Hilltop Butcher Beef Tips
I live in FL now and have tried to find the right cut of beef that the Hilltop butcher sells as beef tips.
I would make kabobs with them and they were always tasty. Anyone know what cut of meet I should be looking for? I have tried many that LOOK like them but never taste like them.

Mail order Truffle oil or Ft. Lauderdale area store
Hello,
We just used our last drops of truffle oil that we bought on a trip to Italy. Does anyone have a good source, mail order or Ft. Lauderdale location.
Thanks!
sausage casings in ft lauderdale
Thanks for asking this question! I came to ask the same. Thank you all for answering!
Garlic in France
Each row was a different variety at this market. I don't speak French the person selling the garlic did not speak English. Would have loved to ask about the last one we purchased. We were able to smell the bulb we bought to replace the last one.
I think my husband explained it best. You have a bottle of wine, the wine or in our case meals tasted very good but you get a musty or corky taste that kind of takes over.
Garlic in France
No, looked like any head of garlic I would pick up at home. Other than the purple tint to the skin.
Garlic in France
No, it was garlic. The skin had a purple tint and the cloves were firm and moist. The head looked very healthy. My husband descibes old socks.
We're still traveling about France and plan on doing more shopping and cooking. I wish I could explain the taste, best my husband and I could think of was odd.
I had made boeuf bourgogne and a red sauce for pasta. They both had the same flavor. While cooking both smelled terrific. Upon taste it was, huh?
Garlic in France
Yes, from the States.
This looked to be very fresh. No green. I was really pleased when I bought it. Like all the other produce at the market it looked perfect. It took three meals before we were able to find the culprit. It was the oddest flavor.
We were investgating the pans, did we leave soap in the pans, tap water. Never gave the garlic a thought. When I went to use it that last time I brought it to my husband and we knew that was the cause.
Garlic in France
My husband & I just spent some time in France. In Dijon we loved going to the Market and going back to our flat to create some memorable meals. We were more than pleased with the quality of the meats and produce. We had one problem though and it took us a bit of time to figure it out. There was a very distinct taste to some of the dishes. Finally I was about to make some brushetta and I gave the garlic a smell. It was the garlic that was setting all the dishes off. The bulb looked perfect. But, the smell was not what we were use to. Also, garlic tends to get sweeter the longer cooked. Not this bulb. Just wondering if anyone has had this experience?
Thanks.

Pimms, does it spoil?
Hi,
We have a bottle that's been in the cupboard for over 10 years. Is it still good or will it have lost it's flavor?
Thanks!

New England Style Hot Dog Roll
Thanks for your replies. I'll check-out your suggestions.
I saw a thread that says you can buy a King Authur Bakers pan made to make your own.
Maybe I'll try that if I can't find them.

New England Style Hot Dog Roll
Hi,
Hoping I can get some help. I live in the fort Lauderdale area. I'm looking for the hot dog rolls like the ones I had when living in the Boston area. They came in like a pull apart strip. Not individual rolls. They're great with hot dogs and better with lobster salad.
San Antonio 60th Birthday Dinner
We'll be in San Antonio for my husband's 60th birthday. I think he would enjoy a steakhouse.
Bohanan's, Bourdro's, Ruth or Morton's? Or any other that you think would be worthy of a 60th. I'm guessing he would order a filet.
Thanks,
Jo
Best Markets in France or Italy

Best Markets in Italy
We just returned from our vacation in France. A week in Dijon in an apartment and a week in a hotel in Paris. Our favorite part of our vacation was the week in Dijon. We loved shopping at the great historic covered market les Halles. We would buy what looked the best and take it back to the flat and try our luck at cooking and trying new foods. Our favorite find was the Epoisses cheese.
We're planning our next vacation and want to know where they have the best markets?
We would also like a village that has enough sights to visit by foot and car to keep us busy.
Thanks!

Favorite Little-Known Italian Restaurant Outside of Boston Proper?
We enjoy La Scalas in Randolph. Whenever we come up for a visit it is one of our stops.
Epoisses de Bourgogne Cheese
Thank You Veggo,
Planning on having it Thanksgiving when son and family visit. You're the best!
Best Italian sandwich in Boston?
I was playing on Chowhound and put "Spuckie" in the search. It brought me here. Being from Roxbury, JP, Dot, that is what we called an Italian meat sandwich. We usually had tonic with it.
My husband had never heard of a spuckie to him it was a sub.
We moved to CT because he was in the Navy on a Submarine. They called the sandwich a grinder. Never understood why they wouldn't take advantage and call them subs.
Why won't they leave yogurt alone?
It's funny. I searched yogurt to see if I could learn why the yogurt I have had in Europe taste so much better than here. I found this thread.
No matter where we go in Europe I eat and enjoy the yogurt. For the first time my husband tried it in France this past trip. He loved it! At home he will not touch it.
One thing we did notice was they do not put calorie count on all the choices. We did find one that showed a reasonably low count and still was great.
coming to paris - any fun/neat/odd foodie can't miss places?
FYI "Dehillerin" closes for lunch. Not sure the time they close but they reopened at 2:00. We arrived at 1:00 couldn't read the sign on the door. Finally asked a very nice woman to translate. She told us they were closed for lunch.
