Texas transplant seeks kolaches

Cant help you find any, because the only ones I eat are the ones my mom makes. She does a wonderful kolache filled with sweetened walnuts. The best I have ever eaten and she has spoiled me for other so called kolache. I second the idea of a neighborhood church or bakery. That is the only other way I have seen them outside of my moms house.

Chow in Columbia MD near Snowden & 100

Down Snowden River towards Broken Land Pkwy is a place called An Loi - they serve Vietnamese food and have great prices. We love to go there for lunch or dinner. They are located behind the Taco Bell in a strip mall. Yummy.

Another good option is Noodles Corner - in the strip mall off of Dobbin Rd on Staford Rd - should be close to the hotel. They would be great for both lunch and dinner. That same mall has a place called Frisco Burrito (haven't been in ages so I can't recommend it or not), a Riverside coffee house (decent coffee and they have bagel sandwiches along with muffins and such for breakfast). There is also a place called Hanamura there, good sushi and bento boxes, etc.

Need Casual Yummy Date Night Place - Bmore

My husband and I are getting a date night Saturday and we want a yummy restaruant in downtown Baltimore or the Columbia/Ellicott City/Elkridge area. we live in Howard County but are prepared to go to Baltimore. We want casual dining (examples would be blue agave or Jesse Wong's Hong Kong), nothing we need to dress up for and wouldn't be really expensive - we do love that but this date is not for that - just some place that is good and we could probably get in to .

thanks in advance.

Martick's or Charleston for B-day dinner?

My husband is taking me to dinner for my birthday and I was wondering which restaurant we should go to. A little background, we love Charleston and go there for most of our special occasions so we know the food is wonderful and it is our favorite restaurant in town. But I have never been to Martick's and I understand it is quite the unusual place. I don't know if we should go to Charleston and get a meal we know we will love or try Marticks and maybe get a totally different experience. Just an aside, my husband has been to Martick's before so it is not a new experience for him.

thanks

Charm City Cakes

Duff did our Rehearsal dinner cake, I wanted something like a victorian charm pull cake. What he made was amazing and really tasty. We loved Duff himself and he was actually nice enought to talk to me about opening my own pastry shop. (Which I am still trying to accomplish). As for Sugarbakers, you couldn't pay me to get a cake from them. I went there and they were so rude to me and my fiance at the time. My mother and i also bought cannolis from them and they tasted like we bought show pieces not something you were supposed to eat. Our actual wedding cake came from
Vaccaro's, whom we can't say enough about also.

IN BALTIMORE FOR 10 DAYS :: YOUR BEST RECS svp

I would have to agree with PP about Petit Louis, but also owned by the same people are Charleston (Best expensive restaurant in town IMO)and Pazo.

For Chinese, we like a place in Columbia - about 20 mins south of the city on 95 called Jesse Wong's Asean Bistro, www.aseanbistro.com

And DH and I did Sotto Sopra recently for restaurant week and really liked it www.sottosoprainc.com

As for crab cakes, I am very picky. the only place I will eat them outside of my own house is actually at a rib/bar on York Rd in Towson called The Corner Stable.

good luck.

LAS VEGAS: NEED AN AMAZING DINNER FOR MY TOP CUSTOMERS!

Hands down Alex. It is expensive but so worth every cent. The best meal my DH and I have ever had and we have had some good ones (we dine somewhat regularly at a James Beard nominated chef's restaurant). Amazing, both service and food.

RW in Baltimore

DH and I went to Sotto Sopra on Tuesday. We ended up ordering off of their regular menu, not because their RW menu was bad but because the other had some options we really wanted. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. The food was pretty good. DH is Italian and will not eat at most Little Italy restaurants but said he would go back to SS. He had gorgonzola gnocci which was awesome and I had a veal stuffed pasta that was smoky goodness. Desserts were lovely and it was a good time. We would go back.
