The New 41 Course Experience at 41 Grados
So...it's now 200 Euro per person...make up your mind!!!
Burgers in Toronto
finally a respectable list in Toronto Life, I may put the rankings differently, but they cover pretty much everything at first glance at least
Going to Sawada and Yoshitake Sushi, my wife doesnt eat sushi! PLEASE HELP
My wife is sometimes picky about the type of sushi she is willing to eat and I therefore end up picking up and eating the nigiri in front of her in sushi bars. This also happened in sawada and sushiko honten a couple of times. In sushiko honten they noticed this and someone asked us if there was a problem and I made a quick explanation. Itamae Sawada clearly noticed every time this happened too, but did not really make any reactions, but then he does not really speak English and there was no one else to make any inquiry on his behalf.
I imagine however that for you to eat ALL the nigiri placed in front of her would require some kind of explanation and arrangement beforehand, or it would lead to some serious awkwardness. In any case, it will be an exorbitantly expensive meal for one person at Sawada, and I am willing to bet you will not be able to finish everything.
Check out my ham
"your thread title sounds shockingly suggestive."
So I am not the only one....
NEW CONSOLIDATED Thread: Best Chicken Wings in GTA
Just thought I would share that I tried two places in the past few days and both had great wings, although they could not be more different eating establishments: Dragon Breath wings Crown and Dragon, and Honey Garlic wings at Congee Queen
Dragon Breath was for me the right combination of saucy/crispiness, and the CQ wings were very well prepared and the Honey Garlic flavor was infused into the wings. I will try other wings in CQ soon, this one was ordered by someone else at my table as I was not there for the wings in the first place.
The New 41 Course Experience at 41 Grados
Thank you! Vindicated! So yes, this is weird!!
The New 41 Course Experience at 41 Grados
So this is a new concept apparently, where they are now selling 250 Euro(see edit) tickets for a 'show' that is more than just about the food and approaches what seems to be a full immersion experience along the lines of what is being planned in El Celler de Can Roca. Color me vey very curious and willing to go, but also color me hesitant to purchase tickets without any insight as to what is going on inside the theater. Anyone been? Any insights, feedback, etc? At the risk of sounding passe and old fashioned, I actually want to know how the food is going to be!
Edit: I am obviously losing my mind for lack of sleep as I could have sworn the price was 250 Euros the last I checked, but as SnackHappy rightly points out it is 153 Euro per person. I still want to know how it is though!!
Kazan Korean BBQ v. Sariwon
Sariwon is our go to joint for Korean BBQ, but I am considering Kazan today, because I am taking people who 'might' appreciate the decor and service as much if not more than the food. any comparisons? am I on the right path? thanks!
Berlin itinerary, plus some questions
New 2 stars: Reinstoff (I had a wonderful 'far away' menu here, the stars are truly well deserved) and Lorenz Adlon (of which I know nothing)
one on the OP's main list and one on reserve.
Jiro Dreams of Sushi
oh I'm sure you get it...I'm just not sure if you 'really really get it' ;)
Jiro Dreams of Sushi
thinking of the weight on the elder son's shoulder makes me shudder. you have to be from the 'east' to really really get it.
Food Cabbie...the BIG KAHUNA
wtf......WTF.
We should all sign that petition, and get everyone who cares to sign it as well
NEW CONSOLIDATED Thread: Best Chicken Wings in GTA
I am not interested in the implications of voting for Duffs for the clarity of one's conscience. however, I must say Davwud, that as a follower of your Blog, your recent entry on Duffs northern location was really baffling to me. My experience there was simply awful. the wings dripping with sauce that had nothing but a weird heat (note I am not attacking them for being saucy, just for the sauce having a weird flavour), a disgusting little pool of oil formed at the bottom of our basket, not to mention the fries that were nothing special at all, bordering on something terrible.
May I suggest you have a soft spot for this 'brand'?
NEW Best Pizza in Toronto Thread
Love it, also slipped my mind, as I was (now it is obvious to me) name dropping!
NEW CONSOLIDATED Thread: Best Chicken Wings in GTA
I have actually no nominees, and all I say is that I think Duffs sucks half the time and is only half decent the other half, so lets hear something good here.
NEW Best Pizza in Toronto Thread
I forgot to mention it, definitely a top contender for me
NEW Best Pizza in Toronto Thread
I nominate the usual suspects: QMP, Buddha Pie, Pizza e Pazzi, Libretto. I dont have a winner because in my experience they are all inconsistent.
What am I missing? Lets have a fresh discussion here.
Sushi, Kaiseki, High-end Dining (again...) [Tokyo, Kyoto, other...] - Beware, long post !
I invite you to reconsider your ryugin/aronia choice for the following three reasons:
1) while a Ryugin dinner will easily become one of the best meals of one's life even if one's life is spent in Paris, the experience in aronia will be life-altering, transcendental (if not transcendent), and illuminating in the sense of "I was blind, now I can see". You think this is exaggerated? well it is of course, but try for yourself to see why it draws such exaggeration from you.
2) again, ryugin is truly great and unique in its own way and not really in the same category as a traditional kaiseki meal, but your kyoto kaiseki will give you a sense of what ryugin will be like, while nothing will even remotely resemble aronia, anywhere (yes, exaggerated, but see above!)
3) based on my personal experience, ryugin is in no sense more lively than aronia except if you count the presence of more living souls towards liveliness. the personal serivce attention you will receive at aronia will be unsurpassed, and it will be different from the personal attention you will receive in a kyoto establishment.
if I have made things even a little more difficult for you, then I am happy!!
Real Japanese sushi where are you?
will I need somehow to prearrange/preorder an omakase or just sit at the counter and order omakase or "whatever the itamae thinks is good/fresh/interesting today"? will a non-regular get the interesting stuff this way?
Real Japanese sushi where are you?
keeping fingers crossed for Naoe then!
Re: sushi deli, thank you for confirming what I had gathered from the net: not to expect Caspian caviar nigiri with a white truffle infused shari, but solid traditional nigiri done right with fresh fish. We will surely check it out!
Real Japanese sushi where are you?
a few questions:
any chance Naoe will be open early April?
Failing that, if I want the best sushi in Miami, will that be sushi deli?
I understand Naoe is comparable to the top tier offerings in LA and NYC. Is sushi deli, or anywhere else in Miami, in that league?
Joe's Stone Crab Question
is same menu available for lunch and dinner? could not find a dining room lunch menu online. thanks!
Please comment on the list of restaurants for first week of April
we will definitely try Joes!
