My husband and I just merged our houses... we have way too much wine so we need to start going to BYOBs. All types of food, preferably not too too expensive... anything on the east side like Tartine? or other good BYOBs. All help much appreciated!

Katz's not only downhill but off the map!
we just got back from Katz's. being true overworked new yorkers, we went there for break fast, were totally disappointed... I had a pastrami sandwich, my husand had tongue and corned beed sandwich. the soup was over salty (i know, it should be) but it was a bit too much... and the food was overall fair.
does anyone know the name of the deli on the north side of houston a few blocks east? and are the still open?

Does anyone know where to get a rice knish in New York City. My husbands mom used to make them and she is no longer here. We know where to get potato knishes. Any recommendations for a good kasha knish are also welcome.

City Bakery also has great soup, tortilla soup is my favorite
Republic has great noodle type soups, but very noisy, they do deliver and do take out.

I have eaten there twice... once a friends birthday lunch, it was great... second time was brunch on a weekend. once I ate outside, the other downstairs inside. Food is excellent a bit expensive... $21 sandwiches, but excellent service, excellent atmosphere... great food...

The Village Den is pretty great... their dinner specials are great too... I am partial to the chicken parm...

At BLT Burger on 6th Avenue btw 11th/12th you can get a burger with a fried egg and cheese, you can also add bacon on it (never did the bacon-but love the fried egg and cheese)... very tasty...
