Breakfast between Jackson, MI & Chicago?

Looking for any breakfast finds between Jackson and Chicago for an upcoming trip. Family friendly, affordable, relatively near the route, and of course yumminess are all factors.

Thanks!

2 Days in Portland (And a little Florence)?

We are a small family relocation from the SF Bay Area to Michigan a few years ago. Next week we are going to Florence for a family reunion, and then to Portland for a couple of days. We have 2 young boys (4 & 6), and we have a few questions.

- Hot Pot is something we miss, and Hot Pot City was on our short list, but the web-site is no longer up, are they still in business, and are they worth one of our few dinner spots.

- Recommendations of yummy, affordable food is appreciated. We like ethnic food, and fun unique restaurants. From searching the board, our short list is: Wong's King Seafood, Brazil Grill, Cha, Cha, Cha, Halibut's, Paley's Place, Pok Pok, Cha Ba Thai, and Banh Cuon Tan Dinh. That is a lot of places for 3 or 4 meals. Any help narrowing it down, or pointing out a gem that we missed is appreciated.

- We are still deciding the 101 vs 5 route from Florence to Portland. From a culinary perspective, which would you suggest?

- Speaking of Florence, any good seafood places that you can recommend?

Lots of questions, I know, but any help would be appreciated.

Detroit Auto Show with Kids?

Looking for yummi food around the auto show. I am taking my 3 and 6 year old boys with me, and we are riding the bus in from the Henry Ford.

Given the lack of car, the cold, and the boys, are there any suggestions that are in the really good but cheap category? We are open to about anything, but personality is a plus.

Sushi Specials in Detroit

Godaiko does still have the two-for-one specials. They also have daily specials that have 4 or 5 dishes for about $20. We have always had good luck ordering that. While I am sure that there are better places than Godaiko in the area, this has become our favorite, as the service always seems to be good, and we always enjoy our food.

BEETS!! beets?

We really love Alton Brown's Pickled beet recipe (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recip...), although, I do love most pickled things. I used red wine vinegar because I was too cheap to buy a fancy kind.

Chinese Hot Pot in the Midwest?

I gotta ask, since we seem to have some similar tastes. What other restaurants to you really like around here? We are struggling to find many places that we like to frequent.

Burritos in Ann Arbor?

We tried Chipotle last Friday night. It wasn't too bad. No Taqueria San Jose in Oakland, but it filled the craving. Thanks for the advice!

Chinese Hot Pot in the Midwest?

The Milpitas Hot Pot City was the place for us as well. We even went there one time on Thanksgiving. I would drive hours at this point for something comparable. I haven't found a thing yet though. Maybe will have to try one of the recs in Cleaveland that Nancy mentioned.

Burritos in Ann Arbor?

Hey all, looking for some good burritto's like they have in the bay area, cali. I have heard about Panchero's and Big 10 Burritos on the boards here. Any thoughts???

Chinese Hot Pot in the Midwest?

Is there any good hot pot places in the midwest. We are in mid-michigan, but willing to travel a ways for some. I am talking about the good fondue type places where you get the raw ingredients and cook it at your table.

Thanks.

Detroit Area CSAs?

We have just signed up for Tantre Farms CSA from Chelsea Area (Pickup in ann arbor). I have heard good things about it, but have yet to experience it.

Kelly:
I am curious about the buffalo you bought. What do they charge for the 1/4 bison, and how is the meat?

Cooking Classes in Taiwan?

We are going to Taiwan for a couple of weeks. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good cooking classes that we could take while we are there?

A few days in Burlington, Vt alone

I am heading to Burlington this weekend for a job interview on Monday morning. Looking for a couple places that I can go by myself to have good food without breaking the bank.

Thanks.

Japanese in Ann Arbor?

Since my original post, we have been to Godaiko a few times. The food is consistantly good, and while there may be better purist sushi out there, I always leave Godaiko having really enjoyed the experience as a whole. I had a lunch special there about a month ago, that blew me away. It is probably my favorite (of my limited experience) Japanese in the area.

Good Eats in the Loop?

OK, as should be expected, I am no longer staying at the Palmer (but will still be in that area for business). for a savings of $150 a night, I am now staying at the Holiday Inn City Center on E. Ohio and N Fairbanks Ct.

Again, any advice is appreciated.

Good Eats in the Loop?

Hello all,
I am going to Chicago on Business, and will be stuck downtown without a car. I will be at the Palmer house on the corner of E. Monroe and State. Any good food that I wouldn't need to justify when I turn in receipts (resonably priced). A decent steak house would be great, but open to anything!

Thanks in advance.

Food Recs in Toronto for Out of towners?

Food Recs in Toronto for Out of towners?

Food Recs in Toronto for Out of towners?

My boys are 2 and 4 and are generally well behaved in a restaurant. They like to eat, so the wait is usually the only time we need to distract them. We will be staying at the radisson that is right by the 401 and the 404. We will have a car as well. My wife is originally from Taiwan, and we lived in the bay area for about 10 years, so we are hankering for some good food. Where is the dim sum and taiwanese food you mentioned? Big Mouth Kee sounds good too, where is it located?

Also what is a busker?

Food Recs in Toronto for Out of towners?

We are visiting Toronto this weekend. We miss our good asian food from our days living in San Francisco bay area, so want some good Hot Pot, dim sum, taiwanese, etc. Also any other good recommendations for a small family with two young boys.

Thanks in advance.

Japanese in Ann Arbor?

We tried to go to Godaiko, but unfortunately it was closed for Saturday Lunch. In a round about way, we ended up at Miki. Very good food, and great service, but overpriced. I doubt we will return, even though the only negative was that the price was about 20 - 30% higher than we thought it should be for the food.

Japanese in Ann Arbor?

We are hankering for some good Japanese food this weekend in Ann Arbor. I have heard good things about so many of the restaurants here (Miki, Yotsuba, Totoro, Sushi.com, Sadako...). I am hoping you can help.

We have 2 boys (2 & 4) who are generally well behaved, and don't want to spend too much on a lunch, but don't need super cheap either. Any advise on a good semi kid-friendly japanese place that won't break the bank?

Thanks
