New Yorker looking for a special occassion Miami restaurant
Don't worry. There are zero restaurants in Miami that require a jacket.
South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center
Macita's (Colombian) in shopping plaza @ US 1/SW 184 St. is excellent.
Though fairly casual (bar & grill-type), Rodbender's is very reasonable and has great fish. Located on Old Cutler Rd.
Black Point Ocean Grill is close to South Dade Arts Center. Great waterfront venue.
Pho Thang (Vietnamese) located at US 1/SW 160 St is pretty decent, very authentic.
What Peruvian restaurant in Miami would you recommend to out of town friends?
Las Totoritas in Doral.
Something similar to Montys Raw Bar in Coconut Grove?
Waterfront options 20 min N or S of Grove are unfortunately pretty limited.
Its more like 30-35 min south, but Ocean Grill at Black Point Marina has a great waterfront atmosphere and much better food than Monty's or Scotty's. Live music most evenings.
bachelorette party help in the Grove
UM kids at Sandbar, Tavern in the Grove, Mr Moe's

Mr Moe's
3131 Commodore Plz, Miami, FL 33133
Where can I purchase Pork Belly in South Miami?
Meat Place Plus (on SW 184 St near Turnpike) sells it.
Family Friendly Italian on Miami Beach
Cafe Prima Pasta is not walking distance (though close) and is very good.
New Yorker looking for quintessential Miami area cheap eats
Fish tacos at Verdaddy's are terrible...nor would they even remotely qualify as "signature" or "must-have." Plus, why would a New Yorker go to Hollywood, Fla for a Philly Steak sandwich.
Recs for Mexican, Indian or Thai - Orlando
Go to Thai House of Orlando @ 2117 East Colonial Dr. Fantastic Thai food.
Recommendations Near The Drake
I will be staying at The Drake on business for a few nights next week and would like to try some well-regarded restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Not too particular about cuisine type and price; just want a quality meal with good atmosphere. Thanks.
Lunch in South Beach
Best view of people/street life is on Ocean Drive, though the food generally is overpriced/average.
Big Pink for lunch is not bad; no beach view though. The only true "oceanfront" restaurant on South Beach is Dilido at the Ritz-Carlton.
Monday lunch suggestion in Coral Gables; must get to airport by 2 pm
Try Catch of the Day on LeJeune just south of airport (b/t Gables and MIA). It looks kind of sketchy (think Old John Silver-type bldg), but seafood is great, and very reasonable.
Farmer's Markets in Miami
Yes, the Mexican market down US1 (at SW 244 St.) is fantastic. Great prices (i.e. tomatoes $0.83/lb, mangoes 2 for $1, bell peppers $1 each). Plus its authentic, esp compared to Grove, Pinecrest Gardner's, Lincoln Road, etc.) Plus, great food: explore the flea market and you'll find various "mobile" restaurants serving Mexican, Central American fare. I think there's pony rides too.
