Well unfortunately my trip has come to an end and I am home now. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time and ate some great food. I want to thank everyone for the suggestions. This forum made choosing food destinations very easy with all the previous suggestions and threads. My destinations are as follows....
We went to Cosmic Diner on 8th and 53rd. We both order a bagel with cream cheese and lox and a side of bacon with a cup of coffee. We were very pleased. The lox as fresh, the coffee was good and the bagel was great. We were very pleased.
We ended up not eating until we were at the Yankee game that night. Basic baseball food was enjoyed. The game was great and the food was typical of a baseball stadium.
After getting off the subway we were both a little hungry. The smells coming from the food carts all day had enticed us to try it at least once so we went for it. Chicken over rice with white sauce and a bit of hot sauce from the Halal Cart on 50th and 6th. The food was great and I wish we could have gotten it once more before we left. Oh well next time.
For breakfast we had complementary breakfast at the hotel. The food was excellent and very filling. It was definitely a good start to the day. My only gripe was that the coffee was a bit weak. Not too bad overall.
Lunch we walked over to Gray's Papaya and got 2 recession specials (2 dogs and a drink for $3.50!) The hot dogs were great! We were both very pleased. Drinks were a bit weird for our normal hot dog meals but it was a pleasure for both of us.
Tuesday night my girlfriend and i enjoyed a beautiful and romantic dinner at Marchi's Restaurant. My family has gone there since they opened about 78 years ago so it is a tradition for us to go now. We loved every bit of it and I highly recommend asking to sit in the Garden area if you go, it is like another world.
Once again we had free breakfast at the Belvedere Cafe. Once again good breakfast as the day before.
For lunch we at eat John's Pizzeria on 44th St. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. the Caesar salad was very good and the pizza was great. We really enjoyed it and wished we had room for more!
Unfortunately for dinner our plans were crushed. the transportation company messed up our reservation and ended up coming to pick us up over an hour early. So we had to end our dining experience with food from La Guardia airport. We were both very disappointed but we had no other choice.
All in all we were very pleased with our trip. I thank you again for all of your help and suggestions. I look forward to our next trip to NYC! Thanks again.
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I only wish I had more time to try all of them. I am compiling a list of places and locations so we can see what we're in the mood for. If you have any other suggestions please feel free to drop em now. Again much thanks to everyone.
I'm not too worried about the 8 blocks to Gray's. We walk quite a bit here at home and our trip isn't too crazy that we'll be walking an insane amount everyday. Thanks though.
My main issue I think is really breakfast on monday morning. I've heard mixed reviews on the Rock Center Cafe which is why I asked here. For us breakfast wouldn't have to be anything fancy, good bagels, maybe egg sandwiches, coffee. Nothing classy and out of this world. Tulcingo seems interesting but it is a bit out of our way. Any other suggestions?
Sounds good so far!
I think the Gray's Papaya has made my list! Thanks UWS. We'll probably go there after the Museum and before the Park.
Tulcingo Del Valle sounds interesting and I am adding it to my list, thats Abud.
Keep the suggestions coming everyone! I am writing down my itinerary this weekend.
Hey everyone, I am a new poster here but have been searching the boards for quite some time now. I love this site! Anyway I have been to NYC many, many times with my family but this trip will be the first that my girlfriend and I are enjoying together. We are arriving in NYC Monday Sept. 15th in the A.M. and departing Wednesday the 17th in the P.M.
Anyway I have planned out most of the trip thanks to this site and just need a few minor suggestions for some good eats. So you know we aren't picky eaters, I will try anything at least once and she would do it if I did it haha.
Monday the 15th:
I'm also looking to finalize a late lunch/early dinner place. We're attending the Yankee game that night. I have Carnegie Deli on my list before we jump on the subway to get to the stadium. Sound like a good idea? Any place near the stadium in the Bronx we "MUST" try out? Also any food in Yankee stadium that is a must?

Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions. This site is a great source of info!
