthday and only have time for one high end dinner. Right now I'm leaning towards August. Is it the best New Orleans has to offer?

New Hope Dining...need help

Planning one night at a bed and breakfast in New Hope. I need a romantic dinner spot for Saturday night and maybe a lunch spot for Sunday. Suggestions?

Need fresh Mexican Chorizo

Just returned from Zihuatanejo, Mexico and we had the best chorizo tacos I've ever had. It made me realize that most of the chorizo I've been buying/cooking/ordering here stinks. Where can I find the real stuff? I live near Spanish Harlem so I know it must be close (and I read some things about Casablanca Butcher Shop which I will have to try). Any other ideas?

Anyone got a really good recipe so I can make it myself??

Brunch near 39th and Park?

If you want Turkish, try Ali Baba on 34th and 3rd. Josie's has a great healthier American brunch. They're on 3rd also around 37th, I think.

Let's talk Indian

My fiance and I are crazy about our Indian food. Looking for places we haven't been to yet. Our favorite by far (and maybe our favorite restaurant in NYC) is Bombay Talkie in Chelsea. We also like Tamarind (the one on 94th and 3rd) and Spice Cove on East 6th. Other suggestions??

Looking for "hole in the wall" places

Good point. I am referring to places that are little known but have a cult following. For example, Spice Cove on East 6th, Yuka on 81st and Second, Taco Taco, are some of my favs.

Looking for "hole in the wall" places

Looking to build my arsenal of great but little known places. Great food is number 1 priority. Atmosphere, service, decor, etc are all negligible. All cuisines welcome, any neighborhood.

Pizza in Manhattan

In my opinion, Grimaldi's is the best but its just over the Brooklyn Bridge. Take the subway to the bridge, walk over, have Grimaldi's and Brooklyn Ice Cream Company. Makes for a great night.

Affordable, quality sushi

Try Yuka on 81st and 2nd. Its a dingy little place that does all you can eat for $21. Don't be scared by the all you can eat. They go through so much fish that it is the some of the freshest sushi I've had. If you're looking for great fish with no frills, thats your place.
