San Diego: 4 nights/5 days

If you end up going to mission/pacific beach. I would def. stop at The Mission for breakfast. That place is my favorite breakfast spot in San Diego. They have all sorts of dishes to choose from (mexican breakfast to vegetarian breakfast). Rent bikes and cruise the boardwalk, and make sure to keep an eye out for Slo-Mo Man. He's legendary.

Lunch in Coupeville, WA

Hey hounds,

I tried to do some research on Chowhound for lunch spots in Coupeville, WA and all I came up with was Toby's Tavern, which sounds great dont get me wrong. I was wondering if anyone could suggest some other lunch spots in Coupeville. Perhaps a sandwich spot, or a cafe with outdoor seating. I just wanted a variety of places so I can make an informed decision. I'm heading on a roadtrip throughout the NW, and will be taking the ferry from Keystone to Port Townsend. I'll only be in Coupeville briefly, and I don't think we'll have time for a full on restaurant. Any help will be much appreciated!

Late Nite Eats in Bellingham

Hey Hounds,

I'm from San Diego, and Im going to be taking a 10 day road trip throughout the NW later this summer and I had a question for the experts. I'll be taking the 6:40 train from Seattle to Bellingham (train gets in around 9 PM) and I was wondering what kind of late nite eats there are in Bellingham. We'll have limited transportation since we'll be renting a Westfalia as our mode of transportation the following day. I just wanted to check in and see if you guys could give me some advice.

Also, our roadtrip will take place mostly along the coast of Washington, Oregon, and Vancouver. I would love some must eat places along the way. We were thinking of stopping in the Victoria, Vancouver, San Juan Islands, Olympic National Park, Tillamook, and maybe one or two more spots along the coast. We love seafood too, but we arent trying to break the bank. Hopefully those two aren't mutually exclusive. ha

Thanks in advance!!

The Standard Hotel Area??

Thanks for the great recs! I'm getting really excited about this trip(not a terribly huge trip seeing that we're from San Diego, but a trip nonetheless). I was thinking $100 - $150 for dinner. Me and my girlfriend love seafood, but I didnt want to limit the recs to only seafood spots. Thanks again!!!

Bang for my 100 bucks

I actually live in the PB area. I've been to the fishery and thought it was nice. What about la jolla? Roppongi and Cottage have been recommended to me. How about Forever Fondue, is that just a lame idea? I kind of like the retro feel. Thanks!

Bang for my 100 bucks

If you had 100 bucks to spend on a dinner for you and a significant other where would you go? I'm located in San Diego. I was thinking the La Jolla, Hillcrest, or Downtown areas. Also, both me and my lady seriously dig on seafood. Thanks in advance!!

Bloody Mary Mix

In your expert opinions, who makes the best bloody mary mix? I'm wanting to try something other than Mr. T's, which is all I could find at Vons. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

South Beach

Can anyone out there help me with pricing? I was wondering roughly how much a night at Talula's would cost, 2 people and wine. I just want to know what Im getting myself into before going. It might very be the kind of place that if you have to ask how much dinner is you cant afford it. But I thought I'd consult you guys anyways. Thanks in advance.

Burgers and Bloody Mary's

How about just a good bloody mary. Where are the best bloody mary's in Ft. Lauderdale? I'll pose a challenge to all the Ft. Lauderdale chowhounds. Here in San Diego I can order a bloody mary with a spicy fried shrimp delicately placed on top. At said establishment, I can also have a juicy hamburger while watching the football games on sunday. Please list your fav spots you feel can compete with the san diego bar mentioned above. I know they're out there!!

Burgers and Bloody Mary's

I'm a Ft. Lauderdale expatriate looking for some recs. One of my favorite activites after a long night of hanging with old friends(i.e. boozing) is grabbing a burger and a bloody mary the day after. I'm trying to rack my brain for some good spots to partake in this activity. So far I've only come up with Aruba Beach Cafe, Shooters, and Quarterdeck. Please, Please help me. I'll be back in Ft. Lauderdale for New Years, and I just know I'll be "hanging with some old friends" As I'm sure you can tell, I'd prefer a place that has a view, and perhaps even some outdoor dining. Its friggin Florida!! Thanks in advance for your recs. Chowhound is truly my dining savior, I'm afraid I'd eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches everyday without you guys.

3rd Corner (San Diego)

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now. I hear it gets rather crazy on the weekends though. Would it be a total nightmare to try to grab a late dinner around 10 - 10:30 on a friday night. Also, this might be a stupid question but is there a corking fee if you buy a bottle in the retail section and bring it into the dining area to drink while you eat? Probably not, but I thought I would ask. Also, how are the wine prices in the retail section? Thanks in advance.

Bloody Mary Question

I've recently become quite a fan of the bloody mary. Where can I get the a great bloody mary in San Diego. I've heard about the fried shrimp bloody mary at Liars Club. What other spots around S.D. serve up a mean bloody mary? Thanks in advance.

Birdrock area

I just moved to North PB, and when I recently drove through Birdrock a few places perked my interest.

I saw:

Bahia Don Bravo
A Thai place, not sure on name
JJ's Pizza
Lupi's
Bully's
Su Casa, up near nautilus st.
and a chinese place, also up near nautilus st.

Can anyone give me some recs in the area, or let me know whether any of the places I mentioned above should be avoided

thanks in advance

SD: great hole-in-wall open late?

I think the turf club is a great spot. Fun people, great entertainment, and delicious food. I'm sorry you didnt end up staying to enjoy a meal. I'm just curious why you ended up leaving. Was it simply because the waitress asked for you ID again? You should try it again, you're missing out.

Chive in Downtown SD

Hey Hounds,

Can anyone give me the scoop on Chive in the Gaslamp Quarter. I'm trying to decide between The Fishery and Chive for dinner with the GF. I get the impression that these two restaurants are nothing alike haha, but I've been wanting to try The Fishery, and I just read that Chive is supposed to be solid as well. Now I have no idea where I should go for this special occasion!?!?! Please impart some wisdom!! Thanks in advance

Eats near the Henry Fonda Theater

Hey Hounds,

I live down in San Diego, and I'm not to familiar with LA eats. I'm heading to the Henry Fonda Theater this saturday for a concert, and I was wondering if there were any good spots to grab a bite before the show or even afterwards. I prefer it to be within walking distance of the venue, but if there's nothing worth checking out then I will most def. drive. Thanks in advance for your recs!!

Date spot in Orange County?

Hey chowhounds,

I was wondering if anyone out there, with your plethora of restaurant knowledge, could reccommend a good date spot in Orange County. Specifically spots in or around Newport. My girlfriend and I enjoy all types of cuisine and even enjoy experimenting with new ones. Thanks in advance for your responses!

Question about La Cave in Costa Mesa?

Has anyone ever eaten there? Its on 17th St. just past Tustin. I've heard a few good things about the restaurant, and I'm feeling the urge to try it out. I was also wondering how expensive it is. I tried looking on the website to get prices, but none were listed. Thanks in advance for your comments.
