Best GF spaghetti?

Jovial, always and forever! Their angel hair pasta is a staple in our pantry, and Jovial pasta keeps it's texture so well that I often make pasta salads that can be eaten cold straight out of the fridge. Tinkyada is a close second, but does not taste as good once it gets cold.

Vegan brunch on Sunday

My brunches always end up having themes, but there's usually: a couple of salads (fruit salad, pasta- or grain-based salad); guacamole or baked artichoke dip; bruschetta - which can have a million different toppings, such as smashed avocado or basil-strawberry salsa; and bite-sized desserts.

I love ninrn's suggestion of a pitcher of fruit smoothie!

I'll have to keep that in mind for my husband! I don't eat dairy, but he does, and cheese ravioli is something he misses. He has a gluten *intolerance* (I'm the one with an allergy), so he tries to eat GF as much as possible. Thanks for the heads up on this product!

My daughter is being raised by a Lithuanian/Italian and a German/Peruvian . . . I see some interesting food perceptions developing in her future. :)

Sounds lovely! I often slowly braise beans with herbs and alliums until they're creamy and almost falling apart. I'm Peruvian, though, and having grown up eating beans prepared this way I don't think of them as Italian unless a small pasta is thrown into the pot!

I loved using it for pasta salads, too! But also, pasta e fagioli. I have this lovely little Italian cookbook, La Bella Cucina, and it has a pasta e fagioli recipe that uses white beans and wild fennel. Aforementioned Italian husband swooned at the sight of it.

Good to know! I'll have to check Vitacost out, maybe they have Schar GF pasta, I think they make really small soup pasta! (I really miss ditalini for some reason.)

Oh, I hope you can find Jovial angel hair and/or spaghetti; it is just as good as it's semolina counterpart, I promise. My husband is Italian, and he says he cannot tell the difference at all. ALSO - they do well in the fridge, and don't become brittle like most GF pastas do once they cool down. I often bring leftover Jovial capellini to work for lunch and eat it cold right out of my lunch bag.

ItalianNana mentioned Bionaturae, which is another excellent brand (again, as good as if not better than Tinkyada imo) - and they are made by the same people who make Jovial. Good luck finding these pastas, they are worth it!

ItalianNana: Bionaturae is made by the same people who make Jovial!! I also love Bionaturae's shapes, and they vary from what Jovial has to offer.

Jovial brand pasta - their capellini especially, although imo all of their shapes/sized are superior to Tinkyada.

Almond Milk Pulp Uses - Easy Ones, Please.

I would start by replacing half of the flour *or* oats with the equivalent amount of pulp, and reducing the liquid by a couple of tablespoons. Then you can adjust the cookie dough by adding either more rolled oats or more liquid, to get the cookie dough how you'd like it. I've found oatmeal cookies to be one of the easiest things to modify. Nut pulp pairs well with shredded coconut, so you could use that as one of your add ins (if you like coconut). Adding nut pulp will make the cookies a bit more cakey and moist.

Almond Milk Pulp Uses - Easy Ones, Please.

I use my nut milk pulp in granola, oatmeal cookies, and crock pot oatmeal. I also don't use a cheesecloth, and the texture of my pulp is perfect for these things.

The nut pulp will also freeze really well.

Vegan Version of Bubbe's Chicken Soup-What Do You make When You Have a Cold?

My vegan "chicken soup" isn't soup at all, but it does the trick and I make it at the first sign of a cold.

1 bowl sushi or sticky rice
2 tsp white miso
1 tsp chili flakes, or to taste
1 tsp tamari sauce (soy or shoyu are fine if you are not gf)
a couple of drops of toasted sesame oil

I bought a can of Irish Oats-now what?

I make mine in a crock pot - 1 cup steel cut oats, 4 cups liquid (I usually do 1 cup coconut milk + 3 cups rice milk), 1/4 cup brown sugar. I give it a really good stir right before I go to bed, and when I wake up they are perfect every time! It's especially great for when I have overnight company.
