SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE "BEST"

Amen. My husband, who is not by any means even close to being a foodie, was rolling his eyes at that one.

Seafood Sausage in San Diego ???

A few times we've been to the Linkery they've had a seafood sausage in their rotation

Favorite The Office food moments

Yes! There's a guy in my office that looks like Andy. And every time I see him in the hall, I think "Big Tuna!"

Cafe Japengo in La Jolla/UTC

I had dinner there for the very first time about a month or two ago. I had the fried tofu, which I thought was really tasty. We also had wine, dessert, and an appetizer.

I have to agree that the prices are crazy for what you get. We enjoyed our food and had a nice time, but we spent a BOATLOAD of money. I would not pay that much again for that meal.

Cupcackes and Sushi at UTC Mall in La Jolla

Holy cow! I've moaned about not knowing a cupcake place around here. I work nearby so I'll have to check them out.

is Wheatena hot cereal still made/sold/marketed

Yes!

I used to eat it every day for breakfast (people at work called it "potting soil") but then it became hard to find.

But just yesterday I was at an Albertson's here in San Diego and it was still on the shelf. I do find that not all supermarkets carry it, though.

CSA ~ glad it's finally over...

Oh lord have mercy I feel you on the lettuce. I get a box every other week, and there has been lettuce (at least 2 heads, as many as 4 heads) in EVERY SINGLE BOX. I secretly love the "off week" when I don't have to eat a dang salad!

But otherwise, we've gotten a great mix of all sorts of things, including other greens and things I wouldn't normally eat very often. It's done a pretty good job of broadening my horizons. (though sometimes I wish there was more fruit and less veg in the box)

CSA in San Diego with lots of good fruit??

I'm a member of JR Organics CSA, and if I could improve one thing about it, it would be to have more fruit in the box.

This past week in the box we got a pint of strawberries, a smallish melon, and 3 white nectarines. They are all great tasting, but I'd love to have a higher fruit to vegetable ratio. I still have to supplement my produce by buying more fruit. Typically I just go to Henry's where I do the rest of my shopping, but if I had more time, I'd always go the farmers market route.
