what to do with a rump roast!?
So it was a success! I salted and peppered and dipped it into some flour before I browned each side. I then sauteed some onions and garlic and put everything into a roasting pan with some chicken broth, some potatoes, and some carrots. It was pretty good (so he says!) and he sliced it really thinly to make sandwiches with today too. Thanks for all the help!
what to do with a rump roast!?
Ha ha I did suggest that! He doesn't know what to do with it either though. We don't have a slow cooker. Do we need one?
what to do with a rump roast!?
So.... I am a vegetarian and my boyfriend just came home from the grocery store with a 2.5 pound rump roast. What on earth do we do with it? I don't eat it so I am a little bit uninspired about this one!
Dinner near Symphony Hall
I am headed to the Pops concert Saturday night and trying to come up with somewhere nearby to grab dinner after the show. It probably won't be until 9:30 or 10:00... and suggestions?
ideas for puff pastry shells or fillo cups?
Thanks so much for all of the suggestion! I ended up making two appetizers with puff pastry. I made a sort of free form tart and used tomatoes, olive tapenade, and fresh mozzarella on one and pepperoni, pesto and peppers on the other. As far as the phyllo cups, I made up a pastry cream filling and put a fresh raspberry or blueberry on the top of each one. They came out great!
Wine dinners with vegetarian options??
Great to know. Have you been to either place for one of those dinners? I have never been to either one so want to know if it is worth it.
Wine dinners with vegetarian options??
I am looking for something fun and wine/food related to do with a friend but am unsure how flexible any of them are. I am pretty much a vegetarian and don't want to pay for an entire meal that I am not going to eat. I know that places like Sel de la Terre, Beacon Hill Bistro, and l'espalier all have wine dinners one night of the week. Can anyone let me know anything about those? Where else should I look for options?
Thanks!

girls' birthday dinner - good food - good atmosphere
I always like to plan a girls' night out for my birthday and am looking for suggestions for this year. The requirements are: good food (but not too fancy or expensive) and some sort of atmosphere. The past few years we have done Dali, Panza, Eastern Standard, etc. I would appreciate any suggestions. There will be about ten of us. I enjoy Scampo but just went there this past weekend for another event.

Lunch near Prudential Duck tour?
I am going on a Duck Tour tomorrow with my grandparents and am looking for a place to go for lunch after we are finished. We will be right at the Prudential Center where the boats let off. My grandmother is not able to walk very far so we need something close by. Anything besides the CPK and Legal in the mall?
Lay it on me, hounds--best dining on Outer Cape
I have never been for dinner but we really enjoy Sol for breakfast. They have great muffins and pastries as well as quiche, eggs, granola, etc.
dinner options walking distance to Millenium Park?
So it is raining this afternoon but I still really want to check out the artwork in Millenium park. What options are there for dinner right around that area? We were going to venture a little more around the city but, assuming the weather is still lousy, may want to stay closer to the park. We are open to all sorts of cuisines but would like something nicer than pizza or basic bar food and do not want a chain. Thanks!
Coming from Boston tomorrow - where do I go?!
OK. Here is some more information!
We are staying at the Hilton Suites Magnificent Mile. During the day, I will be solo since the man will be working. I am not sure how far I am from museums and attractions but I would like to possibly head to the Field Museum and the Art Museum. Are there any very casual cafe type places near either of those?
In the afternoon, we will probably take in a boat tour to see the architecture and are going to try to head to a Cubs game.
Since we will only have three nights there we are thinking one nicer dinner, one deep dish pizza, and the third is open. We like good food, but nothing fancy. We are open to all sorts of ethnic options or American contemporary and are really just interested in exploring what Chicago has to offer. We have a lot of options here in Boston so I am not interested in any one type of cuisine - just what is good!
Thanks!
Coming from Boston tomorrow - where do I go?!
I am coming to Chicago tomorrow for the first time and staying for three nights on the Magnificent mile. Where should we go for dinner? We are in our early 30's, not super fancy, but into good food and atmosphere. We also could use some suggestions for lunch while we are out and about sight seeing. Any must see sights? Where do we go for deep dish pizza? Thanks!
Outdoor lunch today in South End?
I am looking for a spot to take my parents for lunch today in the South End. We want to sit outside and would prefer a lunch menu over a brunch one. Thoughts?
Anything new on the Vineyard?
I am heading down to MV for two weeks and would like to know what is new. Have any restaurants closed since last summer? Have any new ones opened? Any must tries?
Puff Pastry shells?
Hi,
I am supposed to bring either an appetizer or a dessert to a party this week and have some puff pastry shells that I would love to use up. I was thinking maybe a mini fruit tart or something with lemon curd if I do dessert ... What do you do with yours?
Favorite Summer Salad and where?
Any specific recommendations for salads there? I have had many other things from Yoma, and enjoyed them, but never a salad. And do they all have a fish sauce taste to them or are there some that are vegetarian?
Dok Bua or S&I thai?
So I tried S&I and it was pretty good. I didn't actually go there so I wasn't able to really talk to anyone to tell them my preferences. I thought it was less greasy that other thai places but I would have liked it to be more spicy. I also had a hard time finding something with a lot of veggies. Any suggestions for next time?
Dok Bua or S&I thai?
So I always order from Dok Bua and am generally pretty happy with it. I have been hearing some good things about S&I Thai on Brighton Ave. How do they compare? What is good there? I am nervous about switching up my usual thai delivery!

Five Guys coming to Natick!
Do they have any veggie options at 5 guys or are all of their burgers made of meat?
Carlo's Cucina - what happened?
I was also there a few weeks ago and had a great experience. The food was delicious - as usual. The staff seemed to be the same to me!
Kumquats?
Does anyone know where I can buy fresh kumquats this time of year? I would prefer to find some in the Allston/Brighton/Brookline area... Thanks!
Puerto Rican? Mofongo?
I am recently back from a trip to Puerto Rico where we ate some wonderful, local food. Are there any Puerto Rican restuarants in Boston? If not, are there any other restaurants that serve mofongo or similar cuisine?
Hot and Sour Soup
I am certainly not a hot and sour soup expert but I like the one at Joyful Garden in Brighton.
Help! I've moved to metrowest!
The middle eastern place in Westboro on Route 9 is called El Basha.
Where should I use my Phantom Gourmet gift card?
I had one too. I used it at Devlin's in Brighton and they had no problem taking it.
First time to Puerto Rico! Where to go... what to eat...
I was hoping for a few more suggestions! Anyone else?
