Iowa City Taco Truck

I was just in IC last week. Wish I had checked here. I love taco trucks. Maybe next time.

KC to STL by car - What's good along I 70?

Clearly Booches.

Restaurant Rack of Lamb in St Louis

Thanks for the tips so far. Any other thoughts?

Restaurant Rack of Lamb in St Louis

Going to St Louis in a few weeks. I'm craving rack of lamb and was hoping for a local suggestion downtown or central (CWE, Loop, Clayton).
West County would be ok, but a little out of the way.

Thanks all!

Seafood in Kansas City?

We always have real good luck with the seafood department at Hen House at 119th and Row. Good luck.

BYOB in Kansas City

Not BYOB, but Extra Virgin has half price on wine up to $100 on Mondays.
Michael Smiths has half price on wine up to $100 on Wednesdays.
The American has half price on wine over $200 on Tuesdays.

Best Hamburger in Midwest

A few shots from Booche's

Best Hamburger in Midwest

Booche's. Get there 11-11:30 or after 1. Love that place. I have been known to plan trips from KC to St Louis to stop there. Ok, almost every time.
In St Louis, Lou Rook's (at Annie Gunn's) burger of the month (whatever it is) or Newstead Tower on Manchester is a little more high brow, but great.

BEST DEALS IN THE KANSAS CITY AREA

La Fonda El Taquito - $1 tacos on Thursdays as well as Margarita specials same day.
Micheal Smiths 1/2 price wine Wednesdays under $100
Extra Virgin 1/2 pice wine on Monday's under $100.

STL area lunch rec with river views?

I thought as much. But since they moved to the top floor and have a killer view, I had to throw it out there.

STL area lunch rec with river views?

Indoor only, but Kemoll's moved to the top on the One Met building. Here is a photo I took from my lunch a couple of weeks ago. http://www.twitpic.com/3d24l
It's on the 42 floor.

Morel Mushrooms in Kansas City 2009?

They tend to start hi and then come down over the next few weeks.

Good sports bar in St. Louis Metro area

Not a "sports bar", but they do have tvs and do have sports on. Great bar, small patio out back. J.P. Fields in Clayton. Good food and a small but good selection of wines as well.

Morel Mushrooms in Kansas City 2009?

I'm seeing some rumblings on the 'net. Anyone seeing them yet?
Farmers Market, McGonigles?

Has anyone gone to the Richmond MO Morel Fest in May? I'm thinking of making the trip this year.

Brunch in Kansas City?

Frondizi's has closed a while ago.
I would second Grand Street though. ALways one of my favorites and a menu brunch (which I prefer).

Kansas City Fish Fries 2009

Hope they keep the Soft Shell crabs.

Kansas City Fish Fries 2009

Last Friday for Lenten Fish Fries. Just a reminder.
I think Bristol is the only restaurant that I am aware of that advertised a Lenten, non-meat, Friday special. Of course they are primarily a seafood place. But how many missed?

Best Hamburger in Midwest

Booches it is. The perfect stop between Kansas City and St Louis.

Kansas City Fish Fries 2009

I wish. We stretch the utility of the kitchen as it is.
We do have fresh baked desserts though. Ok, some are bought.

Kansas City Fish Fries 2009

Peanut oil it is.
Oh, by the way it starts at 5:00 pm and wraps up at 7:00 pm. It gets pretty busy, so good to come by early.

Kansas City Fish Fries 2009

Ok, fellow chowhounders, anyone going to any Fish Fries this Lent? I part of the crew that puts together the ones at Nativity Church at 119th and Mission Road. We've done it for three years now. I think ours is pretty good and a good value. Of course you do not need to be a member of Nativity, or even Catholic to come and enjoy. This year I'm helping get it set up, but wanted to try a few others in the area. Let me know which ones I should try. Only five more weeks left.

This years menu includes:
Baked Tilapia, Battered Cod, Catfish Nuggets, Boiled Shrimp (additional cost), Seasoned Red Potatoes, Tater Tots, Tossed Salad, Green Beans, Cheese Pizza, Macaroni & Cheese, Dinner Rolls, Drink and Dessert.

Prices:
$9.00 for Adults (13 years and older)
$5.00 for Youth (5 - 12 years old)
$5.00 extra per plate extra for all you can eat boiled Shrimp
$35.00 Family Price ($50 to include shrimp)
Children 4 and younger eat free!

Thanks!

Serrano ham in Kansas City

I tried the Serrano from Costco. Not good. Very oily, not that flavorful. We do buy a lot from them, but this was a miss.

Jack Stack BBQ at Country Club Plaza

LC's rocks. They still fry their fries in lard!
Jack Stack is quite a bit more upscale, but still cas. Amazing lamb ribs.

Where to eat on Highway 44 STL to Tulsa

I found Sweetwater BBQ just sourthwest of rolla a bit.
14076 Highway Z
St Robert, MO 65584
(573) 336-8830

A bit casual, but great brisket.

3 days in Kansas City in September

I agree about the American. If you're not going there for dinner, stop by for cocktails around sunset. Beautiful. Also, don't forget that a number of the higher end places are open for lunch.

2 BBQ Joints in KC-What to get?

Don't forget the fries (crispy) at LC's. They still fry them in lard. Oh yeah!

Three days in Kansas City-where to go?

Higher end, I would suggest, Michael Smiths, 1924 and Bluestem. The American is beautiful. A great suggestion for cocktails at the bar around sunset. Room 39 has casual atmosphere, but priced a bit higher. One of my favorites. They also serve breakfast and have great coffee. Harry's Country Club and the Peanut are favorite local bars. JJ's and Classic Cup have great, deep wines lists fairly priced.
Have fun.

Three days in Kansas City-where to go?

Which Marriott? What area of town? What kind of places are you looking for? LC's BBQ is a must. Very casual though. Fill in a few details and I'll keep you busy.
