I got so excited about this place that I sent off the email b4 I wrote the review!
What a lovely, adult, romantic, classy gem of a neighborhood place. 10 tables, linens, fresh flowers, candles, soft music.. and excellent Asian fusion food. We ordered spicey, and on the less expensive side, and were very happy with our selection. Presentation was wonderful, and we look forward to returning over and over again since we live in the neighborhood. We also look forward to trying some of the higher prices "chef's specialties". If you're looking for a "scene" or a place for little children (noisy) to dine, this isn't for you. But if you're looking for a quiet, elegant place with terrific food, you'll be pleased.

Thanks, Janet... The area is Sunnyhills Rd in Oakland. I was told to try Pastino's, but I can't get an answer on that telephone and I'm wondering if it's still around. Unfortunately, teenager is only 13 and doesn't drive. I live in San Fran and am trying to do this across the Bay. Thanks for everyone's help. Cyd

500 here for international conference this week -- not oracle but serious difficulty getting rezzies w/oracle group in town. several restaurants worked hard to accommodate my guest -- with perfect service and perfect food. kudos to coco500, cosmopolitan cafe, farallon, foreign cinema, ozuma, and jardiniere.
canteen sprung a serious leak!
mistake of taking out of town guest to canteen this morning for breakfast. food great, but service was snotty and we were the only ones in the restaurant. never did even get a coffee refill. they need to replace the woman with long black hair -- she's obviously thinks she's way too good for the job.
