Merch Mart lunch meeting - delivery recs needed!
My client has requested that I order lunch into their office at the Merchandise Mart for a noon meeting this week. Being from out of town and without a car, I'm looking for some solid lunch delivery recommendations that my client will view as a treat. They have turned to me for suggestions, and I'd like to impression them a little bit! Any help is appreciated! There won't be a large group, so catering platters aren't really an option.
3 days in Baltimore-Where *MUST* I eat?
no visit to baltimore is complete without spending some time in fells point! so i recommend heading to mezze - fabulous tapas and you really won't go hungry. i always over order there and when does that happen at a tapas place? after dinner you can head down to some quintessential baltimore bars that are also on thames street like cats eye pub and waterfront hotel. good live music and lots of beers to choose from. max's further down on broadway is also worth checking out post-dinner. i would recommend that you NOT go to bertha's for dinner which amongst some has a reputation for good mussels...however i have found them to be mushy and sub-par. and the rest of the menu is blah. HAVE FUN!
Anyone been to Talara yet (Harbor East - BMore)?
i checked out their happy hour specials. have $5 drink list and i think $5 tapas list. scallop tapas was delish but rest was decent as a previous reviewer noted, not great. had some sort of chicken tostada and a shrimp/fruit seviche. mojitos were tasty - try the key lime mojito. sweet twist on the traditional mojito, not too sweet though as im not a sweet drink person and found it to be good. disappointed with the decor. thought it looked cheap inside and that they could have better utilized the space.
birthday dinner in baltimore
my birthday is next friday and im drawing a blank on where to head to dinner with friends. there will probably be a decent sized group - maybe 6 or 8 of us - and id like to keep the price reasonable. other than that, just want good food, maybe something i haven't tried before, and good drinks.
How do you organize recipes you find online?
MakingSense makes sense!
The only hurdle is having access to a printer - you didn't list this as an issue so you should be good.
I was never a binder person in school and I'm not super-anally organized, but I DO keep a 3 ring binder with 3 ring hole punch in the kitchen. After making a recipe, I pop it in the binder.
I love having a good old fashioned "cook book" to peruse, plus I got one of those binders with a clear front and made funky food collages for the front and back. I write any notes right there on the recipe.
What are Balt most over-rated Restaurants?
Pazo - or is it so overrated that everyone here takes for granted how overrated it is? Have had much better food at the same price or less.
I have to disagree on The Helmand. Went there for the first time about 2 months ago and thought it was off the charts good.
Dirty vodka martinis in bmore?
I'm fiending for a go-to place for dirty vodka martinis in Baltimore...my mouth is watering as I write this. I live in Canton so the closer the better, especially given the nature of the drink!!!
Where can I find great nachos in Baltimore?
sounds like you're seeking the traditional nacho route, but may i make a non-traditional suggestion after you get your fix? try out the duck nachos at saute in canton. duck, jalapenos, tangy cheese. who woulda thought...but they are soooo good!
DC Date Night
My boyfriend is taking me out to dinner- my choice. I live in Baltimore, he lives in DC, so I'm not super familiar with all DC has to offer. Curious to hear the recs of other Hounders. We've got about $140 to spend (he took his change jar to the bank, ha!). Basically looking for something romantic/guaranteed delish/good wine!
Baltimore diner needs new recs!
I think I need to give Peter's a second shot- had heard so many great things about it but wasn't quite up to expectation. I had cheese grits and shrimp; my date had fish tacos. My dish was pretty yummy; his was pretty sub-par.
Baltimore diner needs new recs!
Ah thanks for reminding me about Annabel Lee's...that place seems to be getting some pretty good buzz. I'm interested to know more about this new Meridian 54...
Red Fish reopening in Bmore?
What's up with the "new" Red Fish on Boston street? What's the menu like and is it any good? I haven't been there to eat previously...
Baltimore Sunday Brunch
I agree that Mama's has superb bloody mary's. Miss Shirley's is amazing- and I hear they opened a location in the Inner Harbor pretty recently. Or you can head up to the orginal one off 83.
Baltimore diner needs new recs!
I'm looking for some new dinner places to try- I live in Canton and feel as though I've exhausted most of the good stuff in Canton and Fells. Anything new and spectacular I should check out in the neighborhood? Some of my favs include Jack's Bistro, Mezze, and Birches...if that helps...thanks!
Guinness Beer in Baltimore...
I urge you to visit Mahaffey's in Canton- right behind the Safeway. I'm not sure of the Guiness price but it won't be more than $5. Plus they always have around 20 beers on tap that change week to week- good stuff from around the world- and a 3 for $4 happy hour special that's great for sampling new things. The staff there will put in a good recommendation for you...low key atmosphere and good food.
