Maybe the best sandwich I've ever had at Cipolla Rossa, 91st and 1st
The Zagat rating in the window is for a different restaurant owned by the same folks: La Cantina Toscana. Cipolla Rossa just opened up this August, so no entry in Zagat yet. I just ate there tonight and had a very different, disappointing experience from the other reviewers in this forum. I lived in Rome for 6 years and have visited Tuscany many times. I was excited by an authentic-looking, confident menu, but I found the cooking very mediocre - everything was overcooked. Even the pasta was mushy, which is the easiest and most important thing to get right in Italian cooking to my mind!
