Where can I buy really nice loose leaf tea?
Me too, I buy tea online. Nice list of online vendors here, and I would like to add one more: http://floatingleaves.com/ - they specialize in Taiwanese oolong.
Real Mexican Food In New Jersey
Thanks to this review, we have found the best Mexican in central Jersey! Just want to report back that they have recently expanded their menu. They now more tacos including lengua (to die for!) and burritos.
Indian Restaurants Rt 27 Franklin Park NJ to Somerset NJ
We tried Paratha Junction this past weekend and the food is great! We had cauliflower and fish paratha and they are out of this world. Also they had some saag dishes as daily specials. I had the saag chicken and it is the best saag I've ever had.
We had a great meal. Thanks a lot for the list!

Taiwan - Where is your favorite place for...
Actually for Keelung, you can easily take a train there from Taipei main station. The famous Miaokou night market is near the train station. I believe the train ticket is about NT$50 one way.

Taiwan - Where is your favorite place for...
KK, great info, especially on the night markets. One of my favorite night markets that you didn't mention is JingMei. It's right next to a MRT station, and it is not touristy at all, actually it has a nice local flavor to it - the old time Taipei like you mentioned. It's where I used to go all the time when growing up.

Dave, reading your post makes me homesick (I grew up in Taipei)! Most of the items you listed are "night market" food, so IMO you can find good ones almost everywhere, but hard to find information about which ones are the best. If you can read Chinese, then here is a website sort of like yelp and chowhound with great food reviews: http://www.ipeen.com/
Re: beef noodle, I just posted some information I found in a different thread: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/647060
Enjoy your trip. I will be back home in December and I can't wait.
Taipei, 1st time visitor
There is a beef noodle festival in Taipei every year, and in fact, the voting will start soon for the 2009 festival soon: http://www.2009tbnf.com.tw/
Unfortunately there is not much information on the 2009 website yet in English (if you can read Chinese then lots of info there), but I found this English list of "60 beef noodle restaurants" from the 2008 website: http://www.taipei.gov.tw/cgi-bin/SM_theme?page=494b9e15
There are so many other kinds of great food in Taipei, and not just beef noodle soup though.
New Haven, Ct. Is there a good chineese restaurant? Is there a good fish market?
Formosa (in North Haven) is very good!
Formosa is Taiwan's nickname so many of the dishes there are Taiwanese. So don't be surprised if the food you get there is a little different than what you get from other good Chinese restaurants.
We had dinner there tonight and the menu is in both Chinese and English. I wonder if this is something new?
Oh, btw, I am Chinese, and a native of Taiwan.
Tamale Vendors
Yes, the Mexican place in Trenton Farmers Market has great tamales. We drive down from Princeton to get them on Saturdays all the time. You do need to get there early though. They usually are sold out by mid afternoon.
Szechuan House - Hamilton, NJ?
Had lunch there last weekend and the food is very good IMHO. The beef tendon we had (which was recommended by the restaurtant) is one of the best I have had in years.
I am not a "foreign-ghost" though, so maybe that makes a difference.
