Lunch with kids near Public Garden/swan boats

Thanks for all of the suggestions! We found a meter and successfully rode the boats and the carousel, took pictures with frog and duck statues and bought some balloon creatures. We didn't have time for the playground but picked up some slices at Sal's pizza and had them under a big shady tree which was perfect for all of the kiddos.

We were thinking we could either grab something to go somewhere and eat it in the park or grab something and take it elsewhere to eat if we are at a meter. We didn't want to lug around a cooler all morning.

Oh... and I see that there is a "Frog Pond Cafe" but we were hoping to find something a small step up from that.

Lunch with kids near Public Garden/swan boats

A friend is coming into the city tomorrow and we are planning to take the kids down to the public garden to walk around. We are hoping to play on the playground, ride the carousel, and take a trip on the swan boats. Is there a kid friendly place to grab lunch very close by? We are hoping to park at a meter so we will (most likely) only have two hours to fit everything in. There will be four children under the age of 8!

Ice cream with a peanut allergy?

I think it was called Ariel's ice cream and smoothies. It is in the Marina Marketplace and it is new this year. Cream and Sugar is the place on the boardwalk but this one is actually in the market closer to the parking lot.

Ice cream with a peanut allergy?

Went to Marina Bay today and stumbled upon a peanut free ice cream place! There is a homemade ice cream spot set up in the marketplace right in the marina. The woman there said that they have no peanuts in anything because of allergies and that everything is peanut safe.

Ice cream with a peanut allergy?

My daughter has a peanut allergy and we have stayed away from ice cream places for fear of cross contamination. Now that summer is coming again, I would love to find a place where I could bring her. Are there any places known to be sensitive to peanut allergies or peanut free?

baby free for a weekend. Where to eat?

Whoops! Fort Lauderdale at the Hilton on the beach. Anywhere good around here? How about lunch places we could walk to from the beach?

baby free for a weekend. Where to eat?

My husband and I are getting away for a much needed long weekend from Boston without our 1 year old. We are staying at the Hilton on the waterfront and will have a car. We are looking for casual, beach places to eat breakfast and lunch and some nicer options for dinner. What is right on the beach? What serves great food? We are open to different types of cuisine and would love some suggestions. We don't get out alone very much and are really looking forward to this trip!

Best in Watertown?

Thanks for the suggestions! We have tried and liked Stellina, Strip T's, Uncommon Grounds and Shiraz. We loved Gustazo and get take out from Fordee's frequently. We did not care for Molana. I need to check out some of the others listed below, especially the specialty markets like Lamejun and Sophias. I've wondered about Grappa...

Best in Watertown?

We recently moved out into the burbs of Watertown and are looking for good spots for breakfast, take out, dinner, etc. We have tried many of the main stream places but are looking for places we might have missed. We love ethnic food and have explored some of the middle eastern places in the area. Anything in Belmont or Waltham worth trying too? Thanks!

gift certificate idea - Astoria?

My sister and her husband live in Astoria, NY and I live in Boston. I am looking to get them a gift certificate for Christmas. Any good restaurants in the area that someone could recommend?

what to do with a rump roast!?

So it was a success! I salted and peppered and dipped it into some flour before I browned each side. I then sauteed some onions and garlic and put everything into a roasting pan with some chicken broth, some potatoes, and some carrots. It was pretty good (so he says!) and he sliced it really thinly to make sandwiches with today too. Thanks for all the help!

what to do with a rump roast!?

Ha ha I did suggest that! He doesn't know what to do with it either though. We don't have a slow cooker. Do we need one?

what to do with a rump roast!?

So.... I am a vegetarian and my boyfriend just came home from the grocery store with a 2.5 pound rump roast. What on earth do we do with it? I don't eat it so I am a little bit uninspired about this one!

Dinner near Symphony Hall

I am headed to the Pops concert Saturday night and trying to come up with somewhere nearby to grab dinner after the show. It probably won't be until 9:30 or 10:00... and suggestions?

ideas for puff pastry shells or fillo cups?

Thanks so much for all of the suggestion! I ended up making two appetizers with puff pastry. I made a sort of free form tart and used tomatoes, olive tapenade, and fresh mozzarella on one and pepperoni, pesto and peppers on the other. As far as the phyllo cups, I made up a pastry cream filling and put a fresh raspberry or blueberry on the top of each one. They came out great!

Wine dinners with vegetarian options??

Great to know. Have you been to either place for one of those dinners? I have never been to either one so want to know if it is worth it.

Wine dinners with vegetarian options??

I am looking for something fun and wine/food related to do with a friend but am unsure how flexible any of them are. I am pretty much a vegetarian and don't want to pay for an entire meal that I am not going to eat. I know that places like Sel de la Terre, Beacon Hill Bistro, and l'espalier all have wine dinners one night of the week. Can anyone let me know anything about those? Where else should I look for options?
Thanks!

girls' birthday dinner - good food - good atmosphere

I always like to plan a girls' night out for my birthday and am looking for suggestions for this year. The requirements are: good food (but not too fancy or expensive) and some sort of atmosphere. The past few years we have done Dali, Panza, Eastern Standard, etc. I would appreciate any suggestions. There will be about ten of us. I enjoy Scampo but just went there this past weekend for another event.

Lunch near Prudential Duck tour?

I am going on a Duck Tour tomorrow with my grandparents and am looking for a place to go for lunch after we are finished. We will be right at the Prudential Center where the boats let off. My grandmother is not able to walk very far so we need something close by. Anything besides the CPK and Legal in the mall?

Lay it on me, hounds--best dining on Outer Cape

I have never been for dinner but we really enjoy Sol for breakfast. They have great muffins and pastries as well as quiche, eggs, granola, etc.

dinner options walking distance to Millenium Park?

So it is raining this afternoon but I still really want to check out the artwork in Millenium park. What options are there for dinner right around that area? We were going to venture a little more around the city but, assuming the weather is still lousy, may want to stay closer to the park. We are open to all sorts of cuisines but would like something nicer than pizza or basic bar food and do not want a chain. Thanks!

Coming from Boston tomorrow - where do I go?!

OK. Here is some more information!

We are staying at the Hilton Suites Magnificent Mile. During the day, I will be solo since the man will be working. I am not sure how far I am from museums and attractions but I would like to possibly head to the Field Museum and the Art Museum. Are there any very casual cafe type places near either of those?

In the afternoon, we will probably take in a boat tour to see the architecture and are going to try to head to a Cubs game.

Since we will only have three nights there we are thinking one nicer dinner, one deep dish pizza, and the third is open. We like good food, but nothing fancy. We are open to all sorts of ethnic options or American contemporary and are really just interested in exploring what Chicago has to offer. We have a lot of options here in Boston so I am not interested in any one type of cuisine - just what is good!

Thanks!

Coming from Boston tomorrow - where do I go?!

I am coming to Chicago tomorrow for the first time and staying for three nights on the Magnificent mile. Where should we go for dinner? We are in our early 30's, not super fancy, but into good food and atmosphere. We also could use some suggestions for lunch while we are out and about sight seeing. Any must see sights? Where do we go for deep dish pizza? Thanks!

Outdoor lunch today in South End?

I am looking for a spot to take my parents for lunch today in the South End. We want to sit outside and would prefer a lunch menu over a brunch one. Thoughts?

I am heading down to MV for two weeks and would like to know what is new. Have any restaurants closed since last summer? Have any new ones opened? Any must tries?
