Study report: Low carb for diabetes

This study is far from conclusive. Moreover points to a need perhaps for more fermented foods, probiotics, etc rather than less diet soda necessarily.

I agree. It's difficult to execute for many as I'm learning the more I get involved in low carb nutritional counseling.

What's for Low-Carb Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner? #4

I just couldn't resist sharing Saturday breakfast from last week - pork belly omelet...why have I never thought to put pork belly in an omelet?

I have been craving a burger for months so Sunday's dinner was a juicy bison burger on roasted portobello caps with Raclette and bacon all wrapped in Iceberg.

Tonight's dinner will be pan-roasted Sockeye salmon topped with artichokes and spinach sauteed in garlic and olive oil, all finished with olive tapenade and Feta.

Is it too soon to talk about Thanksgiving?

Nope, you read my mind! I'll be home alone with the cat as I have to work the day before and after which means I get to plan and cook exactly what I want!

WFD will be either Sockeye salmon or swordfish..I can't decide! Whichever my peabrain decides it will be pan-seared, topped with spinach and artichokes sauteed in garlic and olive oil and finished with olive tapenade and Feta.

Is it me or is there an Avocado Blight or bad crop lately?

Yes, it's a Peru issue it seems. Mexico or California if you want to avoid the blight.

I'm currently pondering that as I've done portobello burgers but not as the burger bun. I think I'll roast them. I'm sooo looking forward to it!

All this girl wants is a big, juicy burger!! WFD - bison burger with bacon, Raclette, onions sandwiched between two portabello caps all wrapped in a Bibb lettuce leaf. Zucchini chips on the side with chili garlic aioli.

CAULIFLOWER....A LOT of cauliflower!! I am now officially obsessed with this vegetable wonder. It's a big weekend here in Baltimore as it's the 200th Anniversary of the penning of the Star-Spangled Banner. I slipped out to watch the Blue Angels this afternoon and now have to finish up some work so dinner will be a quick but hopefully delicious bowl of comfort. Cauliflower casserole with shredded turkey breast, crispy smoked pork loin and a mix of Red Leicester and Havarti.

I am absolutely loving this weather, fall is my favorite season. I had a great week and I attribute much of that to the change of season. I have no official projects but perhaps it's just me but is anyone else thinking about Thanksgiving already?

Do you think wheat is "the root of all evil" or staff of life?

Essential? You might want to review a few more sources.

Yea lots of passion sort of like religion...I don't like to mix science and religion :)

I asked for what science the "opinions" were based on and met with condescension so I removed myself from the discussion.

This is basically my approach. I cook enough for one meal.

Well, now the chest freezer is overflowing and I started packing the fridge-attached freezer again...how did this happen!

What's for dinner #325 - The Transition to Autumn Edition [through September 12, 2014]

Thanks! I do sometimes question why I decided to become obsessed with it in the middle of summer. It's been the Wednesday special since half-Christmas. Hmm, so my trash day is Thursday as well. Your schedule makes much more sense than stashing all the bones in my freezer which is about to explode. I think Zuni chicken might be the Tuesday night special for the fall.

It's Wednesday so it's Zuni chicken night. I've been in the mood for rosemary so included herbs with the brine this week - rosemary and thyme. Her Highness will be served with braised fennel root and a red wine pan sauce.
