dinner recs near Santa Monica Blvd & Vine

going to see a play tonight at Theater Asylum near Santa Monica Blvd & Vine. Any recs for good restaurants in the area? We like all types of cuisine.

Best Mexican near Studio City / NoHo

What's the best Mexican restaurant? I don't mind a hole in a wall as long as it has REALLY good soft tacos. I love a good carnitas or carne asada tacos. Must have good salsa as well.

Yummy fettucini at Louise's

I must agree with you in that I actually like Louise's Trattoria. I actually think their pasta is better than other "authentic" Italian restaurants. I'm not saying they have the best pasta in town, but I like their menu and think the food quality is pretty high. Good thing there's one by me in Studio City as well. Sometimes I crave their Pappardelle with Italian Sausage.

Best all you can eat Sushi recommendations...?

I've been to Mosun and it was OK. Pretty limited menu to choose from (basically lots of tempura rolls and the like), although their nigiri sushi was actually OK quality. Laguna is far from LA though...

Midori Sushi in Studio City is fairly decent for all you can eat.

Sushi in the valley

I've been to quite a few sushi restaurants on Ventura Blvd and hands down my favorite is Sushi Katsu-Ya. Very high quality at a very good price.

I tried Asanebo and although the quality was very good, it was too pricey. The portions of their dishes are very small and it's nearly twice the price of Katsu-Ya.

Tama is great, they have a sushi combo plate for around $20 where you get 10 or 12 pieces of sushi. I remember the cuts of fish being pretty large.

Sushi Don Sasabune is good for what it is... good quality fish at decent prices in a bare bones hole in the wall. They mainly do take out business since they have no decor whatsoever.

I just found out about Farm Boy (produce market) and love there take out sushi. Huge pieces for incredibly cheap prices. Way better than Gelsons take out sushi.

People knock on Sushi Dan, but I think it's decent for what is is.... a place to take people who aren't true sushi lovers so they can get the american style rolls.

Went to Midori Sushi once, and left thinking "this is decent sushi for an all you can eat place".

Have yet to try Iroha.

What are the prices like at Iroha?

Best Indian in Studio City?

Looking for a good Indian restaurant. My favorite dish is Chicken Tikka Masala.

Sushi in Glendale - Recommendations Needed

I would skip Zono Sushi. Not very good quality... but then again Glendale doesn't have a ton of sushi options. I would try Aobo (239 N Brand Blvd), they are a Japanese restaurant that also serves sushi. Haven't been there in a while, but from what I remembered their sushi is decent. Better than Zono IMO.

It's-It Ice Creams in Pasadena!

That brings back good memories... I used to buy an It's It every day in junior high during my lunch break for $0.50. I loved them.

Quick, healthy takeout food near studio city/valley village?

Great call on Farm Boy's! I had never heard of the place before even though I've been to Trader Joes a few times. Their sushi was pretty fresh and the pieces are really big. 6 huge pieces of salmon sushi for $6.50! A way better deal than the sushi at Trader Joes or Gelsons. Plus they have Korean BBQ Bulgogi (marinated beef), so I picked up a pound of that for $7 and had for dinner. Really good! Thanks for the rec!

Quick, healthy takeout food near studio city/valley village?

I tried Tony's Mexican Grill the other day. Didn't think it was that great. I had the grilled steak salad... nothing special. Plus parking in that small lot is a nightmare so it's not convenient for me to easily pick up food on my way home.

RIP Nook Short Ribs :(

Sigh... I loved their short ribs. Fall off the bone tender and very tasty.

Quick, healthy takeout food near studio city/valley village?

Hmmm... I live right next to Tony's Mexican Grill and Fish in the Village and have never tried them out. Thanks for the recs! I'll be giving them a try shortly.

Quick, healthy takeout food near studio city/valley village?

I stopped by Sushi Don Sasabune and I was very impressed by the fish quality for the price. The place is VERY simple, no decor whatsoever. You wouldn't think the fish is as fresh as it is just by looking at the place. I order the 5 piece sushi and donburi bowl (spicy yellowtail) for $14. The fish was really fresh and the bowl was very good sized. A great find! I'll be stopping by at least once a week for dinner.

