Asian Groceries in Mid-Hudson/Poughkeepsie Area
Anyone know of an Asian Grocery in the Mid-Hudson Area of NY State? I have found two, however, both specialize in Indian and don't have too much Chinese/SE Asian Ingredients. I would hate to have to commute all the way to the city to get my fill of the staples necessary for these amazing cuisines.
Where do take visitors to the Bay Area?
Yes I have to agree. I have lived and spent much time in both SF and East Bay and I am still amazed at the produce. Ferry Plaza is a little upscale for me (but good for visitors) I love the simplicity and basic produce available at Alemany. As I prepare to move to NY, I know I am going to miss the produce of California.
Where do you take visitors to Chicago?
If you want to show friends and family truly Chicago Area food, where do you take them? I would like to compile a list of what locals feel are the best restaurants to "show-off," their city. I for example I would consider a quality beef place, a good Chicago Dog and a fine dining place in order to get people a true picture of Chicago and the food and the people. But seeing what hidden away (or blatantly obvious) restaurants others consider "don't miss," may help us all expand our local horizons. Your thoughts?
Thanks in advance

I for example would consider El Farolito taqueria, in addition to the Slanted Door on the higher end. I would even include a trip to Berkeley Bowl market and cook for the guests. Yes, we are looking at London Street in Lyttleton and we may splurge on The George. I hear they have great breakfast fare too . . .
Best recipe management software for Mac
After looking at many I ended up going with MacGourmet and was able to effortlessly import all my MasterCook recipes. I also purchased the Nutrition analysis software, but have not used it much as of yet. So far I have been very pleased with it as a basic recipe management software program.

New Orleans this New Year's Eve
My fiance and I are planning a trip to New Orleans on our long train trip to New York (from Tuscon). We plan on staying over the New Year. We are interested in great food (I am a chef) and good blues and jazz. Not so interested in club/dancing scene, but we are into good music and food. Please let me know your recommendations in general and for this specific time of year.
Thanks.
