5 Guys Burger in Woodhaven

Is there another 5 Guys in the Woodhaven area other than the one near Trader Joes/Home Depot?

It's not pricey at all for the quality. Much better than any fast food joints. Fries are excellent...I've never had a bad batch. Choice of toppings is nice as well...

ISO Taylor Ham (pork roll)

I've seen it in Stop N' Shop in the grocery cases with liverwurst and packaged stuff like that.

Rockaways or Howard Beach

La Villa is perfectly fine. I really enjoy Matteo's on Crossbay Blvd. They serve family style so you can order alot and share.

Joe's Best Burger, Flushing

Shake Shack in INSIDE Citifield. You need to buy a ticket to a Met game to partake in this burger.

Gino's vs. New Park Pizza

Gino's...hands down. Lovely slices with perfect amount of cheese and sauce. Not burnt. (See NP below). A very pretty restaurant. It serves pasta, heros and calzones.

New Park is soooo overated. The pizza is ok...if you like burnt and overcharred crust. The seating is limited...wooden picnic tables in the enclosed porch in the front. Ugly room in the back. Nothing but pizaa (IIRC)

Anything other than Italian,in Howard Beach?

There has not been a steak house on that corner for 10 years. It is the excellent Matteo's (another Italian joint)

Gloria pizza heads that think Amore pizza are the same owners?

LaVera is disgusting? Hardly. What would you consider good pizza?

Amore's and LaVera are VERY similar in taste. The atmosphere in Amore's is like an OTB...depressing and ugly. LaVera is very pleasant. (plus I can get my car washed at Five Corners across the street...best car wash on the Island)

I consider most Manhattan pizza to be disgusting...gross slices that sit like congealed pieces of drek, waiting to be warmed up after sitting for an hour.

Gloria's Pizza

Sweet red sauce is un-Italian? Who are you...the sauce police??

I despise smoky, meaty red sauce marina. My Italian brother-in-law makes awesome SWEET red sauce.

I grew up in Howard Beach so I know from what I speak Cheese Boy!!

Zum Stammtisch (Queens) vs 'Allo Berlin (Manhattan)?

I find Chalet Alpina on Metropolitam Ave, in Forest Hills is better than Zum. Better service, less zany atmosphere and better quality food. The goulash soup is fantastic.

Lobster Rolls ?

I go to Cape Elizabeth (outside South Portland) every year. I'll definitely check out the rolls at McDs.

Take-out in Forest Hills

Dani's and Mehak are absolutely in Kew Gardens. I like Dani's alot. Some of the best eggplant parmagiana you'll find in the city. (well at least in a pizzeria)

Good Italian Restaurant in Forest Hills, Queens?

Spolini's in Kew Gardens on Metropolitan Ave. is good family-style. They have valet parking as well.

FH Trader Joe's---Oct. 26th Opening Day !!!

Stopped by Saturday night after having a grand Octoberfest meal at Chalet Alpina on Metropolitan Ave. The sign in the vestibule said they are opening October 26th.

Hallelejuah and pass the chili-lime pistachios!!

worst birthday ever at Saul on Smith Street

Hurray for Chance. Glad it worked out in the end.

Fabulous baked goods and cupcakes

Google it

Trader Joe's - Rego Park - Update

Ken--just curious as to why you drive to the Scarsale TJ instead of the Plainview one? I'm in Forest Hills and I do Fairway and TJ in one swoop. (Fairway is also in Plainview on Manetto Hill Road).

It takes about 25 mins to TJ in Plainview

Trader Joe's Queens update

The TJ's on Long Island do not carry 2 buck Chuck. You need a separate license and door entrance to sell liquor in NY State.

Woodhaven Blvd Pizza Option-Barosa

Not really walkable. Take the Q11 bus down Woodhaven. It stops right down the block.

Brunch - Queens or Nassau

The Garden City Hotel is quite lovely..and expensive. ($60) Shrimp, lobster, crab legs, omlettes, waffles, carving stations, hot dishes, cold salads and meats, frappes, cakes, parfaits, fruits..etc...etc. You also get unlimited mimosas and bloody marys.

Elegant atmosphere....you won't be disappointed. You need reservations

The Shops at Atlas Park - need some info

I really enjoy Atlas Park. I have been going since it opened last year. The bar/cafe in the middle has a nice menu with lovely salads and sandwiches. Johnny Rockets is never crowed. Shiro of Japan is fun and yummy.

I can enjoy a movie without hoods from Jamaica bringing their screaming kids to a 9pm movie. (The Midway...ugh!). It's clean, safe, uncrowded and has a Starbucks...as close to heaven as you can get. (and certainly worth $3 to park)

Best Burger in Queens ???

Cobblestones Pub in Forest Hills...Queens Blvd between 78/77th Ave.
MUCH better than the highly overated Donovans (which is a dirty and dark place) $8.95 for platter with fries and TWO TOPPINGS.

Decent Bagel in Forest Hills?

Knish Nosh (southside of QB near 67rdt) is now serving Jewish-style food. I picked up some motzah ball soup and a chicken croquette that was quite good.

Please help me introduce my girlfriend to NYC style Chinese food!

Exit the train at the very last car, follow signs to the North side of Queens Blvd and the Q46 is right there at the top of the stairs I.
It runs 24/7.

Kew Gardens...HELP!!!

You're only a few blocks from Simply Thai (or whatever it's called now) and Cobblestones...both on the southside of QB adn 78th ave. Great burgers at Cobblestones and decent Thai.

Jade Eatery and Lounge - Forest Hills

Now that the weather is colder....I hit Chalet Alpina on Metropolitan. It's a German place that is having it's annual Oktoberfest dinner specials. Three courses for $17-23. They have a lovely selection of beers on tap as well.

Good burger in/around Forest Hills?

The best burger in Queens/Forest Hills (even better than the overrated Donovans)can be found at Cobblestones on Queens Blvd. between 77th and 78th Ave. (South Side). It happens to be across the street from my house too :)

It is a steal at $8.95. You get TWO TOPPINGS (cheese, bacon, chili, veggies, ets.) and fries, plus lettuce, tomato and onion. I usually get cheddar and chili...mmmm.

Forest Hills Labor Day Weekend Street Fair

Haven't gone in years as it is always a bust. Bad jewelry, annoyingly loud DJ from a bad rap station, crappy t-shirts...you know the drill. The antique cars are a nice touch though. (Great Neck does a cool antique car/street fair in October)

Best pizza in Forest Hills?

As a long-time FH resident I bemoan the death of a decent slice as well. I trek to Umberto's in New Hyde Park for my slice. Only 15-20 mins away from heaven...

Portland -- Real road food / lobster shack

Are you thinking of The Good Table?

In search of the ULTIMATE Lobsta Roll (non-Boston area)

Woo-hoo! I love that place. I have gone there the past few years when visiting friends in Cape Elizabeth. I am on the hunt for something similar in NYC/LI.