Quick, healthy takeout food near studio city/valley village?

Hmmm... never thought about picking up premade food from Gelson's. I'll have to give it a try.

Sushi Don sounds like a good place.

Thanks for the recs!

Quick, healthy takeout food near studio city/valley village?

I stopped by Le Pain Quotidien after work, got there at 6:40pm... and found out that the kitchen closed at 6:30pm. Oh well, I probably won't be able to try it since I can't get there in time. Ended up going to El Pollo Loco.

Quick, healthy takeout food near studio city/valley village?

I've been to Skaff's once and it was good. The problem is that the parking lot is so small. I tried to go there the other day after work and 2 cars were already waiting inside the lot for someone to leave.

Quick, healthy takeout food near studio city/valley village?

I'm looking for new places that offer quick, healthy food for takeout. Items such as rice bowl, salads, shwarma plates, etc. I like all types of cuisine, preferably under $10.

This would be pickup on my way home from work so the place has to have easy parking access so I can get in and out quickly. Thanks!

Dinner for 50 in Maui

I'm having my wedding in Maui in May. We are planning a welcome dinner for all the guests flying into Maui (it's a destination wedding) and we plan on there being about 50 people. We don't want to break the bank on the welcome dinner and are looking for recommendations. We would like to keep the costs down and would like a family style restaurant if possible (either Chinese or Italian). Or if there's a moderately price nice restaurant you can recommend. We would like to spend around $30-35 per person (hopefully that can include some wine). Any help is greatly appreciated! We are looking at the Wailea or Lahaina areas.

dinner/drinks near Beverly Hills/Century City

Thanks for the Nic's suggestion. Would it be a good place to go with 10 people?

Anyone been to the new Trader Vics at the Beverly Hilton?

dinner/drinks near Beverly Hills/Century City

I'm looking for a fun place for dinner & drinks near beverly hills/century city or within 5 miles. nothing outrageously expensive, but looking for a fun atmosphere place with good food and full bar. $15-25 price range. any type of cuisine. thanks for the recs.

lunch near Century City for 15

I'm organizing a team lunch next week for about 15 people. Our office is in century city near the century city mall. Looking for a good place to eat (reasonably priced $10-20) for lunch. Willing to drive up to 5 miles... so Beverly Hills and Westwood are OK. They must take reservations since it's a large party. Any suggestions?

dinner in Westwood

I'm going to the David Geffen Theater in westwood on sunday night for a play. Any dinner recs? All types of cuisine, something on the "nice yet casual" side. Thanks.

Cheapish Bday Dinner tonight in the Valley (Please help)

I was just there yesterday for the first time. I had the combo plate... it had 3 meat skewers, rice, hummus, and salad. All for $12. I think I got the most expensive item on the menu. Food quality was good. The decor leaves a lot to be desired, but it is what it is. Think junior high cafeteria table and chairs.

What to order at Nook Bistro

The braised short ribs are very good. Not quite fall off the bone tender, but still tender and very tasty. Comes with mashed potatoes and some type of vegatables.

I've also had the hamburger and that's pretty good. Comes with shoestring fries.

ISO quick, tasty, healthy food near North Hollywood / Studio City

Hmmm... I've never noticed the restaurant. I always drive south on Coldwater Canyon to get to the 101 freeway and always notice the taco stand on the right side just as I get on the freeway. I didn't know there was a restaurant kittycorner. How is the food?

ISO quick, tasty, healthy food near North Hollywood / Studio City

Hugo's the taco stand? I always drive by, but never been. The food is good?

ISO quick, tasty, healthy food near North Hollywood / Studio City

nothing?

ISO quick, tasty, healthy food near North Hollywood / Studio City

I'm looking for restaurants that offer quick service (being able to order at the counter for take out) and tasty, healthy food. An example would be a rice bowl with teriyaki chicken or beef and veggies. Doesn't have to be asian food, but just anything quick, healthy, and fairly cheap.

Mexican supermarket to buy fresh carnitas

I've also tried that from Costco. It's actually pretty good. The trick is when you need to reheat it, cover the bowl with a wet paper towel to keep it moist.
