DC to NOLA in Oct-make reservations now?

Also, Rio Mar is a great upscale place near your hotel. I had awesome fish there but the menu changes frequently. It's way better than Emerils and you won't have annoying celebrity chef stuff to put up with.

HELP! English girl from Hong Kong looking for good food $20 or under!

I agree that Coops on Decatur is reliably good cheap eats for the Quarter. So is 13 which is on Frenchmen Street-they also have a decent vegetarian selection if that matters. For Uptown, Casamento's (Magazine Street at Napoleon) has the very best fried oysters you'll ever eat and they are cheap. Also, Stein's Deli (Magazine at Jackson) is great too. It's not trsditional New Orleans food but their sandwiches are awesome. The Grocery (St Charles and 6th) is a good choice for sandwiches too.

I'm not sure about that whole Popeyes discussion. There's so much good food in NOLA I'm not sure why anyone would waste time with chain junk food. I've lived here about 8 years and eaten Popeyes maybe twice.

Another thing to consider is that NOLA is a good lunch city. If you're on a budget but want to try the finer dining, get lunch or brunch there. It's still not as cheap as a deli, but an affordable way to try the nice places.
Have fun and eat hearty!
