Cafe Poupon - 225 N. Charles, Baltimore - Opens March 18, 2014

It's amazing. I stopped in today and they were giving out samples of brioche. The place was packed at lunch time.

Skyr

Where to get in Baltimore area? I've tried Siggi's which they sell at Wegmans, but it's more yogurt. I just tried one from Whole Foods which was great, but there's got to be more out there. Any ideas?

What is the best crabcake in Columbia-Ellicott City area?

Kings Contrivance has great crabcakes, but it's a "fancy" restaurant. Timbuktu in Jessup (I think) off of Route 100 has good crabcakes

Lexington Market and Trinacria

No offense, IMHO, Lexington Market is no Chelsea Market or Reading Terminal. I work 2 blocks from Lexington Market. If it looked like Chelsea Market and had the wonderful pasta shop and the 2lb lobsters, I would be there everyday. Lexington Market is one of the country's oldest public markets so it could account for some of the issues

Lexington Market and Trinacria

There is no place to eat at Trinacria. It's just a deli. You can eat at the market, but it's really dirty. Dangerous is in the eye of the beholder. If you're not use to cities and crowds of people just hanging around, then Lexington Market will scare you. If you don't mind crowds and are street smart (keep wallet in front pocket, wear a zippered purse, etc) then you should be fine. But, I agree with the poster who said there are better places to get a crab cake, and probably better Italian deli out there as well that won't sour your Baltimore experience

Chocolate Babka in North Baltimore

Goldman's on Reisterstown Rd just north of Reisterstown Plaza. There is another bakery across the road from there, and their are a couple more up and down that stretch of road, but I have found Goldman'd to be the best. They sell Green's chocolate Babka at Wegman's in Hunt Valley and Columbia. There is also 7 mile Market just north of Goldman's. It's one of the largest kosher supermarkets so they probably have Babka too. Good luck on your quest

Where can I buy Efes beer in Baltimore

Try Beltway Liquors on Loch Raven Blvd. You can call them and Wells first. There is also a Turkish grocer in Columbia. They don't sell beer but they may know where to find what you're looking for.

Leftover Wonton Wrappers

I used wonton wrapper in a stirfry recipes but I have half of the package left over. Can I freeze them? Can I used thin in a recipe other than making wontons or eggrolls (too labor intensive, don't have time to dedicate)

TOWSON

They have 2 locations, not a chain. Are you from NY/NJ because it's definitely not like any place there (I'm a former NYker), but it has decent bagel and sandwiches. It always seemed to me like that's where the TU students go the next day to sober up!

TOWSON

For breakfast/lunch, go to Atwaters on Kenilworth, amazing homemade bread, soups, sandwiches, desserts. On York Rd just North of the circle is a little Peruvian chicken place called Pollo Amigo. Farther north on York, right above the beltway is an old school Chinese place called Szechwan something. It's in a shopping center at the light at Seminary Rd. 7 West has decent bar food. Pasta Mista on Dulaney Valley Rd for good pizza. If you go down York towards the city, there is Belvedere Market with another Atwaters and a places that makes great smoked salmon sandwiches. Bahama Breeze at the mall, although a chain, has pretty decent food and good drinks. Burger Brothers on Allegheny for good hamburgers and fries. Next door is Towson Hot Bagels. I second the recommendations for Sushi Hana and Pho Dat Than.

Dinner with children near emgbassy suites center city

Um.. you had me at Max Brenner. Everytime I try to get into the one in NYC it's packed. My 4 year old would love this place. You think if we went at 5:30 the wait would be reasonable? Is parking an issue in Philly?

Weekend report

Even though it was freezing, just came back from first time in NOLA and wish I was still there! Ate at Arnauds, great experience, fantastic oysters. Butcher for lunch, muffeletta good, but Italian cold cut was awesome. Dinner at Borgne, best meal of the trip. Duck poppers were so good and service was top notch. Next day, went to Big Fisherman for crawfish. Some other posts on other sites talked about a park behind a grocery with tables where you could eat. Found the park, but there were no tables. The weather was sunny so we just picnicked on the grass and ate our crawfish. Also ate great Vietnamese food and great dessert at Sucre on Magazine Street. There should be more discussions on this board about Sucre, the gelato was better than what I have eaten in Italy, and great cake. I wish it were on the east coast! We were supposed to eat at Mr. B's that night but we were so stuffed with crawfish, boudin and all the other goodies we went to Domenica for pizza and beer, which was so good. I'm a true John Besh believer - his restaurants are so good and top notch. I'm already planning my next trip to your great city.

Big Fisherman

Is this a good place for an out of towner to get crawfish next week? I have read that they don't have tables but the pizza place across the street will let you use their's if you either clean up after yourself or buy a pitcher of beer. Any other recommendations? I definitely want to stroll Magazine Street as part of my trip so I though this made sense

April 18-20 weekend breakfast/lunch suggestions

Thank you for a great reply. Butcher is a must for me, I saw it on TV and I'm completely sold. I just want to walk around the city and eat good creole food, like po boys, steamed crawfish, gumbos, and whatever else the city has to offer. They don't have to be sit down places or fancy places since I've got those reserved for the evenings, I want to eat NOLA.

best italian in baltimore

In the city - Cinghaile. Homemade pasta and best prosciutto outside Italy. If you want to venture into the suburbs, up I 83 in Cockeysville - Fazzini's - whole in the wall Italian restaurant in a less than desirable suburban strip mall. Homemade pasta, bread, best mussels, BYOB.

April 18-20 weekend breakfast/lunch suggestions

Is Friday Lunch a big deal in NOLA? I have no clue. Also, other posts I read talk about lines out the door of some places, like Cochon Butcher, where I really want to go. Is this typical or only during events in the city?

April 18-20 weekend breakfast/lunch suggestions

Coming to NOLA, I have dinner reservations at Arnaud's, Mr. B's and Borgne. I was going to play breakfast and dinner by ear, just walk around and find places to eat. Staying at the Hilton on St. Charles St. Is this a bad idea? A lot of posts on this board seem to indicate lunch reservations. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Avoid Quattro Leone in Oltrano

I went to Florence 6 years ago and this restaurant was recommended by our Hotel Owner. It was our least favorite restaurant on our trip and we will always remember the name because the food in Florence was so good, even the little tourist traps so it was disappointing that this place that was recommended by a local was not good. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Tips for getting black crud off my calphalon grill pan

I grilled chicken that had a sugary marinade on my grill pan. Now it's covered in black crud that I can't get off. I've soaked it over night, scrubbed it with a brillo pad and even used goo-gone that is formulated for your grill. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If I were to go back to Riverdale, the Bronx , what would be there?

I grew up in NY in the 80s (Riverdale and then Westchester County) but I'm feeling nostaligic and want to go back. What still exists on Central Avenue? I have wonderful memories of Mother's Bakery, Blue Bay Diner, the Kosher Deli and Bo Sun.
