Torrone in NYC?

Any recommendations on where I can find good, homemade torrone in NYC?

Bridal shower venues in Philly?

Thank you! And good suggestion on the bridal websites - I'm pretty raw to this whole process. I'm planning a shower - so far no home offers - which is why I'm hunting for a shower-friendly restaurant with good food for the money.

Thanks again!

Bridal shower venues in Philly?

Hello,

I am helping to plan a bridal shower for a friend in Philadelphia. I am from NYC and do not know Philly at all - I would thus really appreciate any suggestions for venues that could handle 25- 35 people in a private or semi-private space that has good food at a good value.
The bride-to-be is less traditional, so I'm not necessarily looking for a super formal place (I'd also consider a non meal-oriented venue such as a wine/cheese/chocolate/whatever tasting format). I would greatly appreciate any suggestions anyone has - as well as experiences (positive or negative) hosting this scale of event in the city.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Fresh cannoli cake in manhattan?

Hello all,

I'm relatively new to NYC and have not explored its many bakeries yet... I'm looking to find a super-delicious cannoli cream cake in Manhattan. I am pretty agnostic in terms of neighborhood - if the cake is good, I'll travel to get it. I would appreciate any recommendations you have!

RW at Sage

I too dined at Sage for RW this evening. I echo everyone's sentiments on the calimari. I had the tagliolini with cherry tomatoes and basil pesto; the basil pesto was fresh and earthy and the cherry tomatoes cooked to Sage's signature perfection, though I wish more tomatoes were in the dish. The pasta was very good, though not up to Sage's usual extraordinary standards. My companions had the canneloni and the crispy salmon and reported that both were delicious. I was struck by how austere the canneloni looked on the plate when it was served, though my companion insisted it was filling.

I finished my meal with the vanilla pannacotta, which was served with braised figs and a kind of fig jam. The pannacotta flavor was lovely, though I found it to be more firm than what I am accustomed to. I usually eat so much at Sage that I never make it to dessert, so I cannot compare this evening's dessert experience to a previous one. My companions had the corn fritters which were spectacular: crispy on the outside with a sweet, soft and unmistakable corn flavor inside.

It's so hot and I cannot find ice cream....

I just moved to the murray hill area and I am craving some ice cream. Can anyone please recommend an ice cream place in the neighborhood? (Believe it or not, my fridge does not have a freezer....)

Great ribollita?

Can anyone recommend where I could get some authentic ribollita in the boston area?
