Sally's Apizza is obviously better than Pepe's and Modern
Observor, would you agree that the Ford F-150 is obviously a better vehicle than a Mercedes S-Class because the F-150 has a stronger and more robust chassis? It’s the chassis, after-all, that’s the basis of a vehicle. (tongue in cheek). If anything's obvious, it’s that there is no “better" in the world of food unless everyone taking part in the discussion agrees. I think all the aformentioned pizza places are excellent and I like them all much more than anything we have in Vermont. Pepe's white clam is to die for.
Fisherman's Catch in Wells?
My wife & I went there last September and we loved it. I started with a cup of fish chowder; which I must say was the best fish chowder I've had. Chock full of fish in a just-right creamy base. After that I had the whole belly fried clams that were delicious - not greasy, nice flavor, no sand. My wife had a fried haddock sandwich which she said was excellent. It looked very good from my side of the table - a very large and thick piece of haddock dominated the bread. After we got back to Vermont I raved about it to a friend who was going to Maine with his girl friend; a few days later he called me from the restaurant to thank me for the recommendation – they loved it too. I can't wait to get back there next month.

Breakfast in Burlington
Libby's Blue Line diner puts oil on the toast rather than butter (why???). Order their "home fries" and you'll get greasy deep-fried chunks of potatos rather than traditional griddle-cooked home fries with minced onion and seasoning. Why people like oiled toast and fake home fries is beyond me.
Vermont - Montpelier?
If you like Thai food, I'd say try the Royal Orchid. Great Thai food.
Should a diner be entitled to tour the kitchen?
As much as I'd love to do a quick tour of any kitchen, I know I don't belong there and won't ask. For those that haven't read Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential, I highly recommend the book - it's a fun read and introduces the reader to what really happens in the kitchen, and after reading it I promise you'll agree spectators don't belong back there.
