Is there any really good bread out there?
Addeo in the Bronx gets my vote for Italian style "boule" in the Bronx. For Jewish style bread, corn rye and a fabulous pumpernickel raisin try Orwashwer's on the OES,

Looking for best Irish breakfast or burger in Woodlawn section of Bronx
The Rambling House has a good not great but nicely char broiled burger, ditto for the Irish breakfast which they sometimes grumble about serving after noon. Beyond the standard beers you'll find 3 or four English or Irish selections such as Smithicks, Harp or Fullers. The ambaiance is good, the waitresses usually all charming Irish lasses. Rambling house is an enjoyable, venerable but not extraordinary place to eat.

Liebman's Deli Riverdale, lately?
I'll get to Loeser's soon and report back. I've never been there.
Liebman's Deli Riverdale, lately?
Liebmans is a pleasant place to eat with a friendly feel. The food and service is predictably good but unrushed. Their matzoh ball soup may be the best around. Nice shreds of chicken, well cooked but not mushy carrots and celery and tasty matzoh balls that are more as they should be and less like the flavorless softball sized behemoths many diners serve these days.
I also reccomend the stuffed cabbge and kishka. I take a trip across the borough once in a while to go there.
If you want to experience one of the last the neighborhood deli's then yes it is worth the trip. As martinklienman said it is the kind of place that every jewish nabe had in the 50's-70's. There are very few left.
Smoked carp?
There are several Russian Deli-markets on Brighton Beach Bl. that have several varitites of smoked carp. I don't know names but you find them along the strip by the beach there.
Harlem - Dinner and Brunch
I like the chicken and waffles at Amy Ruth's better. Good dinner-brunch entrees too. The smothered pork chops and baked salmon are my favorite entrees if I'm not having chicken and waffles or breakfast. . I don't think they serve alcohol either.

Brooklyn Egg Creams
I've never heard more ridiculousness in my life! A good egg cream is simple to make. You do need cold milk and a pressurized siphon bottle, new or old or seltzer on tap. Pouring a can or bottle does not create the "action" needed for it to foam up. The Fox's U-Bet chocolate or vanilla is essential. None of over the spoon stuff.....blah blah.
Just pour the milk, 1/4 - 1/5 the size of the glass you are using. Then pour (or squeeze) the U-bet, about 1/3 of an inch in the bottom of the glass is enough. Stir vigorously until well mixed. Then squirt in the seltzer stirring as it foams up.
Simple! No Drama! And no you cannot use a straw. You don't experience the foam from which it gets it's name if you drink it from the bottom up!
Most Impressive Restaurant in Manhattan?
The Four Season's is a paen to mid-century modernist architecture and decor. It is without peer by that measure. Elegance objectified. The pool room exudes cool. IMHO one must vist FS prior to forming opinons on any worthy newcomers such as Daniel, PerSe or EMP.

Cuchifrito's in The Bronx?
Looking for suggestions on good cuchifrioto's counters in The Bronx. I guess I've got a hankering for fried pork belly a' la Spanish Harlem.
Full English Breakfast in Manhattan
Kinsale Tavern at 93rd & Third has been cooking a great full Irish breakfast for more than a dozen years, everyday. They include items others often don't, a grilled 1/2 tomato, black and white pudding. IMHO the best and most authentic in town.

Has anybody been to Sugar and Spice in City Island, Bronx?
I also live on the island. Sugar and spice is great for brunch. Really good pancake and french toast. I don't often eat there for dinner but when I have I've always been pleased. Great baked goods too.

Best Pastrami Sandwich
Double Bleeech! No one should be allowed to eat pastrami with anything with mayo in NYC!
Best Hot Dog/Sausage
Agreed Morscher's is great. Try the cold cuts too. The Paprika head cheese is amazing. I know, I know head cheese? But this is great stuff!
Best Hot Dog/Sausage
Ever tried the all beef natural casing dogs from Pete's Meats in thre Arthur Ave Public market or Morscher's Pork Store in Glendale, Queens pork and veal wieners?
Best All Beef Natural Casing Hot Dog, NYC
Both are since closed. For german "wiener style" veal & pork dogs try Morschers Pork Store on Catalpa Ave off Forest Ave in Glendale, Queens.

Best All Beef Natural Casing Hot Dog, NYC
The best dogs I've ever had are from Pete's Meats in the Public Market on Arthur Avenue. They are peppery Sabrett style but a better crunchier casing. They are about half what keeps people coming back to my BBQ's year after year. They are a butcher so you have to grill them yourself.

Best Fresh Pasta In New York
Borgatti's strand pasta and ravioli is fantastic no doubt but try the cavatelli too. For all you Manhattanites seeking pasta heaven Borgatti's is worth the trip to the Bronx. Every order is cut to order so you can have any width pasta you want every time.
The great Bronx sfogliatelle showdown (with photos)
You must inclue Zeppieri at Buhre & Westchester and Pelham Bake Shop a two minute walk away at Crosby & Roberts. IMHO Zeppieri's Sfogliatelle are the best in the BX. Pelham is a bit glitzier.
Arthur Avenue suggestions
Some of the places mentioned are not restaurants but really great salumeria's or butchers like Teitel Bros. or Calabria Pork Store. Truly the best places for lunch are Mike's Deli and Cafe Mercato in the Public Market. Not fancy but fantastic food and authentic atmosphere. Have a Bronx Tale sandwhich at Mikes and the square pizza and chicken francese at Mercato.

Agreed. Fanatastic creamy mozz and the best caciocavalli anywhere. Serve at room tempeture and it's better than butter on a chunk of Addeo Bros. bread, just up the block
