Adventurous Anniversary, not too $$$?
Hi Diana. Eagle Rock is one of the best neighborhoods in the city. Why not try one of the great restaurants in your soon to be new hood?
Auntie Em's (Eagle Rock Blvd.) has market dinners once a month and no corkage. $35. pp I think.
Colombos (Colorado Blvd.) is an old school swanky place with red leather booths and great live jazz. I love the chicken parm. Entrees approx $20.
Beaujolais (Colorado Blvd.) for authentic and tasty french cuisine. Check prices although when we go it's usually around $75 ish w/ wine.
Camilo's (Colorado) cal cuisine w/ a mexi flare. They sometimes have live (free!) music. They always have great food, white linen tablecloths and good service.
Larkins (Colorado) has delicious southern food and no or low corkage.
Happy Anniversary.

BBQ - Where to find the best in LA?
Larkins in Eagle Rock for some southern style ribs the way momma (she is literally in the kitchen) makes 'em. They also have killer corn bread!
Vacationing in Laguna - need help with eating recos
I went to Laguna Beach in June with my husband and we ate some very good meals while we were there.
Sapphire - The Lobster Club Salad was so freash and delicious. They split it for us and that was enough for lunch. The location is nice as it is right across PCH from the beach.
270 Forest Avenue - the name and the address are the same. My husband is a bit of an expert on Seafood Pasta (frutti di mare) and he said it was the first time there was more seafood than pasta! I had an amazing Calamari Caesar Salad. It may not sound that interesting but it was truly superb. Lunch cost about $60. with a couple glasses of wine.
242 Cafe Fusion Sushi - 242 PCH. The food was delicious - the service was terrible. They have a no soy sauce rule because the chef prepares the fish perfectly. That is true and it was incredibly fresh. Again though, the service forced us to wait longer for the check than it took us to eat the meal! I don't think we could stand the frustration a second time even though it may very well be the best sushi I've ever had! $100 for 2 people.
Laguna is beautiful and I reccomend walking on the beach south to the tidepools and checking out the cool architecture of the homes there.
L.A. County Fair Recommendations
My husband and I went to the fair yesterday and had some good (not necessarily good for you) chow. The best...
1. Apple Fries w/ Whipped Cream - located in front of race track. they are not too heavily battered and absolutely delicious. Get a fork!
2. Roasted Turkey Leg @ Big Bubba's - located in front of race track. We took this one home and it travelled well. Tasty and not bad for you!
3. Deep Fried Artichoke Hearts @ Jeannes - located on Broadway Street. Yes it was fried - no it wasn't too greasy. A very tasty treat to eat!
4. Cinnamon Buns @ Old West - located by farm area in back by craft area. We took this home too. We shared everything including this yummy desert. It would be WAY too big to eat by oneself at one sitting. My gosh that was good, sweet, buttery and memorable.
5. Fresh lemonade - located throughout the park. Very good especially when watered down with a cup of free Sparkletts water (located in front of race track).
All in all a fun day at the LA County Fair. If you go during the day, make sure to take your decadent treats under the huge pine trees by the bandstand and hear good music while eating in the shade. Have fun!
